Never Trust A Broken Heart by Ivy Symone (8)

Chapter 8

Bebe had the blues. Not only did he not see Miki Sunday, but she also had to skip their Thursday “meeting”. Here it was a whole week later.

When his doorbell rang Friday night Bebe had a good guess who was on the other side of his door. Leaving his rec room Kennedi and Shadow followed him.

“Who that Daddy at the door?” Kennedi asked. Shadow accidentally tripped her.

“Uh-oh,” Bebe snickered.

Kennedi bounced back up, “I’m okay.”

The doorbell rang again. Bebe swung the door open. BJ knowing the routine stepped inside. Shadow and Kennedi got excited by BJ’s presence.

“Can I come in or do you have somebody in there?” Stefani asked.

“Don’t you gotta get going? You know, ladies free before ten if you show your pussy?”

“Fuck you,” Stefani mumbled. She brushed passed him.

Bebe followed her to his kitchen. She started rummaging through his refrigerator. “I need something on my stomach. Whatchu got in here to eat?”

“I got plenty of go-get-your-own-shit. In a variety of flavors.”

“Again...Fuck you,” she said rolling her eyes.

The mini dress she wore barely covered her ass. Bebe asked, “When are you going to stop this?”

“Stop what?”

“All this clubbing shit. Being nonchalant about life. Grow up.”

Stefani stood upright and looked at Bebe, “Honestly, I’m giving myself ‘til the first of the year. Come January first I’ma be a new me.”

“That’s in four months.”

Stefani half-shrugged. “Okay. I have four months to get all this shit out of my system.”

“How old are you?”

“Twenty-seven. Why do you care about all that anyway?”

“You’re my son’s mother. I should care.”

Stefani sniffed the air. “I smell pizza.”

“It’s down in the rec room.”

“And you weren’t going to tell me?”

Bebe watched Stefani’s ass the whole time they walked to the rec room. Stefani was very sexy. She was short, about five feet two inches tall. She had a tight body like a dancer. She was mixed with Puerto Rican and she wore her black hair straightened which fell to the small of her back.

Bebe still cared for Stefani. If she got herself together like she described in the lie she just told, Bebe would consider her again as a woman he would want to marry. Although her immature behavior got on his nerves sometimes she and Bebe still had a good friendship. They even fooled around. Before Miki, she was the last person he had slept with.

The kids along with Shadow played off to the side. Bebe sat beside Stefani on the couch where she helped herself to his pizza.

“Bebe, why you home on a Friday night anyway?” she asked.

“Uhm...so that I can be here when your stankin’ ass come by to drop my son off,” he said sarcastically.

“Whatever. If you weren’t here I coulda—”

“I don’t wanna hear that. You would have blown my phone up asking me where I was.”

Stefani grinned, “You right.”

“I know I’m right. But you know I gotta work in the morning.”

“Who’s gonna watch the kids?”

“Deja.”

“What are your plans for tomorrow?”

“I don’t know. Keonte want me to come out to a bike party. I might bring out my baby. I hadn’t rode my bike in a while.”

“I wanna ride. Can I go with you?” she asked. She added with seduction, “Bebe you know I like to ride.”

Bebe smiled, “I know you do.”

Stefani turned to face him, tucking one leg under her and the other leg hung over the couch. She gave Bebe a perfect view of her pink panty covered love box. She said, “How about I skip the club tonight and chill here with you and the kids instead?”

His dick was already pulsating with life. Bebe reached out and touched her through her panties. “Can I get some of this?”

“What do you think?”

Bebe lowered his voice, “I think I need to see how your pussy feel about it.” He hooked his finger around the crotch of her panties and inserted it inside her.

Stefani moaned, “Mmm…How do she feel about it?”

Bebe leaned over and kissed her. “She feel good about it.”

The next morning Bebe was so worked over he got off to a late start. He had to admit though, waking up to Stefani in his bed and the kids and Shadow coming in the room felt good. It was what Bebe wanted. A completed family of his own. His own woman.

________

Miki found herself feeling more and emptier. Bebe got her thinking about what she wanted for herself. She used to envision herself as a smart happy well-rounded and grounded successful independent woman. Over time she lost her vision when she got used to not thinking for herself.

It was time Miki reevaluated her life. If not, she knew time would fly by and she would have spent it unhappy. Come January she would be enrolled and registered in somebody’s school. Hopefully she would be away from Redd too.

She wanted to leave him. She could walk away and find her own place. But he’d find her, drag her back home and damn near kill her. He had done so several times in the past when she left.

If she left this time could Bebe protect her? Could she trust him to be there for her? She hated dragging him into her mess, but she didn’t have any other males in her life willing to stick their neck out for her. Most men stepped back and didn’t want to get involved. People would say, she have to want change for herself. Miki did want it but it wasn’t as easy for her as people wrote it off to be. She feared Redd. She felt powerless, hopeless, helpless, and lost.

“Miki, you doing it again. What’s wrong with you?”

“Oh nothing. I was just thinking about going to school.”

Redd cut his eyes at her. “Haven’t we discussed this before?”

“Yeah about five years ago.”

“And I still feel the same way I did five years ago. You don’t need school baby. You got me.”

“What if something happens to you? I need something to fall back on.”

“If something happens to me you and the kids will still be taken care of.”

“Maybe the kids but not me. I’m not your wife.”

Redd grinned knowingly.

“Raquel will get everything. I’m just a baby mama.”

“If that’s what you think,” Redd chuckled.

Miki cut her eyes at him as he drove. Why was that funny? He can giggle all he wanted but Miki was determined to go to school.

Ace of Spades Bike Club was having a party at The Cut. Miki was actually surprised Redd told her she was going. Just like last time there were custom painted and tricked out bikes outside of the club. Inside the club people were everywhere representing their bike clubs.

Redd escorted Miki to a particular section where she was united with Kat and Mokeba. “Hey ladies.”

“Hey! Let me get those shoes,” Mokeba called out.

Miki sat down looking at her spiked cheetah print and black leather, red-heeled Louboutins. “Girl, these things are old.”

“They Louboutins girl. They can’t get old,” Mokeba said.

Kat straightened Miki’s hair. “Your hair makes me jealous.”

“I’m just now noticing your twists are out,” Mokeba said.

Miki smooth her hair with her hand. Kat had just done it earlier that morning. Miki’s hair was styled in an asymmetric bob with an off-centered part. The right fell into her eye and the longest section touched her clavicle. The left reached her shoulder and the back rested at the base of her neck. With all of the body in it and how black it was people assumed it was weave but it was hers. Having a best friend as a hairdresser had its privileges.

Kat continued to mess with Miki’s hair while whispering, “Your man is here.”

Miki knew who Kat was talking about. She needed to see him. She missed him so much. It had been a week since being with Bebe. Even if she was on her period that whole week just to be in his presence would have been satisfying. They saw each other Thursday morning when Miki arrived early just to tell him she wouldn’t be able to make it to the meeting. He seemed upset, but he said he was okay.

Miki whispered, “Where is he?”

“He was by the bar. He looking good too along with that cousin of his.”

Miki scanned the perimeter first. No Bebe by any of the bars. She searched the dancefloor. There he was dressed in all white. Kat was right, Bebe looked damn good. He was having a good time grinding on the girl he was with. Pocahontas was working her ass on him too. Miki felt a little jealous, but she was probably just some random girl.

Miki’s smile faded when she witnessed Bebe hold the girl from behind and kiss her. He said something in her ear. Pocahontas turned around and playfully hit him. She took his hand and led him off the floor.

Miki didn’t care if Redd got mad, but she had to get closer.

“Where you going?” Kat asked.

“I’ll be back,” Miki said absently.

“Miki! You know how Redd is.”

Miki stepped down to the dance floor and walked around the perimeter. She ignored the stares and advances. She stopped in front of the bar because she had a perfect view of Bebe and the cluster of people he was with.

Bebe and Pocahontas were very familiar with each other. Very friendly and very close. He still held onto her and she held on to him. They looked like a happy couple. Miki didn’t know what to think. She was disappointed. So when he wasn’t with her, Bebe was with other women. Miki couldn’t trust him anymore nor believe he would be all those things he talked about being for her.
