Savage Kiss: BBW Paranormal Shape Shifter Romance (Savage Shifters Book 2) by Milly Taiden (22)

During the show, they were brought drinks. She was too engrossed in watching she’d barely touched her wine, but noticed Feral had stuck to drinking soda. Drinkers were not her thing, but she hadn’t expected a shifter to not drink. They never got drunk.

Afterward, they walked down Broadway to Fifth Avenue, got some coffee and continued until they reached 59th Street. On their way down to Third Avenue, she realized during their walk, she got to see a different side of him.

Though it was Saturday, the streets were not as crowded as she knew they could be. Probably because the holiday vacations hadn’t started yet. He held her hand as they passed the big retail shops of the popular street. She wondered when the last time she’d felt this comfortable and safe with a man had been.

Never. It was daunting and she wasn’t sure what to make of it. Feral had a way of making her feel secure in a city as fast-paced and crazy as New York like no other man.

“How about a burger?” he asked, flashing her a sexy smile.

“In this cold,” she said, “I’d love something warm. So yes, a burger sounds good.”

He stopped and zipped up her coat and hugged her to his side. “We’re almost there.”

She saw stores she hadn’t seen since her last visit. Bloomingdales and Dylan’s Candy Bar.

“If you didn’t have a place in mind, I’d be dragging you to Cabana Nuevo Latino,” she laughed. “I’m a fan of their Cuban food.”

“I’ve been there. Their skirt steak is delicious.”

She nodded and snuggled closer to him. “They make the best Piña Coladas! And from what I heard, from someone I went with, their Mojitos are amazing.”

“Coconut, right?”

She snorted and slapped his abs. Good god, those abs were damn hard. “I thought you didn’t drink.”

“I don’t, but I did go to college up here. I gave it a try when a classmate dared me. They were pretty good.”

She laughed at the fact he had to be dared to drink. “I’m not a drinker, but they looked damn good the time an old co-worker got one.”

“I stick to their food. The meat is delicious. Seasoned enough that all you get are the flavors from the spices.”

She groaned. “God, now you’re making me extra hungry.”

They crossed the street and walked until they stopped at Serendipity 3.

“Are you serious?” She chuckled. “Here?”

He opened the door to the restaurant and held it for her. “Heck yes. Their cheddar burgers are amazing.”

Yeah, he was right on that account. Serendipity 3 had a pretty great menu. She’d always felt like she needed to be there with some children so they could be a reason for her to be having frozen hot chocolate or a banana split the size of her head.

They were still the same as she remembered. Delicious. The food was great. The service was fantastic and the massive banana split he made her share with him was so over the top, she had to send Isaline a photo.

Her phone buzzed instantly.

“I think that’s your sister.”

She glanced at the screen and laughed. “You’re right. She demands I bring her one of everything and says I’ll be forced to eat Mom’s tofu if I don’t.”

He glanced at the near empty sundae. “I guess tofu it is, huh?”

She shrugged. “Meh, I’ve had worse. It’s not so bad. Mom just makes it and all those healthy dishes to make sure Isa doesn’t eat herself under a table.”

“I don’t think she’ll appreciate that information when we don’t bring back ice cream.”

She winked at her sexy tiger. “Too bad. How’s Ramsey?”

He helped her out of the restaurant once he’d settled the check. “You know she’s great. Dying to see you. She had to get Reysha and Hawk to promise to bring you back so she could spend more time drawing with you.”

Outside the restaurant, the limo they’d taken earlier was waiting for them. They got in and once she was snuggled next to him, they were back on the road.

“I’ll go back and see her. She’s precious.”

He tipped her chin to meet her gaze. “Will you come back with me?”

She cleared her throat, nerves making her stomach buzz with anxiety. “I have a show to put together, at the theater. I can’t go anywhere for a few days.”

He nodded. “Then I’m staying with you. I’m not leaving until you’re mine.”

She stared into his bright golden eyes and scrunched her lips. “Are you sure you want to do that? You were just attacked here. What if those people take over your pride?”

He gave a wide grin. “I have people that can handle things while I’m gone. They handle my resort as well. I won’t leave here until you are ready to come with me.”

She looked away from him, unsure how she felt about that. This was moving so fast. Her emotions were all over the place, but her heart told her to go for it. What did she have to lose?

He picked her up and placed her on his lap, holding her tightly in his arms. “I’m not going anywhere, Sage. The world can fall apart around us, and I’ll be here. I’ll be with you. You are my world.”
