I was high on bonding hormones clear through the next morning. I woke up and panicked for a moment when Kali wasn't in bed with me, but then I smelled breakfast cooking. I realized that for the first time in months, I didn't have any morning sickness.
A sigh of relief escaped my lips. I hadn't told Kali that my doctor was threatening to admit me to the hospital and put me on IV nutrition if I couldn't begin to eat better than I had been.
"Do I smell pancakes and sausage?" I asked as I walked into the kitchen.

"I'm starving. I can't believe I've actually wanted to eat twice in two days."
Kali turned around and looked at me with grave concern. "It's been that bad? Is the baby okay?"
I sat down cross-legged on a kitchen chair. "It is. I guess I should tell you that it hasn't been easy. The doctor was worried about me not eating. He said he was going to put me in the hospital on an IV drip if I didn't start eating better by my next visit."
"Oh, Thomas," Kali said. He took the food off the burners and crossed the kitchen to me. Kali lifted me up and carried me to the sofa. "You're going to stay here and rest while I wait on you. Do you understand me?"
I nodded my head yes.
"I want every single calorie you consume to go toward making you stronger and feeding our baby."
"I'll wait here while you fix my plate then," I said with a smile.
Kali handed me the glass of orange juice. "Drink."
He came back into the room a few minutes later with a plate piled high with pancakes and sausage in one hand and a bottle of syrup in the other.
"Is this food okay?" he asked. "I can make you something else."
"This is perfect. Please, sit and eat with me. I hope you made some for yourself."
"Be right back," he said and left for the kitchen.
Kali returned with a plate of his own. I turned on the television and was scrolling through Netflix. "Anything you want to watch?"
"Nope. This two weeks is all about you, Thomas. You can have whatever you want. You pick the movies. I rub your feet. You tell me what you want to eat. I'll either make it or go pick it up for us. You want a back rub, a hot bath, or a hand job, I'm here for your pleasure."

When I was done eating, Kali made good on his promise. He rubbed my feet while we watched my favorite movie. After it was over, he rubbed my back and then told me to stand up.

"Thank you. Promise you'll still be there when the baby is born?"
"A team of wild horses couldn't drag me away," she said.

"Have you told him the sex of the baby yet?" she asked.
"No, do you think I should?" I asked.
"That's up to you, Thomas. He's your Alpha."
