The evening had gone great, even with the embarrassing encounter with Delaney’s friend. I didn’t regret that encounter since it helped me get some more insight into Delaney and her fantasies. I’d just pulled up to Delaney’s house when I decided to break the silence. “You’ve been quiet since we left the restaurant.”

She looked across at me. “I’ve been trying to decide how this evening is going to end. That means going over every possible outcome in my mind.”

“I was thinking I’d walk you to your door and kiss you goodnight,” I began with a cocky grin. “Naturally, you’ll beg me to stay.”

“How can I possibly resist?” she asked with a teasing grin.

“You can’t,” I assured her. “The kiss I’ll give you will leave us both panting and aching for more.”

“Then maybe you’ll be the one begging me to invite you in,” she taunted.

“I don’t beg,” I assured her.

“I can’t decide if your arrogance is annoying, amusing, or a turn on,” Delaney stated. “Regardless of which it is, I think your claim is more than a little hard to believe. Wanda was right about you being excited by our game at the bar.”

“I might beg for you,” I agreed.

Delaney’s tongue moved along her lower lip. She wasn’t doing it to tease me, but that was exactly what it was doing. More than anything, I wanted to lean forward and run my tongue along her lower lip. My eyes were locked on her mouth, and I couldn’t seem to look away.

“Would you like to come inside?” she asked, her sultry voice heating my blood and making me struggle to maintain my self-restraint. That was a new experience for me, and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go with it, or gain control of the situation again.

“I would like very much to go inside,” I told her.

“For sex?” she added.

I had trouble containing my laughter. Her question was further proof of how out of practice she was at this sort of thing. I wondered if Delaney had ever invited a man into her home this early in the dating process.

“For whatever you want,” I replied.

Her smile was pure seduction. “Something tells me you won’t let me have that much control over you.”

I chuckled at her comment before giving in to the temptation to brush my thumb across her lower lip. “You really have no idea how much control you already have over me, do you?”

Not giving her a chance to respond, I climbed out of the car and met her on the passenger’s side, leaning in to brush my lips against her cheek. Part of me wanted to ask her if she was sure, but I didn’t want her to start worrying about what could go wrong. Some people have rules about how many dates one should wait before having sex, but I’d always found that idea ridiculous. There was no magical number. I wasn’t completely convinced Delaney wouldn’t put a stop to things tonight. She was fidgeting nervously with her keys the entire way to the front door, and I was amazed she managed to get the key in the lock.

Standing in her living room, I slipped my arms around her from behind and pulled her against my chest.

“Would you like a drink?” she asked.

“What I would like is that kiss goodnight we talked about,” I told her, turning her to face me. “After that, we can see where things go.”

“Stop being so sweet,” she responded, giving my chest a firm smack.

I looked down at her hand on my chest and frowned. “Did you just hit me for being too nice?”

Delaney also looked at her hand on my chest, and the little vixen smiled at me. “Yes, I did. It’s just that I understand you’re trying not to pressure me, but I don’t want sweet and tender.”

“What do you want?” I asked. My fingers tangled in the hair at the back of her head.

“Dominant and passionate like the men in my books,” she replied without hesitation.

“You want dominant?” I asked, tightening my hold on her hair.

“Please,” Delaney moaned, her eyes drifting shut.

My lips crashed down on hers as my free hand moved to her lower back. I held her in place for my kiss, savoring her mouth and the enticing little whimpers coming from the back of her throat.

Delaney’s hands slid under my shirt, her nails raking against my skin as my tongue explored her sweet mouth. She tasted like tequila. I loved the way she gave herself over to me. “I guess you’ll find out soon,” she teased as her fingers moved from under my shirt to grip my hair and try to pull my head back down to hers.

“You are so damn hot,” I praised, brushing my lips against hers again, but not giving her the kiss she wanted. “Your mouth could become an addiction. I’m dying to find out if the rest of you tastes this good.”

Delaney’s response was a throaty moan. “We need to go to my bedroom,” she said as I cupped her left breast.
