Cocky Captain by Kelly Moore (2)

Chapter 2

Roxy,” he says, rolling my name on his tongue.

Damn, why didn’t I pick another name? It sounds so sexy when he says it. I decide to not be friendly. I lean back in my chair and put my earphones in, hoping he will get the hint. I see his lips moving and smiling, but I can’t hear him. His bottom lip is ripe and tasty looking. I’d like to bite down on it. His chin is chiseled with a five o’clock shadow on it. I wonder how that scruff would feel between my legs? My eyes move down his body. His thick, muscular arm is on the armrest mere inches from me. I could reach out and touch him to see what he feels like. My mouth waters thinking about what he might feel like, his hardness in contrast to my softness.

Stop it, I admonish myself. Closing my eyes, I turn my head toward the closed window. I’m flying to Germany to spend some time with Luke, to get to know him better. There is a Ninja Warrior-type competition going on at their base, and I wanted to support him. It’s all he’s talked about for the past month. The winner gets a month leave. He said if he wins, he wants to spend all his time with me.

I feel the jolt of the airplane taking off, and I grab the armrest, closing my eyes tighter. Once we are in the air and leveled out, I relax. I open my eyes when I feel a finger tapping on my arm. Opening my eyes, I see Mr. I Want To Bite Your Fucking Lip smiling at me. He reaches and tugs on my earphones, causing one of them to fall out.

“You have a death grip on that armrest.” He places his hand over mine.

Tiny electrical impulses radiate up my arm, and I jerk my hand away. He laughs and kicks his seat back so that his head is now even with mine. We are so close I can see the tiny flecks of black in his gray eyes. Why do even his eyes have to be sexy?

“You don’t like to fly?”

“I don’t mind flying. It’s the takeoff and landing that get to me.” Why does my voice sound so breathy? I clear my throat.

“Are you visiting someone in Germany?” he asks nonchalantly as he leans forward, grabbing a magazine out of the seat in front of him.

“I’m visiting my boyfriend on the military base. You might even know him?” I point at his clothes.

“I don’t know. There are thousands of men and women stationed there.” He flips through pages. “What’s his name?”

“Luke Wilder.”

He stops turning the pages and looks at me. “The name doesn’t ring a bell.” A little crease forms in his forehead as he says it.

“Would you like something to drink?” the flight attendant interrupts.

“I’ll have a Coke with a lime. You want anything?” he asks me.

“Just a bottle of water, thank you.”

She reaches across Decklan and hands me the water. I watch him as his eyes dip to her cleavage. She notices and bats her eyes at him. I let out a little giggle. I’m not the only woman he has that effect on.

“What?” he asks as she hands him his drink.

I wait until she has moved to the next row of seats. “I bet you have women all over the world.”

He sips his Coke. “What makes you say that?”

“You’re a good-looking guy in a uniform. Woman love that sort of thing.” I put the bottle of water to my mouth.

He leans closer to me. “I’d prefer hot sexy beast in a uniform.”

My water spews on the seat in front of me and down my white blouse. I can’t help but picture the cover of the book Grace downloaded on my Kindle.

He grabs a napkin off the cart in the aisle. “Was it something I said?” He laughs.

“Are you always this cocky?” I snatch it from him.

“That’s what my men call me, their ‘cocky captain.’ He uses finger quotes.

“Well, I’m sure the name fits,” I say, dabbing the water off my blouse.

“So, this boyfriend of yours. What’s his name?” his finger goes to his chin. “Oh, yeah, Luke.” He spits out the K. Have you actually met him or is he someone you dreamt up in your fantasies?” His eyes pierce through me again.

“What is wrong with you? Why would I make him up?” I squirm in my chair thinking about his statement. Is Luke someone I would fantasize about? He’s cute in an all-American boy sort of way, but fantasize? Now, Captain Cocky here, I could think up a few things I’d like to do to him. My tongue whips out to moisten my lips, and his eyes light up. He throws his head back, laughing. Did I say that out loud? I swear that cocky grin says he knows exactly what I was thinking.

“I think you need to sit there and not ask me any more questions.” I cross my arms over my chest, causing the tops of my breasts to jut out. I pull my blouse tight around me when I catch him admiring them.

“As you wish, but it’s a long flight, and I’m getting a laugh out of watching you squirm.” He rests his hands behind his head and closes his eyes.

It gives me a minute to really study him. He’s mouthwateringly gorgeous. The problem is he knows it. Even though his fatigues are loose fitting, his thigh muscles bulge in his pant legs. Speaking of bulging…I’d like to see what’s under his fly. Jesus, what is wrong with me? I’m on a plane headed across the Atlantic Ocean to spend time with the man I…I love? Mmm…not sure those are the right words. I rub my temples. The man I want to get to know better. Yes, that’s it. It sounds so boring.

I put my earphone back in and ignore the beast…I mean man next to me. I roll my shoulders a few times to relax. I take in a couple deep breaths and focus on the man I’m going to see. I can envision his hot, sweaty, lean body working out, getting ready for the competition. When he sees me, he runs up and takes me in his arms, kissing me. His hand skates over my breast. Hmm…no hardening of the nipples or electrical sensations. Let’s try this again. I close my eyes tight. I walk into his room, and he scoops me into his arms while our tongues collide. He walks me over to his bed and stands me on my feet. He slowly and gently undresses me. This isn’t working either.

I peek one eye open and glance at Decklan, who appears to be sleeping. Let me try this. I scoot further back in my seat and raise my feet up, sinking into my chair. Decklan is in his office, writing something on a white board. I clear my throat. He turns to see me, and this animalistic look covers his face. He stalks toward me like he wants to devour his prey. My body starts to tremble out of need. One of his hands goes behind my head, pulling me to him as his mouth crashes on mine. He turns us and walks me backward all while our tongues are exploring each other. His hand reaches out and rakes everything off his desk. He lays me down and steps between my legs. His hand pushes my panties out of the way and…I gasp, covering my mouth with my hand as my feet fly down. My nipples are hard, and I have a deep ache between my legs.

“Is there a problem?” He looks over at me.

“No, why?” I try to act normal even though I know the flushing of my skin must be obvious.

“You were making these little noises that sounded erotic.” His smile is wild and wicked.

“Nothing spending a little more time with my boyfriend won’t fix,” I mumble.

He sits his chair upright and turns his body toward me. “You’re a young, gorgeous woman, flying halfway across the world to see your boyfriend in the army. How sure are you that you are his only girlfriend?”

“Luke isn’t like that. He’s a nice guy.”

“I hate to tell you, all guys are horny and being in the military can be lonely sometimes when your girlfriend is a million miles away.”

“What makes you think the girlfriends don’t get lonely too?” I square my shoulders at him.

He plops back in his chair. “I don’t think you’re that kind of girl.” He grins.

“How do you know what kind of girl I am?” I nudge his shoulder.

“I can tell you’re sweet and innocent.”

“Oh, is that what you think! You saw the condoms!” I say a little too loudly, and the man in the row across from us looks at me.

Decklan bursts out laughing. “Okay, Miss I’m All Into Having Sex With Glow In The Dark Condoms, tell me a little bit about yourself.”

My hand plays with the collar of my blouse. “I’m a nurse practitioner. I graduated last year, and I have a job that I love.”

“Sounds truly boring.” He lowers his voice. “Unless you’re going to tell me you wear one of those hot sexy nurse uniforms.”

My turn to laugh. “Nobody wears those.”

His eyes darken and dip to my cleavage. “In my world they do.” His voice is soft and husky, and I’m suddenly wet.

“Well, your blow-up dolls don’t count.” I don’t want him to see how turned on I am.

A huge smile spreads across his face as he gut-laughs, leaning forward, holding his stomach. He finally quits his fit of laughter. “I like you. You’re smart, funny, beautiful, and sassy.” He unbuckles and gets out of his chair. I watch his fine ass as he disappears down the aisle.

Now would be a good time for me to watch a movie I downloaded on my Kindle. It lights up, and I see the cover again. This time, I can’t help but smile. I tuck the earphones back in my ear, and I press play to watch An Officer and A Gentleman. I love Richard Gere in this movie.

Thirty minutes into it, Captain Cocky still isn’t back in his seat. He’s probably ordaining one of the attendants into the mile-high club. I wish I was brave enough to join him. My eyes grow heavy. I blink a few times to try to focus, but the lull of the plane makes it difficult.
