Sin & Saint (Executioners Book 4) by J.M. Dabney (12)

This Was the Life

Sin hummed as he moved through the aisles of Pleasure and straightened the shelves. Saint was at his usual post at the register working on the endless list of website updates Fred hated to do. They’d spent the last three days at Camden’s house only leaving to go to work. Camden made them dinner every night. Then he tucked them into bed beside him every night. That was the life he’d imagined with the three of them.

Camden was surprisingly attentive and affectionate with them. Kisses, hugs, and cuddling, but no sex. It was odd, men had tried to fuck him and Saint for years and the man they loved didn’t seem to be in a hurry. Odd but nice.

The moaning sounded signaling a customer, and he stood on his tiptoes to peek over one of the shelves. Pure walked in, and the big man had a smile on his handsome face. The former SWAT sniper and now bounty hunter/bodyguard was a massive cutie. Even with stubble, the man was downright pretty.

“Look at this, our number one customer.” He ran toward Pure and threw his arms around the man’s waist.

“I don’t come here that often.”

“You so do. What are you here to replace Raul with?”

“I’m not replacing Raul because there is no Raul and me.”

He sucked his teeth and shook his head. Since Raul came to work for Trenton Security on a more full-time basis, Pure upped his usual shopping trips. Pure thought he hid his interest, but the man sucked at not drooling over the hot bounty hunter.

“Lie to everyone else including yourself, but we’ve seen the porn videos you’ve bookmarked.”

Pure went bright red, and he chuckled at the big man.

“Stay away from my laptop, and you’re never invited to my house again.”

“You should password protect that bitch.”

“Pure, what are you looking for today?” Saint asked with a smile and walked out from behind the counter.

“Saint at least doesn’t want to embarrass me.”

“I don’t want to embarrass you. Raul is pretty hot.”

“He’s okay,” Pure muttered and walked off.

“Leave Pure alone. Raul will make him give in sooner or later.”

“That is true, Raul has been awful interrogate-y since he found out Pure comes here.”

“Camden texted and said he wouldn't be home until late. He said we didn't have to stay at the house tonight.”

“Of course we're going to be there.”

Things weren’t perfect, but this wasn’t some fairy tale bullshit. Camden felt right to them, and they’d decided they were all in. Camden needed them, and they’d be there. He understood the man’s need for space. What was happening between them was new and as such they’d have a lot of trial and error before they found the right routine for them.

“We don’t get out of here until eight, and we need to make a stop at the house for clothes.”

“You do know, Saint, Camden prefers us naked.”

“I have no idea why he insists on us being nude while he walks around the house fully clothed in that damn uniform of his. It’s fucking torture.”

He giggled as his annoyed brother stormed off. To be honest, he thought Camden had the naked rule more for Saint’s benefit. His twin was confident or at least faked it well, around their friends, but he was still unsure around Camden. Except for the weight difference they were exactly the same, and over the years, Saint grew to despise the comparison made between them. Being identical twins made it difficult to be considered separate entities.

Their man filled out a uniform, but it wasn’t as sexy as the black tactical gear Camden wore the night shit went nuclear out at Brawlers and the old, corrupt Sheriff ended up dead. It wasn’t love at first sight but lust for sure. The more time they’d had with Camden, the stories they’d heard, they’d quickly come to see the man as more than a jerk-off fantasy. Finally, they had him, and they weren’t going to fuck it up.

That started with them showing Camden they didn’t give a shit about the age difference.

He went back to work. The night passed quickly with a steady stream of customers and a few friends coming in to hang out. Pleasure wasn’t a booming business in a town like Powers, but the website saved their asses. Their mama said they could come back to work for her, but as exciting as the travel and adrenaline were, it would keep them away from Camden and their friends. He and Saint talked about a change of scenery over the years. Yet this is where they belonged and were safe.

He walked from the back after stashing the night deposit in the safe and found Saint stowing the laptop under the counter. They worked together as they turned off all the lights, set the alarm and locked the door. They joined arms as they walked toward their house. It was a short walk, but they liked the fresh air after being cooped up inside most of the day.

“Do you think if everything works out, Camden might like a ceremony like Elijah had with his men?”

“I don’t know, should we go look at rings?”

“No, I was just thinking, ya know?”

He tugged Saint off balance, and his twin stumbled against him. “I know, you also went out yesterday on your break to fly. So, what’s on your mind?”

“He hasn’t tried to have

“Sex isn’t all about penetration.”

“I know that, and I get it, but

“There’re no buts here. We’ve got our man, sleeping beside him every night. Can’t get much better than that. So, we’ll go with the flow, and it’ll work out just like it’s supposed to. Let’s go to the house, pack a bag for the evening and clothes for work. We’ll go home and make Camden dinner.”

“Home? Camden might not appreciate us taking over his house.”

“He did give us a key.”

“Very true. Implies we can come and go as we please.”

They walked up the cracked sidewalk and let themselves into their house. They moved out of Ernie’s place at eighteen and rented their house. Peaches definitely didn’t charge them as much as she probably should for the house. It was a way for them to have independence and they appreciated it, even though they argued to pay regular rent over the last few years.

Peaches would just smile and say they’d have a new place soon.

“Should we just pack a bag for a few nights instead of coming here before work every day?”

“Let’s pack. Oh, did I tell you Mama’s coming to visit?”

“Shit, no. When did you talk to Mama?”

“Ernie patched her through while I was in the air yesterday.”

Their mama wasn’t the easiest woman to get along with. She was opinionated and crazy, and she knew nothing about personal space or boundaries. She was like Lucky’s mom. They loved her, but some people couldn’t get past the outspokenness.

“We’re going to have to tell Camden.”

“When he comes home tonight. Let’s get packed.”

They stuffed a bag full of clothes and personal items into a duffel. It didn’t take long to get on the road. Making a stop at the grocery store for things they were low on and quickly headed out of town. He and Saint relaxed at the same time as they pulled into the long driveway. It was home. It felt right.

They parked and headed inside. Saint headed for the kitchen, and he headed upstairs to put their bag in the bedroom. They hadn’t made the bed before they left that morning. He set the bag down.

He loved Saint more than himself most days. His twin was the only reason he got out of bed. He’d tried to be the strong one, put himself between Saint and the bullies—between everyone who had wanted to hurt Saint. Accepting the bruises and all the things he couldn’t change to make sure Saint was okay. The night he let the wrong man near him, the bastard had thought he was Saint, and he’d pretended. He’d kept that secret, and he’d told Camden part of it. For once he’d felt safe being with Camden. Secure that tomorrow would be okay and the day after, all the ones that followed.

“Sin, come help me with dinner.”

“Coming, I’m just straightening the bed.”

“Well hurry up, Camden texted he’s on his way here after some meeting. I told him we were home.”

Camden would be home soon. He quickly made the bed but left it turned down. He kicked off his shoes and went to help Saint with dinner.
