Then You Happened (Happened Series Book 1) by Sandi Lynn (16)

Cameron

We lay there together, just like I had imagined, her body tangled with mine. The sheets half off the bed and my arms tightly wrapped around her while her head rested on my chest. We had completed another round of sex and it was amazing.

“Kirsty had the brilliant idea of booking Lure for my birthday party and you’re coming,” she said.

“I am?”

“Yes, and we’re going to celebrate your birthday too. Invite all your friends. It’s next Friday night.”

“Clubs really aren’t my scene.”

“I usually don’t go to clubs either, but it means a lot to her to do this, so I’m just going to go with it.”

“I’m leaving on Saturday,” I said. “And I want you to come with me.”

She lifted her head from my chest and looked at me. “Where are you going?”

“Back home for my birthday. My whole family will be there and I want you to come.”

“Back to that lake place?” she asked.

“Yes, and it’s called Lake Santeetlah.”

“To meet your family?”

“Well, my family will be there, so you’d have to meet them.”

“Are you only asking me because we just had sex? Because it’s only sex, Cameron; that’s it.”

My heart kind of ached when she said that. But I knew that she feared any type of relationship, so I decided to play it cool and go with the flow. If sex was all she wanted for now, then so be it.

“You’re right, Sierra. It is only sex. But I would like for you to go with me because you’ve never been there and I would like to show you nature.”

“I hate nature. I hate small towns and I hate lakes.”

I laughed at her response, even though I knew she was dead serious. “Listen, I’m taking ballroom dancing lessons with you and I’m going to your birthday party at a club. That’s two things right there that I’m not comfortable with, but I’m doing it anyway. So, you can do me this one favor and come to North Carolina with me.”

“When are you leaving?”

“Saturday. The day after your party. I was going to stay until Tuesday and then get back here and continue working on your house.”

“I’ll only go if we fly first class and you let me buy the tickets. Consider it your birthday gift.”

“I’ve never flown first class,” I said.

“It’s the only way I fly.”

I wasn’t going to argue with her. If she felt more comfortable flying first class, then that was what we’d do. She was already going to be in shock once we arrived in Robbinsville.

“Okay. First class it is, then.”

“Good. I’ll have Kirsty book our flight in the morning.” She smiled as she reached up and kissed my lips.

I closed my eyes as I held her and drifted off into a deep sleep.

“OH MY GOD! What is going on here?” Kirsty yelled as she saw Cameron and me in bed.

My eyes flew open and I saw her standing over me. “Get out of here,” I said as I waved my arm.

“Morning, Kirsty,” Cameron said.

“What time is it?” I asked.

“It’s seven o’clock. You’re supposed to be up and ready! Morning, Cameron.”

“Wild night.” I smiled. “You should try it some time.”

“Rub it in, why don’t you? I’ll be downstairs waiting,” she said as she walked out of the room.

Cameron chuckled as he rolled me over and climbed on top of me. “Good morning.”

“Good morning.” I smiled as he leaned down and kissed my lips.

“We better get up or she’ll have Rosa up here, beating us out of bed.”

“Yeah. I can’t believe I slept this late. Shit.”

“Go get ready for work and I’ll do the same. I’ll meet you in the kitchen for coffee.” He winked.

I climbed out of bed and stepped into the bathroom to take a shower. When I got out, there was a cup of coffee sitting on the bathroom counter with a note that read: “I thought you would like this now.” I smiled as I took a sip. It was sex. Only sex. Just like with my suits. In fact, it was amazing sex, great sex, the ultimate sex. Once I finished getting ready, I headed to the kitchen, where all eyes fell upon me when I entered.

“What?”

“Nothing,” Kirsty and James said at the same time as they looked down and continued eating their breakfast.

“So, you had sex last night with Builder Boy, eh?” Rosa said.

“So what if I did? My sex life is nobody’s business. This is my house and I’ll have sex in it. In fact, we had sex right here on this very counter,” I said as I put my finger on it.

“Good lord,” Rosa snapped as she took out the bleach and a rag.

Cameron walked through the door and all eyes turned to him. “Oh for God’s sake, we had sex! It was only sex. Now get over it and move on!” I snapped.

Cameron laughed as he sat at the table and Rosa set his plate of eggs in front of him.

“Kirsty, James; let’s go.”

I looked at Cameron and he winked at me. I bit down on my bottom lip as I smiled at him and then turned around and headed to the limo.

“Okay; spill it, Adams.”

“Spill what?”

“You know what! I want details. How was he? How big is his cock?”

I looked up at James and he was shaking his head from the front seat. I lightly kicked Kirsty and she got the hint.

“Not that size matters. I just wondered. It really doesn’t matter.”

“He was amazing and, to answer your question, yes, his cock is quite large and the best I think I’ve ever had. Now, with that being said, I need you to book two tickets to Robbinsville, NC for next Saturday.”

“Huh?” she asked with a weird look on her face.

“Cameron asked me to go home with him for his birthday.”

“Oh, so does this mean you’re in a relationship now?” she asked with a smile.

“Umm, no. There is no relationship, but a causal sexual relationship. We talked about it and he agrees. He said that since he’s doing me the favor of being my partner for these damn ballroom dancing lessons you signed me up for, the least I could do is just travel with him back home. It’s only for three days, so clear my schedule for Monday and Tuesday.”

“Oh, okay then. I’ll get right on it as soon as we get to the office.”

“Thank you, friend.” I smiled.

She rolled her eyes and mumbled under her breath, “No relationship, my ass.”

We were repairing some of the drywall that got damaged when I told Paolo about my ballroom dancing lessons.

“Dude, are you seeing her or something? Why would you agree to that?”

“We’re friends and friends do things for each other. She’s going home with me for my birthday. Oh, which reminds me; she’s having a birthday party at Lure on Friday night, so I want you to come and tell all the guys.”

“Wait. I’m confused, man. She’s giving you a birthday party?”

“No.” I laughed. “I guess I didn’t tell you that her birthday is the same day as mine.”

“Ah, I see. Okay, we’ll all be there. So the two of you aren’t dating?”

“No. We’re friends.”

I didn’t want to tell Paolo about last night. It wasn’t something I liked to talk about with the guys. I was more of a private person and it was my and Sierra’s business, even though I’m sure Kirsty told the world. Paolo left to go check on another job for me and I sent a text message to Sierra. I was really missing her bad.

“Hey, beautiful. Do you have time on your lunch to go to the store and pick out your fixtures for your bathroom?”

“Hey. Shit. I forgot about that. Yes. I have time. Will you come with me?”

“I already planned on it. I’ll pick you up at your office.”

“Thank you. See you soon.”

As I walked through the kitchen to go to the guest house, Rosa stopped me.

“Excuse me, Mr. Cole.”

“Yes, Rosa.”

“I like you and I know you have feelings for Sierra. Don’t hurt her. Okay? That poor girl has been through enough with her ex and her mother. It got worse after her father passed. They were very close.”

“Do you know what happened with that ex of hers?”

“He left and never came back. He broke her and her self-esteem. He told her that she was lousy in bed and that there were hotter girls in the world. He also told her that there was no way she would survive in the corporate world and to give it up. Then he told her that she wasn’t good enough for him and that he could do better and he had with the whore he met over the internet. Seven years with that bastard and he says all that to her. She needs to be brought back to life. Sierra doesn’t know happiness anymore. But I think you may be the one to help her. Don’t let her and her stubborn, stuck-up ways fool you. She’s built up a wall so high and so tough that it’s going to take a miracle to knock them down. I think you’re that miracle,” she said as she placed her hand on my cheek.

“Thanks, Rosa. We’ll see what happens.” I smiled.

I washed up, changed out of my dirty work clothes, and headed to Sierra’s office. When I pulled up to the curb, she was just walking out of the building.

“Hey, stranger.” She smiled.

“Hey, beautiful. Are you ready to pick out some tubs and toilets?”

“I guess.” She laughed. “Don’t forget about our first dance lesson tonight. The class starts at six o’clock, so James will be by to pick us up around five-thirty. I brought my stuff with me, so we can just go back to my house after we shop.”

“What am I supposed to wear to this class?”

She looked at me and twisted her face. “Shit. I don’t know. I better call Kirsty and ask her.”

She dialed Kirsty and, after a few expletive words, she hung up and looked at me. “Well, I guess we need to stop at the dance store and pick up some shoes.”

“Shoes? What kind of shoes?”

“Dance shoes. I’m swear I’m firing her.”

I put my hand on her knee and told her to relax. “Do you know where the nearest dance store is?” I asked.

She called her secretary, Sasha, and told her to find one. Sasha texted her the address and it ended up being about five miles from where we were.

“I guess we’re going to get some dance shoes,” I said as I raised one eyebrow.
