Temptation in Neon: a poly paranormal vampire dark romance by Peter Dawes, P.W. Davies (14)

Chapter Fourteen

Liam studied Danny with curiosity laden in his expression until something within him snapped. Standing, he let go of Danny’s hand to produce his wallet, leaving a bill on the counter before he shoved it back in his pocket. Holding Danny firmly in his gaze throughout the duration of his actions, Liam reached for his hand and used it to tug their bodies flush. Sliding a hand under Danny’s jacket, his fingers shoved back the fabric and gradually freed it from Danny’s arm.

Danny responded by shrugging it the rest of the way off.

The vampire caught it and tossed it onto the bar. Shedding his own coat, he deposited it on top of Danny’s and left both garments there without paying them any further mind. “Mari’s going to be pissed if we lose those,” Danny said with a playful smirk.

“Right now,” Liam said, “I don’t give a damn.”

Eyeing Danny like a predator, Liam used their joined hands to lead him toward the dance floor. “You don’t remember the way you were dancing the other night,” Liam said. “Would you allow me to show you?”

“O-okay,” Danny said, his feet mirroring Liam’s slow, sedate pace. Once they had dissolved within the crowd, surrounded by its fever pitch, Liam released Danny from his hold and turned to face him. He rolled up his sleeves and once he had exposed his pale forearms, he lowered them to his sides. Gaze dark – eyes set on Danny – Liam swayed his hips. Gradually, the distance between them disappeared.

Danny felt his throat turn dry, his body moving closer out of instinct. While Liam’s hands settled on his hips, Danny’s settled on Liam’s arms, and together, the two men pressed against each other, the motion of their bodies creating the slightest amount of friction. The less Danny thought, the more feeling took over, directing him to sink into the music; to relish the feeling of Liam until the small amount of liquor burning within him made him start to lose himself. He shut his eyes, one hand sliding around Liam’s torso.

Liam responded by doing the same, settling his palm over the small of Danny’s back. Danny felt Liam undulate against him, the motion slight, but stirring Danny even further into lust, beckoning him that much more into the moment until Danny lost any sense of what might be happening around them. The back of his mind pictured the other vampires when Liam leaned in to kiss his neck. Danny imagined their teeth playing with the surface of their partners’ skin the same way Liam’s began to do with his, and as Danny gasped, he ground more against Liam.

“I swear to God, I could fuck you right here,” he whispered to Liam. The way Liam’s lips pursed around one of the old wounds his teeth had created made Danny shudder. ‘Not just fuck you,’ Danny thought. ‘I want that, but I want so much more.’ His leg lifted, Liam reaching to hold onto it, and though it challenged his balance, it brought them both one step closer to where they wanted to be.

“Not yet,” Liam said. “I want you practically begging for me first.”

“That isn’t going to take long,” Danny responded. As his hands clung onto the fabric of Liam’s shirt, he thought about fabric rending and gasped. “Do you want my shirt off?”

“No.” Liam nipped at his neck again. “You’re mine. And I don’t want anyone else seeing what belongs to me.” Danny nodded, expecting Liam to plunge his fangs into him and when he didn’t, something about the restraint made Danny ready to issue his first plea. “I’m going to let go of your leg,” he cautioned. “Turn around for me.”

Danny hummed his assent and turned once able. As he did, Liam shoved up against his back, his thumbs hooking into the loops on Danny’s pants and keeping them moving together in the same rhythm. Danny felt Liam turning hard against him. “I’m ready to start begging,” Danny murmured.

“Not yet.” Liam rested his head on Danny’s shoulder. Danny reached back for him, tilting his head back, and when he felt a swath of Liam’s cool skin against his cheek, he turned his head to lick it. Liam shuddered. Danny nipped, and when Liam felt Danny’s dull teeth claim superficial purchase on his skin, Liam groaned. One hand slid around to cup Danny through his trousers. Danny shivered and by the time the music had switched from one song to the next, they had begun to kiss. Liam spun Danny around, and when their mouths connected, Danny motioned to unfasten the buttons of Liam’s shirt.

The walk from there to a private, back room passed in a blur. When Liam threw Danny onto one of the couches, he frantically unfastened the rest of his shirt’s buttons and Danny followed suit, issuing approval when Liam climbed onto him, their bare chests touching. Danny looped his arms around Liam’s neck, one hand gripping onto the long locks of Liam’s hair as Liam kissed at his neck and up to Danny’s lips. Their tongues danced, mouths entangled while Liam undid Danny’s pants and pulled down the zipper. Danny’s eyes rolled back when Liam reached in and groped his cock.

“Oh, fuck yes,” Danny said, the words falling from his lips like he’d offered Satan his soul. Liam stroked him, and Danny arched his back, hips rocking in time to the deliberate way Liam’s hand slid up and down his shaft. “Is this how you had me when we were together at Nocturne?” Danny asked, breathless.

Liam’s hand paused, and at first, he didn’t answer. His silence caused Danny to open his eyes, nervous at first that he’d offended Liam somehow. Instead, he saw something soft amidst the hunger in Liam’s gaze, bearing a resolve he hadn’t seen present there until that moment. “No,” Liam said. “This is how I want you right now.” The touch of his lips bore more tenderness. He removed his hand, but did so only to push down Danny’s pants, leaving him beneath him, exposed. Danny expected, at first, to be penetrated, and braced himself for what might have been a somewhat painful entry.

When he slid inside Liam, however, his eyes shot open, watching as the vampire took him in from on top.

It made him briefly think of what Mari had done, though that thought was rapidly replaced by the sensation of Liam lowering onto him and steadily lifting himself up. While Danny kept his eyes focused on Liam, Liam did likewise, and in that moment, something inside Danny’s chest swelled to fill the entire space, his mouth muttering incoherent sounds that might as well have been a different form of begging.

Show me more,’ he thought. ‘I want to know more. I want to see all of it.’ The two of them bounded closer to mutually-discovered pleasure, Danny’s eyes set on Liam, until the orgasm creeping up on him became inescapable. Danny felt himself let go, a loud moan bellowing from his throat without any ability of being held back.

Liam shuddered mere seconds later and followed him into bliss.

Danny lost count of how many chills ran through his body, and though Liam parting their bodies made him groan again, the way Liam laid on top of him brought a languid smile to Danny’s lips. He played idly with Liam’s hair, combing his fingers through it, and let his mind wander down a host of pathways until it returned.

“Tell me something you haven’t told me about you yet,” he said.

Liam settled more of his weight onto his side, shifting it from on top of Danny to the couch where they laid. “I am far fonder of what you’re doing with your fingers right now than I dare admit,” he said.

Danny chuckled. “No, something other than that.”

“Oh, I see.” Liam hummed, placing a hand above Danny’s heart. “I used to be a sailor. Back when I was human.”

“Do you ever go sailing now?”

“It’s been some time. Our allergy to the sun makes sailing difficult.”

“We’ve got a whole river in our back yard. Two, in fact. Bet you could make a night of it.”

“Have you ever been on a boat?”

Danny laughed. “Not since some stupid cruise my parents took us on when I was nine. Not the same thing, I’m assuming.” As Danny spun a lock of hair around his finger, he shut his eyes again. “Have to say, your world’s been interesting so far.”

Liam didn’t speak at first. While the same, unsettled feeling tempted to tie Danny’s stomach in knots again, when Liam lifted from on top of Danny, he didn’t go far. Instead, his elbow leaned into the cushion beside Danny’s head. When a strand of Liam’s hair fell from behind his ear, Danny reached up to tuck it back into place. “Take me further,” Danny said.

“Further into my world?” Liam asked.

“Yes. Whatever that means to you.”

Liam nodded. As he leaned over, he shared a tender kiss with the other man and settled his head back down onto Danny’s shoulder. They laid together in silence for what felt like hours, fingers delicately roving, but not with the intent to tempt.

“Do you know what you’re asking?” Liam finally whispered.

When Danny said, “Yes,” Liam allowed silence to fall between them again. It didn’t take long until they gathered themselves together again, rejoining the rest of the crowd, but Danny felt that subtle change which had burrowed its way between them.

You’re mine,’ Liam had whispered to him.

After walking with Liam, back to the dance floor, Danny wrapped his arms around him and swayed with Liam to the soft music that had begun to play. “I’m yours,” Danny said, resting his head on Liam’s shoulder. The vampire remained quiet, but the way his arms wrapped around Danny spoke his answer in volumes. One of these days, he’d have to let Danny go, if he obeyed his boss’s command.

Slowly, however, he was losing his resolve to see that through.
