Raw: Book 1 by Michelle Maris (24)

Things were back to normal. Jeremy resumed his position as VP of operations which made Bevy a happy woman. Michael was also relieved since Bevy expected Michael to pick up the slack when Jeremy left but Michael didn’t have a clue how to do half the stuff Jeremy did.

Madison had yet to break the news to Jeremy that he was going to be a father, and though Bevy was anxious for Madison to share her happy news, Bevy kept her secret.

Madison was surprised Jeremy didn’t question her when she refused the wine at dinner. Madison asked the waiter for mineral water with lime telling Jeremy she saw a member order it one night and now she craves it. It was enough to quell any suspicions.

“Sweetheart, are you ready to go?” Jeremy called out as he walked into the bathroom.

Madison leaned on the counter staring at her reflection in the mirror. “I’m all set.”

The sight of Madison stopped Jeremy in his tracks. He cozied up behind her and wrapped his arms around her. He gathered her hair and brought it over her one shoulder. He kissed her neck and breathed in her scent. “You look…” He paused to find the right word. “Happy.”

Madison leaned back resting her head on his shoulder, “I’m very happy.”

Jeremy slid his hands down the side of her body until he found the hem of her dress. “Do you think Bevy will be upset if we’re late?”

“She’ll have to deal with it.” Madison pushed her behind into Jeremy’s erection.

“I’ll make it a quickie,” Jeremy promised.

“That’s an impossible task for you.” Madison brought her hands back and rubbed the sides of his thighs as she circled her behind on his cock.

“I can go fast.” Jeremy rubbed the tip of his nose along her ear as he breathed in her scent.

“My love, you have slow hands, slow lips, and stamina like I’ve never seen.” Madison purred as she felt his warm breath caress her skin. “You wouldn’t know the first thing about a quickie.”

Jeremy slid his hands up the sides of Madison’s body taking her dress with them. He slipped it over her head and tossed it on the counter. With the palm of his hand pressed on her back, he leaned her forward on the counter.

Madison watched Jeremy in the mirror. She could see his hungry eyes gazing at her behind as his hands outlined her curves. He slipped his hand between her legs from behind and separated her wet folds with his fingertips.

Madison tilted her head back and moaned at the sensation that rocketed through her body, “My love, I’m so glad you take your time.”

Jeremy leaned forward and pressed a kiss on her shoulder, “You’re right I don’t know the first thing about a quickie, nor do I want to learn.”

Jeremy and Madison met Bill and Bevy at the restaurant. Bill’s cousin opened a new restaurant and invited Bill and Bevy on opening night. Diners packed the restaurant, and as usual, Madison scanned the faces from outside hoping no one she knew would be there. Jeremy held her hand and squeezed tighter as he felt Madison tense up beside him. “Madison, I’m here. Pretend you’re my arm candy and I don’t let you speak because you’re dumb as a rock. I’ll do all the talking.”

Madison giggled as she felt her body relax, “That’s an idea I’m on board with.”

Jeremy tucked her arm under his and held her close to the side of his body as they entered the restaurant. Right away Jeremy noticed Bevy flagging them down. He made a beeline to the bar where Bevy and Bill sat.

“Finally, we’ve been waiting for an hour.” Bevy kissed both Jeremy and Madison as Bill stood and offered his seat to Madison.

“I’m sorry it’s my fault. I got caught up with a few things at the mansion.” Jeremy apologized to Bevy and Bill.

“Jeremy, you know you should never start a new project when you have to be somewhere. You don’t rush through anything. It always becomes a big project.” Bevy patted Jeremy’s shoulder as Madison smiled at him.

“I told him that same thing before he started the project.”

Bevy eyed the two of them. Bevy cocked her head to the side as she squinted her one eye, “You two were having sex.” She blurted out.

Madison and Jeremy grinned at each other.

“No wonder you're late.” Bevy sat down.

“We’re having champagne, would you two like a glass?” Bill butted in.

“None for me, Bill, I’ll have a mineral water or a club soda,” Madison said.

“What are you pregnant?” Bill shot his eyebrow up as he asked.

Jeremy jerked his head towards Madison and waited for her response.

“Bill, you’re so silly.” Madison shook her head at Bill in an attempt to play down his accusation. “Okay, I’ll have champagne.”

Bill looked at Jeremy, “Sure, I’ll have champagne.”

Jeremy scrutinized the situation in his head. He watched the bartender place the four champagne glasses on the bar. He lifted a bottle of Dom Perignon from the space below him and gathered it in a white cloth. Icy sweat dripped down the bottle as he popped the cork. He poured four glasses, and Bill handed them out. Bill made a toast, and they all clinked their glasses together. Jeremy downed his champagne in one gulp then just as Madison brought the glass up to her lips to take a sip, Jeremy took it from her hands and replaced it with his empty glass. He took Madison’s glass of champagne and downed it.

Madison looked up at him waiting for him to say something and he finally did.

“Excuse me,” Jeremy called the bartender over, “May I get a mineral water with a lime.”

“Coming right up, sir.” The bartender stepped away for a minute and returned with an icy glass of bubbly clear liquid with a lime wedge shoved on the rim. He handed it to Jeremy and Jeremy gave it to Madison.

“Thank you,” Madison said as she brought the glass up to her lips. Jeremy rubbed her back then rested his hand on her shoulder and gave it a little squeeze.

Bevy watched the entire exchange, cleared her throat then announced, “I’m starving let’s eat.”

As they walked to the table Bevy pulled Madison back and let Bill and Jeremy continue walking in front of them. “He knows now.”

“Not necessarily,” Madison whispered as she looked at the back of her man walking in front of her.

“Come on, Madison. You're ridiculous. You need to tell him, especially now that he knows.”

“He thinks he knows, he doesn’t know for sure. I’m going to tell him when the moment feels right. And here at the restaurant doesn’t feel right.”

“Okay, just tell me as soon as you do it.”

Madison huffed, “I will but stop pressuring me.”

Jeremy and Madison drove home in silence It was a fun evening, and once the news that Jeremy yet to hear directly from Madison settled in, he enjoyed himself.

Bevy and Bill were a perfect couple. They played off of each other’s personalities, which equaled a lot of laughs. Madison looked a nervous wreck the entire meal, but Jeremy decided to let her wallow in it. It was payback for not telling him she was pregnant. He wasn’t angry, but he was going to have fun with this.

It was weeks ago when she turned down wine and ordered a mineral water with lime, so Jeremy knew she’d known about this baby for a while. He watched as she squirmed in the car seat, pulling on her fingers and even chewing on her nail at one point.

They made it all the way home speaking very little to each other. Madison commented on what a pleasant evening it was, and Jeremy agreed. Jeremy commented on the food and Madison agreed it was delicious.

When they arrived at the apartment, they brushed their teeth and changed for bed. They slipped under the covers almost simultaneously, then Jeremy leaned over, placed his hand on Madison’s stomach, looked her in the eye, kissed her mouth, told her he loved her then flopped on his back and settled into the mattress.

Madison released a long exhale when she realized he wasn’t calling her out on it. On their backs, they stared up at the ceiling. Madison adjusted the comforter, folding it neatly under her arms.

Ten minutes passed, “Jeremy are you awake.”

“Yes, Madison, I’m awake.”

“Jeremy, I’m pregnant.”

Jeremy shifted his body closer to Madison. He propped himself up on his elbow, slid his hand under the comforter and rubbed her belly, “I know.”

“Are you happy?” She asked.

“Madison, happy is too small of a word to describe how I feel. I’ve been holding it in all night waiting for you to tell me. I feel like I want to run around the town telling everybody we’re having a baby.”

“Jeremy, I’m scared that I won’t be a good mother.”

“Madison, your job, your only job is to love your child, and everything else will fall into place.”

“What if I have a panic attack in front of my child or I embarrass them because I can’t be normal around their friend's parents?”

“My love, don’t worry about things that haven’t happened. Let’s enjoy every moment of this time, and we’ll deal with things when they arise.”

“Jeremy, you make everything easy. I love you.”

“Madison, I love you but even the word love feels too small a word to describe how I feel about you.” Jeremy rubbed small circles on Madison’s belly. “Madison, will you marry me?”

Madison smiled and nodded, “As long as you don’t expect a big wedding.”

“My love, I wouldn’t put you through such torture.” Jeremy pulled Madison into him as they laughed.

They didn’t fall asleep until the early morning hours. As Madison promised she told Bevy in a text sometime during the middle of the night, then Madison and Jeremy spent the rest of the night talking about their new life.

Madison fell asleep first, and after watching her for a while, Jeremy followed.
