The Captain's Baby: An Mpreg Romance by Aiden Bates, Austin Bates (8)

8

After picking up luggage, toiletries, clothes and shoes, a new computer for Will, and a few other necessities, they had lunch in the airport steakhouse. Logan watched with amusement as his lover downed an entire steak. Afterward, they sorted through all of their belongings, checked their luggage, and were browsing the airport gift shop idly as they waited for their plane to board.

Will was looking at postcards, wondering if he should send everyone something to say that yes, he was still alive. It wasn’t an easy thing to explain. The university would probably like to know in some other way than just a postcard. He owed Tracy a phone call, certainly. But it was tempting to send out the same thing to everyone he knew “Greetings from Alaska! Still alive. Pregnant. Moving to New Zealand. Best wishes, Will.”

In the end, he did pick one, with a beautiful landscape on it, to send to his parents. They deserved to know, but probably didn’t need much more than that postcard.

“Will!” Logan’s voice called to him from another spot in the store.

He went over to see what Logan was looking at, and maybe it was the pregnancy hormones, but tears nearly came to his eyes. Logan was holding a stuffed orca whale, the perfect size for a newborn’s first toy.

“What do you think, babe? A little piece of Alaska for our kid.”

“It’s perfect,” Will said, taking the orca and holding it to his chest.

Logan wrapped his arm around his shoulders, and took him up to the counter to pay. He saw the postcard.

“Who’s that for?”

Will smiled a little. “My parents. I figure they should at least know I’m alive, and having their grandkid.”

Logan nodded, smiling back. “That makes sense. Do you have a good relationship with your parents?”

Will shrugged. “Sort of. We don’t talk much. Dad is an alpha in a big town, so he’s always busy with that. Once I started studying for my doctorate they got used to not hearing from me.”

Logan shook his head. “You should try to talk to them more while you still have them. For the baby, too. No grandparents on my side.”

Will looked at Logan thoughtfully. He could tell his mate was controlling his tone very carefully, but he seemed sad, or maybe bitter.

“You’ll have to tell me about it sometime,” he said gently as they left the gift shop.

“I know,” Logan admitted, and Will let it go. Logan could tell him when he was ready.

Logan hadn’t been on a plane in a while, and it was going to be a very long flight. Thirty hours, including a couple stopovers. He realized he’d essentially gotten as far away from home as possible. Somehow, he had to pull himself together enough to tell Will why. It wasn’t like it was a secret, but it was painful, and he wasn’t excited to share it and bring up those memories again.

Besides, then he would have to tell Will about his plan, and it wasn’t a very smart plan.

He wrapped his arm around Will’s shoulders and cuddled close to him in their seats, and was relieved to feel Will cuddle close as well, taking comfort in him.

The stewardess came by to offer drinks, and Will declined, but Logan paused, checking in with his mate. Was it all right if he had a drink? Will gave him a little smirk, as if amused that his alpha would even ask permission, but he nodded, and Logan thought he had won a few points for being considerate. He was trying.

“Do you think it’s going to be a girl or a boy?” Logan asked, after his drink. He was feeling just a little bit more open, despite the fact that they were on a public plane.

Will smiled up at him, and Logan’s heart pounded in his chest. The man was so beautiful.

“I don’t know. It doesn’t really matter, anyway. Gender is…” He shrugged. “But I do wonder about what sort of person they’re going to be. What they’ll want to do with their life. I want them to have every opportunity they can.”

Logan smirked. “Hopefully they like adventure a little less than me.”

Will laughed softly. “You’re not the only one who enjoys adventure, you know. I wasn’t out there in the water with giant killer whales because I was afraid of adventure.”

“That’s true. You’re one of the bravest people I know,” Logan said with a nod.

The way Will’s face lit up was worth every word. Logan had the wry thought that maybe he should drink small amounts more often, but he reprimanded himself for it. He had to try to build better habits. Be a better man. For his kid and for Will.

“Thank you,” Will said, and kissed his cheek. He yawned. “How long have we been on this plane, anyway?”

Logan groaned, trying to stretch his legs. “Too fuckin’ long, that’s what,” he growled.

Will smiled and rested his head on Logan’s chest. “I think I’m just going to sleep here,” he decided.

How could he resist that? Will looked so sweet, his cherubic face peaceful, long lashes resting against his cheeks as he closed his eyes.

“Yeah, go ahead,” he murmured affectionately.

Suddenly, he heard his mother’s scream. Saw a monstrous wolf’s jaws. He swallowed hard and shifted a bit in his seat, trying to calm down. He didn’t have to tell Will that story just yet. Why was he thinking about it?

What if the same thing happened to their baby? What if he and Will were killed, and their child was orphaned? Would he become like Logan? Would the cycle continue? He didn’t want his child to be afraid like he was. He wanted the baby to grow up to be strong and brave like Will. Resilient. Not running, ready to take on anything in his path. He was the alpha in their relationship, but somehow Will managed to outclass him in confidence and bravery. He thought it must be the security that growing up with both of his parents had given him. Logan wanted that for their child more than anything.

He ran his fingers through Will’s hair gently, and then kissed his forehead. He’d just have to protect them both. Never let it happen. That meant he knew one alpha that had to die.

By the time they got to Auckland, Will felt like he was much further along in his pregnancy. It had only taken about two days, but somewhere in that time he had begun to see a bump, and he felt heavier in general. He was glad that they had done the flight early in his pregnancy. It could have been a lot worse.

They got another hotel. Will was pretty sure Logan knew where he was going, but that didn’t mean they had a place to live yet, and it was nerve wracking. Adventure, he reminded himself. As long as he and Logan were together, he felt safe, and he was ready to try new things, including being homeless. After all, he essentially had been when he’d been at sea. Why would it be so different on land?

Will collapsed onto the big hotel room bed with a happy sigh, his body stretched out. He caught Logan looking at him and smirked.

“What is it?”

“I can see it now. The baby.”

Will flushed and pulled his shirt down.

“I should have bought bigger sizes. I don’t know what I was thinking.”

“I don’t think either of us really thought about your body changing so soon,” Logan admitted. “It seemed like it was our secret. I was getting used to that.”

Now everybody would know, Will realized. Shifters having male pregnancies wasn’t uncommon, but there were still people, like Logan’s crew, who didn’t like shifters and didn’t want them around. Usually, most people couldn’t tell, but while he was pregnant he was going to be subject to quite a bit of unwelcome racism, not to mention the usual comments from well-meaning strangers.

Logan knelt by the bed and nuzzled at Will’s softly rounded stomach, kissing the bump.

“Shhh, don’t worry,” his alpha soothed. “We can get you more clothes. You can wear my shirts. I don’t care. It’s beautiful. You’re beautiful.”

Will couldn’t help but smile, but he was still flushed.

“You think so?”

“Of course,” Logan nodded. “Look. This is our baby right here. In just a few months our little person will join us. How wonderful is that?”

Logan looked so sexy, Will suddenly realized. His Kiwi accent was strong when he was excited, and there on his knees, delighting over his tiny baby bump, he definitely looked like husband material.

You’re wonderful,” Will purred, and he stroked his fingers through Logan’s short hair, pulling him close.

He was hard. And horny, but not like he had been when he’d been in heat. This was different, less desperate, more playful. He still needed Logan, but mostly he wanted to get off.

Logan gave a low moan, and Will knew he could smell that arousal on him. His mate began to nuzzle at his cock through his pants, and Will moaned, too, pushing his hips up toward his lips.

“Please Alpha,” he whispered.

Logan eased off his jeans and kept nuzzling against his swollen cock through his briefs. He freed Will’s aching cock and wrapped his full lips around him, and Will bucked beneath him, whimpering in pleasure.

“Logan,” he moaned.

He wasn’t sure what had come over him, but Logan’s lips and tongue were so hot on him, they felt so amazing. He gripped his alpha’s hair and actually pushed him down, which might have pissed a few alphas off. Logan did growl at him, but he also took him deeper, sucking harder, and Will cried out softly, close already.

Logan didn’t tease him. He took him into his throat, took him deep again and again until Will tumbled into his release, filling Logan’s incredible mouth.

Alpha,” he groaned happily. “That was so good,” he panted.

Logan smirked and climbed on top of him, straddling his chest.

“Don’t think you’ll get off that easily, you brat.”

Will was faced with Logan’s thick, hard cock, and he grinned up at him, not minding at all.

“Make me,” he teased lightly, and was delighted when Logan grabbed a handful of his curly hair and pushed between his lips.

Will moaned, enjoying the musky scent of him and the sweet taste of his precum. He slowly sucked, but Logan pushed himself deeper, and that just made Will squirm with pleasure. He could probably get hard again just from Logan fucking his face so perfectly.

The more Logan got worked up, the less patient he was, and Will was in heaven by the end, happily having his mouth used, that enormous cock pulsing as it poured all over his tongue.

He swallowed down every drop, gazing up at Logan adoringly.

Logan pulled back, panting.

“You okay?”

Logan had been pretty rough, but Will had loved it. He kissed him, tasting himself on Logan’s full lips, and knowing that Logan tasted the same.

“Mmm. I’m great. You’re so sexy.” He pulled Logan in close, nuzzling at his throat, and Logan chuckled softly.

“God, you’re frisky.”

“I know,” Will admitted, amused. “Maybe it’s the hormones?”

“Maybe,” Logan agreed, kissing his belly. “I don’t hate it.”

Will didn’t really mind, either. He’d been feeling pretty sick for the first part of his pregnancy, so it was a relief to finally be feeling better. He was truly excited about being pregnant and getting to meet the baby. Things seemed to be turning up.
