Epilogue
One month later
Ryder, do twins run in your family by any chance?” Bethany’s mother asked as she set three perfect green smoothies on the kitchen table. It was Sunday morning, a little after ten and Ryder had stopped by to show them the house plans. Bethany picked one of the glasses up and took a sip. It was perfect.
“Mom, you’ve mastered smoothies. This is great!”
“Thank you, dear. Ryder?” She looked eager for his answer.
“I’m thinking, sorry. I don’t think there are any twins in the family actually. Why do you ask?”
“Hmmm. Well, I had the strangest dream last night. It was right after I’d drifted off to sleep and I was holding my crystals in my right hand, snuggled close to my chest. When I woke, it was all so vivid, and so real.”
“What was it?” Bethany asked. It was the first time she could remember her mother mentioning any of her dreams.
“It was lovely. I felt sad when it ended. I was in a beautiful garden, just relaxing, when three tiny fairies appeared. They were laughing and dancing and they kept saying the word ‘twins’ and then both of.your names. Isn’t that just the strangest thing?”
“That is strange. Did they say anything else?” Bethany asked.
“No. They faded away and I woke up.”
Ryder wrapped his arms around Bethany from behind and kissed her cheek. “Twins would be awesome,” he said.
Bethany laughed. “We’re getting way ahead of ourselves. We need to get married first.”
“About that. How does four months from now sound? Bryan Baker, the builder says he can get it done by then. And that should give you time to plan whatever kind of wedding you want.” Ryder grinned as he opened the cardboard tube and laid out the building blueprints.
“Finished in four months? That seems so fast,” Bethany said.
“Oh, honey it will go by in a flash,” her mother agreed. “But it still gives us plenty of time to plan a lovely wedding.
Ryder showed them the plans and they were all impressed. It was one thing to talk about what you wanted your dream house to look like. It was something different to see it all laid out in black and white. The house looked amazing.
“Want to take a drive out there?” Ryder asked.
They said goodbye to her mother and drove out to the lot. The air was cool but the sun was shining as they strolled to the shore of the lake. Ryder rolled out the blueprints on a large, flat rock and they went over them again. It was easier to visualize the house as they stood on the lot where it would be. Bethany smiled up at Ryder.
“This doesn’t seem real.”
He pulled her into his arms and gently touched his lips to hers.
“It is perfect. We’re going to live the rest of our lives right here on this spot and who knows, maybe a year from now, we’ll be a family of four.”
“Twins. My mother’s never dreamed anything like that before.”
He grinned. “Fairies and twins. It would be pretty amazing. But a baby or two is just a bonus, whenever they decide to come. I love you, and I just can’t wait to live here with you, and start our lives together.”
“Me too,” Bethany said softly, and then she kissed him.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed Bethany and Ryder’s story. My next book in this series will be Maggie’s story, Calling Charlie, which will be out in April. Before then though, I’ll be releasing the first book in a new series set on Nantucket, The Nantucket Inn. It’s a family saga series, with sister and brothers and mothers and crazy uncles and lots of small town drama. If you’d like an email notification when it releases, please
