Sultry at 30 (Love Without Batteries) by Cassandra Lawson (26)

Delaney

Damn Sebastian and his handcuffs!

He’d been right about them inspiring me in my writing. Dax and Marissa had been having much kinkier sex since I’d met Sebastian, and I’d written a scorching scene involving handcuffs. After that, I’d needed to go to my room to try to relieve a little tension with my replacement for Justin, The Green Goblin. It was my first time using my new vibrator, and I may have jinxed him with the name. He really was a horrible lover. The vibrations were all wrong, and despite looking like he was the same shape as Justin, the clit stimulator didn’t hit the right spot. It was a horribly awkward situation, and The Green Goblin was now in the drawer with my other disappointing vibrator purchases.

Naturally, I had to share this latest disappointment with my friends in a group text.

ME: The Green Goblin arrived. Such a disappointment.

No one replied right away, so I decided to share more details.

ME: Sebastian gave me handcuffs.

CHELS: Did you really name that vibrator The Green Goblin?

ME: It’s green and probably glows in the dark. Brook called him a sex goblin first, and I couldn’t get the name out of my head.

BROOK: I think we jinxed it with the name.

ME: I was thinking the same thing.

CHELS: Now, about those handcuffs. . .

ME: LOL! You are such a pervy little rope bunny, aren’t you?

BROOK: Rope bunny? I’ve never heard that one.

CHELS: Delaney has been looking up all the terminology so she can be a proper submissive for Sebastian.

BROOK: Did he collar you yet?

I laughed at Brook’s question. As near as I could tell, Brook was the most vanilla person in my acquaintance. I still had my suspicions about her enjoying a good spanking, but she refused to confirm or deny that suspicion. I was a much better friend—one who shared all my naughty fun with my friends.

ME: Sebastian isn’t that kinky. He is evil though. I can’t believe he left these handcuffs with me and told me I’d have to wait until next week for him to use them. I may die from horniness in the meantime.

CHELS: You can’t die from horniness. Only teen boys think that.

BROOK: Why not just stay with Sebastian?

That was a good question. I’d given Sebastian the reason of needing to focus on my writing, and it was true, but that wasn’t the only reason I’d come home. I’d spent the last two weeks with Sebastian, mostly at his home. On days when I had piano lessons, we’d stayed at my place. We’d only known each other three weeks. When Sebastian had referred to his bedroom as our bedroom, the reality of the situation had hit me. I was pretty much living with a guy I’d just met. So, I’d made up a bunch of excuses to give myself some space. Despite what the characters in my books did, it was insane to move in with Sebastian this soon. The problem with my argument was that I felt like I knew Sebastian better than I’d known Cody after a year of marriage. I decided to be honest with my friends. They wouldn’t judge me.

ME: I got scared. I haven’t known him long.

CHELS: That makes sense.

BROOK: I can see why you’d get nervous. Things are moving fast.

ME: I really like him.

BROOK: We know, sweetie. I’m sure he’s also figured that out.

CHELS: He’d better have figured that out. If not, he’s too dumb for you.

ME: I doubt anyone calls Sebastian dumb.

CHELS: Then he knows you like him. Are you regretting going home for the week?

ME: Yes.

BROOK: Why not have him pick you up? I’m sure he’d be happy to take you back to his sex dungeon.

ME: Sex dungeon? What have you been reading, Brook?

CHELS: I loaned her a few books.

That explained Brook’s attempt to throw in BDSM phrases.

ME: I don’t think real people have sex dungeons. I could be wrong.

CHELS: They might.

BROOK: The collar thing is real, right?

ME: I promise to educate you on the BDSM world later.

BROOK: Does this mean Sebastian is your Dom?

I had to laugh at my friend’s question. Brook seemed to have channeled her inner me that day.

ME: No, he’s not my Dom. I just read a bunch of stuff for research. What should I do about Sebastian?

CHELS: Stop stressing about it.

BROOK: She’s right. This week may be a good time for you to think about your feelings for Sebastian and where you want things to go with him. Just don’t spend it mentally sabotaging things with Sebastian.

Before I could respond, I noticed a text from Sebastian had come in. I clicked on his text.

SEBASTIAN: Did you unpack your suitcase yet?

ME: Not yet. Why? Are you trying to convince me to go back to your place?

SEBASTIAN: I wouldn’t argue if you wanted me to pick you up, but that’s not why I asked. I put a present in there for you.

ME: More bondage toys?

SEBASTIAN: Why don’t you check your suitcase?

I set my phone on the bed and grabbed my suitcase. Inside there was indeed a present. It was wrapped in white paper with black polka dots. The large pink bow had been crushed. I was certain Sebastian hadn’t wrapped it. There was a card attached to the top. The envelope had the words, Open after the gift, written on the outside. As I opened the gift, I couldn’t hold back my gasp of surprise. Under the paper was a box—the same type of box Justin had come in. Certain, I had to be seeing things, I open the box, and removed the vibrator—Justin’s twin. Next I opened the card.

Delaney,

My sister has a friend who used to host pleasure parties, and she still had a few things left in her inventory. I hope you enjoy having this around when I’m not there to make you scream.

Yours,

Sebastian

I was having a lot of trouble believing what he’d done. Many women wouldn’t consider this a romantic gesture, but the fact that Sebastian had put effort into finding this exact model for me, made me feel a little weepy.

My first text was to Brook and Chelsea. I know that’s crazy, but I was too excited to keep this to myself.

ME: Sebastian found Justin’s twin. He hid it in my suitcase.

CHELS: You need to marry him.

BROOK: Agreed. Now, call him and talk dirty to that man. He deserves it.

He deserved so much more than that. Insane as it might be, this made me feel much more secure in my feelings for Sebastian. He just got me.

Sebastian answered my call on the first ring. “Hey there, beautiful.” His voice vibrated through the line and moved along my skin like a caress.

“I can’t believe you did this for me,” I told him, my voice filled with emotion.

Sebastian chuckled. “We really are a strange couple. When I got that from my sister, she suggested I get you jewelry instead. I told her you’d much rather have this.”

“This is definitely the perfect gift,” I assured him. “I wish I’d known it was there before I tried using The Green Goblin.”

“The Green Goblin?” he asked around a laugh.

“My replacement attempt for Justin,” I explained. “It’s a very bright green. Sadly, the goblin couldn’t get the job done.”

“That’s probably just as well,” he began. “The name is not at all sexy. Who wants to spend the evening being pleasured by The Green Goblin?”

“My friends didn’t like the name either,” I added.

“What did your friends say about my gift to you?” he asked.

“What makes you think I told them before I called you?” was my response.

“I know you,” he replied. “Does that scare you?”

“A little,” I confessed. “The idea is definitely growing on me.”

“I miss you,” he murmured. “I just went for a run to try to relieve some tension while I waited for you to find your present.”

“Why didn’t you give it to me in person?” I asked.

“I’m still a little jealous of your relationship with Justin,” he told me.

“You are not jealous of my vibrator,” I said with a laugh.

“I really am a little jealous,” he admitted. “That’s not really why I did this. I wanted to give you your space, but I liked the idea of you coming across this surprise after I left.”

“Would you laugh if I admitted this is the most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for me?” I asked.

“I definitely need to step up my game,” he muttered. “I have a confession to make.”

“What’s that?” I asked.

“I got you two of those vibrators,” he replied.

“You did?” I asked. “Where’s the other one?”

“My bedroom,” he replied. “Next week, when you’re handcuffed to my bed, I plan to use that toy on you, among other things.”

I nearly whimpered at the mental image Sebastian had painted. While I’d joked about having a threesome with Justin before, I’d never expected to be handcuffed to a bed while a hot younger guy pleasured me. I’d written plenty about toys being used, but somehow never believed it carried over to real life.

“This is going to be a long week,” I complained.

“But you were right about needing this time to yourself,” he added.

I felt a little bad about using my writing as an excuse. “It’s not all about my writing,” I admitted.

“I know,” he told me. “You need time to think without me distracting you.”

“Something tells me you’ll be a distraction even if you’re not here,” I grumbled.

“I certainly hope so,” he replied. “Think about me and remember all the reasons we’re good together.”

I could guarantee I’d be doing that during our week apart.
