SAUL: The Pagans MC by Claire St. Rose (27)

With only four hours of sleep, getting Angela to the set by seven had been a task. Word had spread about what happened last night and it amused him that most of the crew was more upset with Bradley for calling Angela a nigger than they were with him for nearly sending an innocent man to prison.

It was going to be a short filming day. They were going to shoot only Angela’s scenes, using a stand in for Bradley since he was busy at the police station and Saul had rearranged his face the night before.

Saul was manning the barricades when the message from Abana arrived. In the past week, the crowds had dwindled and become more respectful, especially during the week. They knew the rules and generally followed them, so the Pagans were down to only eight men, including himself, maintaining crowd control.

My business in Corpus Christie is complete. Your contact name is Donny Dinryder. Please report progress of meeting, the message read.

Saul smiled. Will setup meeting and report progress in a few days, he replied, then archived the message so he didn’t forget the name. Having the Corpse Killers taken care of was one less thing he had to worry about.

He hadn’t forgotten what he’d done, what his club had done, but that was behind them now and he sincerely hoped it would be thirty more years before his club had to bloody their hands like that again.

He looked up from his phone, checking the section of the barricade he was responsible for. Nothing seemed out of place so he began to slowly walk down the line, displaying the colors so to speak, but also because he hated just standing.

“Hey! Hey, you, motorcycle guy!” a voice called, a voice he recognized. He smiled and paused as Charlie forced himself to the front of the barricade.

“I’m surprised to see you here.”

“Yeah, well, I thought about leaving. I’m not all that impressed with Texas, I have to tell you.”

Saul chuckled. “Don’t forget, all your problems came from over there,” he said as he jerked his thumb back toward the production crew. “If you’re honest with yourself, you know brought some of your problems on yourself.”

Charlie looked down. “Okay, yeah. I can admit that. Listen, I want to tell you thanks.”

“For what?”

“They told me you came forward and defended me. It was you, right? They only told me it was one of the security people.”

Saul grinned. “Yeah, it was me.”

“Why?”

He chuckled. “Everybody seems so surprised it rankled me you might go to jail for something you didn’t do.”

Charlie grinned. “Did Angela get the Oscar?”

Saul chuckled again. “After all you went through, that’s what you’re worried about?” Charlie smiled and shrugged. “It’s in her room on a table where she can see it.”

“Thank you. My vacation is almost up and I’m going to be leaving for home in a couple of days, but I wanted to say thanks for helping me out. If you ever get to Pueblo, look me up. I’ll buy you dinner. You can reach me through the allaboutpoppy website.”

Saul smiled. “I’ll do that.”

“Please tell Angela thank you again for the autograph and the photos. I got my book back, but the photos disappeared.”

“The cops took your photos? Those thieving bastards.”

“I don’t know where they are. I may have lost them when Bradley jumped on me. I don’t remember seeing them after that.”

“Wait here,” Saul said then turned on his toe and walked away.

“Cut! Next scene,” Johnny said.

“Can I borrow Angela for a moment?” Saul asked.

“Sure. It’ll take us a half-hour to move the cameras and setup for the next scene.”

“Thanks.” When Angela glanced at him and smiled, he waved her over.

“What’s up?”

“Charlie’s here. He lost the photos you signed for him. Would you mind doing another set for him. I feel kind of bad for the guy with all he’s been through.

She smiled. “I feel bad for him, too. Sure. In fact, I’ll take them to him myself.” Angela moved to the table where all the passes and publicity materials were kept and dug out all the photos of her, seven in total instead of the three she’d signed before. One was a generic one of her looking seductive, wearing a sweater and jeans that showed off her curves to perfection, another was a close up of her face as she smiled at the camera as if she had a secret, the three of her in uniform she’d given him before. She also included one of her and Cora and another of her and Robert. He didn’t miss she didn’t include the one of her and Bradley. She quickly signed each photo with the marker that stayed on the table and smiled at him.

“Where is he?”

Saul grinned. Charlie was going to shit himself. “Right his way.”

“Are you Charlie?” Angela asked.

“Yes,” Charlie said, his eyes huge behind his glasses.

“Here you go,” Angela said, handing the photos over as the rest of the crowd looked on. “I want to thank you for the allaboutpoppy site. Seriously. There are some creepy ones out there, but yours isn’t one of them, so thank you for that.” She grinned at him. “How about after the move wraps, I do a quick ten or fifteen minute phone interview for you?”

Saul had to look away to hide his smile as Charlie grasped for something to say. “Thank you, Ms. Moncrief,” he finally said very formally. “I’m sure those who follow you on my site would enjoy hearing anything you have to say.”

“Call me Angela.”

Charlie beamed. “Thank you, Angela. Would you mind if I took a photo?” he asked, holding up his camera.

“Not at all,” she said. “In fact...Saul, can you help us out here?” She held out her hand and Charlie handed her his camera. She passed it to Saul then held out her hand again. “Right over here,” she said. She pulled him a few feet from the barricade then turned him so his back was to the production. She stepped up beside him and beamed as Saul snapped three photos, Charlie’s face about to spit from his smile.

“There you go, Charlie,” Saul said handing him his camera.

“Thank you so much, uh, Angela! This has meant a lot to me! I can’t wait to write about it on my blog!”

“I’ll keep an eye out for it,” Angela said, then gave him a cheery wave.

“You just made his year,” Saul said softly as they walked toward the production crew.

“Yeah I did, didn’t I?” she grinned. “I figure it’s the least I could do after what happened. And you know what? I felt good doing it.”

Saul grinned but said nothing.

***

The next four days were uneventful. Bradley had apologized, blaming everything on being drunk, but nobody was buying it. Bradley couldn’t work for two days, then refused to work for two more. It made for short days for Angela as they shot around him, which suited him fine. That left more time for them to spend together and he’d spent some of their time showing her around his city.

They were riding through the late evening, and Angela smiled as the night air flowed over her skin. Saul had just treated her to the best meal she’d had yet, and she couldn’t stop smiling. It was Mexican, but unlike any she’d ever had before. Saul had explained how the meal was “traditional” Mexican food as opposed to the Tex-Mex most people associated with Mexican food. But better than the meal was the company.

He’d surprised her yet again, speaking with the wait staff in what sounded like flawless Spanish. She supposed she shouldn’t be surprised considering Laredo was a border town, but it was another thing which added depth to him. When she’d first met him, she’d thought he was the stereotypical redneck, then a biker, but there was so much more to him than that.

What had started out as a fling was starting to become more. He’d gone from someone to fuck and forget, to someone who she would have fond memories of, to now, someone she was beginning to look forward to spending time with. She smiled as she lowered her hands to his crotch to slowly caress his manhood. Tonight was going to be her first night “living” with him.

Yesterday she’d moved out of her hotel room and into Saul’s bedroom. She’d cleared it with Ryan by telling him she was doing it, and if he didn’t like it, he could get over it. She’d played it as she couldn’t stand the sight of Bradley, but in reality, she just wanted to spend more time with Saul. After some half-hearted protests, and her promise she would be on time, every time, he’d given her his blessing.

Saul had taken her home and then they’d gone back in his truck to pick up her clothes and other possessions. She grinned again and snuggled into his back a bit more. Home. She rather liked the way that sounded.

They pulled to a stop at a light and as the Harley thrummed between their legs, he reached back with his right hand and gave her thigh a caress. He was looking forward to getting home with her, even more so than usual.

Yesterday morning, he’d been bitching at her good-naturedly how having to stop at the hotel on the way to location for her to shower and change, or stop on the way back from location so she could pick up some clothes for the next day was a pain in the ass and it would be easier if she just brought her stuff to his house.

He grinned as the light went green and he put his hand back on the throttle, remembering the shocked look on her face.

“You want me to…move in…with you?” she’d asked as she looked at him with wide eyes.

“It’s not exactly moving in. I mean, you’re eventually going to have to go back to LA, right? But yeah. Why not? Don’t you think it would be easier?”

She’d stared at him for several long moments, then smiled. “Sure. Why not? I’m here every night anyway, right?”

“Right!” he’d agreed, and that had been that. Ryan hadn’t looked too pleased, but she hadn’t given him any option.

He snorted, his smile widening as he gave the hog the beans and shot the gap between two cars, carving through traffic, enjoying the Harley and the back warmer behind him. He’d had a woman spend a couple of nights before, but they all knew to bring a change of clothes or they were wearing the same clothes home because he didn’t want any of their shit in his house. But he didn’t mind Angela’s stuff there. Granted it was only a week’s worth of clothes and her toiletries, but that was far more than he would have tolerated from any other woman.

He grinned again as he whacked the throttle open, the Harley lunging through a yellow light before it turned red. All he knew was not having to stop at the hotel was going to save them at least an hour a day, and he couldn’t wait to get her back home and in bed so he could make good use of the extra time.

“1923,” he said as she stepped off the bike in his drive.

“What?”

“1923. The combination to the garage.”

She grinned, unexpectedly pleased he’d given her the combination, then keyed the numbers to start the door rumbling up. He kicked the bike into the garage and stepped off. As soon as they stepped into the kitchen, he swung her around and into a kiss. It didn’t have the white hot heat of some of his kisses, but it was deep and erotic, and it filled her with warmth.

“That was nice,” she breathed as he let her go.

“I have something for you.”

“I have something for you, too,” she purred.

He chuckled. “That’s not what I meant, though I’m looking forward to getting what you’re offering.” He began to search his pockets, his face becoming comically alarmed as his search became more frantic. When she began to look concerned, he grinned and reached back into his pocket and pulled out a key, holding it up in display.

“What’s that?” she asked, though she had a pretty good idea.

“Key to the house. I slipped away and had it made while you were working.” He pressed it into her hand and closed it around it then grinned. “Last night I looked for but couldn’t find my spare. Now that I’ve had that one made, I’ll probably find it.”

“Are you sure you want to do this?”

He chuckled. “Yes. I can’t have you standing around in the yard waiting for me to get home. The neighbors will talk. Just give it back when you leave.”

She grinned. “Maybe I’ll just keep it.”

“Only if you give me a key to your place.”

She began to look around the kitchen. “Where’s my damn purse?”

He chuckled then picked her up and sat her on the counter. Her lips were at the perfect height so he stepped in close. He kissed her slowly, deeply as her heels hooked his legs to prevent him from stepping back.

“What are we going to do with our extra time,” he breathed as the kiss dissolved.

“I have a suggestion,” she murmured, his lips so close to hers she could feel him breathing.

“What?”

“I feel like a good, strenuous workout.”

He kissed her again. “I like your suggestion.”

“Me too.”

He lifted her off the counter and she locked her legs around his back and her arms around his neck. He pulled her in tight then carried her down the short hall to his bedroom. As she entered she unhooked her legs and he put her down.

“Give me a couple of minutes,” she breathed, pulling him in for another slow and luxurious kiss. She pulled back and looked into his eyes then smiled. “I want to freshen up.”

He smiled and followed her into the bathroom where he shaved and brushed his teeth as she washed her face then brushed her teeth.

He was turning the linens back, wearing nothing but his underwear, when she stepped into the bedroom wearing only her bra and panties. He looked at her and smiled, stepping into in close to kiss her again, starting with her lips then working his way down her neck and under her chin before he kissed his way down her breasts. Her sigh as she held his head to her chest made him ache for her.

He returned to her lips, kissing her slowly then pulled her toward the bed. He was turning her, reaching behind her to unhook her bra, when he heard the crash of a door being kicked in.
