Paranormal Dating Agency: Wolf at the Door (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Nicole Morgan (8)

Chapter Nine

The sound of birds chirping woke Natalie. She opened her eyes, blinking against the sunlight as the morning light shone obnoxiously through her bedroom window.

Her hair was all around her face, a mess from the several times her and Nikko had held an encore performance of what will forever be known in her heart as Kitchenfest 2017.

She could feel his arms around her as she lie against his chest. She hated moving and chancing waking him up but, her hair was tickling her nose and she had to pee.

Trying her best to be as silent as mouse, she slid out of bed and tiptoed to the bathroom.

Her appearance hadn’t left much to be desired so she did her best to clean herself up. She still looked a mess when she was walking back to the bedroom. For some reason she just couldn’t find a reason to care.

With a smile across her face she stepped back into the bedroom surprised to see Nikko awake and grinning at her.

He was pitching a not so subtle tent with the bed sheet and a mischievous look to match.

“Sorry. Did I wake you?”

“Which time?”

She smirked and crawled into bed alongside him. “I don’t think I was the one doing most of the waking up last night.”

“It’s not my fault. You’re the one with the body that won’t quit.”

“Oh, you mean the fat ass and wide thighs?”

“Hey.” He pulled her against him. “Stop that. Your body is a fucking treasure.”

She laughed. “I don’t know if treasure is the word I’d use. I mean, it is bountiful.”

“It’s gorgeous. You’re gorgeous.”

“Are you sure that’s not just the morning wood talking?”

“No.” he lifted her up until she straddled him. “Nothing about last night was because of sex. “

Rocking against him, moaning when the head of his cock slid along her swollen clit, she protested. “Oh, I don’t know. I think last night had a lot to do with sex.”

Grabbing onto her hips Nikko stopped her. “Look at me.”

She did as he asked, staring into the deep blue of his eyes while he continued on.

“Last night, it wasn’t just about the sex. I’m a wolf, baby. I can fuck. I can mate and I can do any number of things to scratch that itch. That’s not what it is with you, though. This… what we shared… what we’ve started… it’s only the beginning.”

She wasn’t sure what to say. She wasn’t even sure there was anything she could say. Never in her life had she invited a stranger to her home. Not for ice cream and certainly not for sex on a counter. She wasn’t sure if Nikko realized it but, her request for him to not hurt her wasn’t purely physically based. She felt things with him. Things that had been so powerful she wasn’t sure she could control herself. Now being here with him, on top of him, his hands splayed delicately at her sides, she could feel her heart doing things that scared the hell out of her.

“Don’t hold back, baby. I can see it in your eyes. I saw it last night when I almost left and I can see it creeping back again.”

“I think… “

“Say it. Just tell me.”

“I’m scared, Nikko.”

“Don’t be. I swore to you I wouldn’t hurt you.” He sat up in bed and wrapped his arms around her. “I meant that. Please trust that. Trust me.”

He leaned into her for a kiss and she felt his hand work in between their bodies so he could join them completely. Pushing inside of her, she joined his efforts and sank onto him.

She opened her mouth on a sigh when she felt him enter her. He swallowed her moan, continuing to kiss her, delicately, gently, with an almost aching tenderness.

This time it was different. There was no rushing, no hurried and uncontrollable lust. They weren’t writhing against one another like a couple of horny teenagers on prom night. They were in complete control, their bodies moving and rocking against one another just as they were meant to.

After three other times the night before there was no need to rush. They both knew they weren’t going to fight it. There was no reason to. For whatever reason, whatever circumstances that had drawn them together, this was the way it was supposed to be.

So she went with him. Rising as he took her higher, and sinking as he swept her below. Every movement was in familiar comfort with the other, their bodies and souls working in unison, unable to not read the other’s next move.

“Come here.”

Nikko wrapped her up even tighter, his strong arms holding her in a way that she’d never known.

She felt safe in his arms. Not just physically but, emotionally. It wasn’t about protection, or possession, but something stronger and deeper.

Or maybe she was wrong. Maybe it was all of those things and more. Maybe with Nikko there was no beginning and no end. Maybe together they existed on a level that each of them would rise a little higher to each and every day.

Maybe, just maybe, it was love.
