CHAPTER THIRTY-SIX
Storm jerked when he heard Emilia’s voice. Her voice sounded faint and faraway, but he was sure that she was in the castle. He heard her screaming for help, screaming for him.
“Emilia!” he roared. “Emilia!”
Storm spewed a stream of fire at the windows but the windows remained sealed. Banet had sealed them off magically to stop him from leaving.
Storm felt an electric current surging through him as his power rose with his fury. He was a stormfire dragon, and he held a special power over lightning. Electricity coursed through his veins, and he could feel the deadly energy building up all around him.
Storm let out a roar of pure wrath and a bolt of lightning slammed into the wall. The wall shattered and Storm ran straight at the broken wall.
Shifting into dragon form, he exploded from the castle and launched himself into the air.
“Storm!”
Storm turned around at Seath’s shout. He saw his younger brother hanging on to the tip of his tail, and trying to climb his way up to his back.
There was no time to waste. Storm flew around the castle and caught sight of Emilia. She was standing at the edge of a balcony with a dark-haired man. As Storm sped to her, he saw the man lunge at Emilia and toss her over the balcony.
As Emilia fell, the man dived off the balcony and shifted into a black dragon. The black dragon snatched Emilia up with its talons and soared away.
“That dragon’s got Emilia!” Seath yelled. “Hurry, Storm!”
Seath was now crouching on Storm’s back and pointing at the black dragon. Storm flew faster, his rage spurring him on.
That bastard had thrown Emilia off the balcony to terrorize and traumatize her. She thought that she was going to die, and that sadistic dragon had enjoyed every moment of her fear and suffering.
Storm spat a ball of fire at the black dragon, aiming the fire at his wing. But the dragon veered sharply and changed course.
Storm gave chase, keeping the enemy in his sights. He could see Emilia dangling from the dragon’s talons, and she had her eyes squeezed tightly shut.
“Storm, fly above that black dragon,” Seath said. “I’m going to jump on him!”
Storm turned to give his brother a look. Seath nodded sharply, his green eyes narrowing with grim determination and anger. “No one treats my family like that! I know what I’m doing,” Seath assured him. “We fight as a team. I get him from above, and you get Emilia. Trust me!”
Storm did trust Seath. Seath was smart and strong, and Storm knew his baby brother could handle himself in a fight.
Storm gave a quick nod and increased his speed and altitude. He flew faster and higher, until he was flying directly above the black dragon.
“Now,” Seath whispered and leaped.
Storm watched his brother land neatly on the black dragon’s back. The enemy roared and twisted in the air, hoping to throw Seath off, but Seath held on and steadily crawled his way up the dragon’s neck.
Storm saw Seath holding his trusty pocket knife in his grip. His pocket knife was useless against the dragon’s hard scales, but Storm knew what his brother was doing.
Their big brother, Sky, had taught them how to fight and defend themselves at a young age, and he always told them, “If your opponent is much bigger than you, aim for the eyes.”
That was exactly what Seath was doing. He was aiming for the black dragon’s eye.
