His Lawyer Purely Angel: A Billionaire and Virgin Romance by Claire Angel (6)

Eva

“What was that?” I covered my lips with both of my hands as I remembered the touch of his lips against mine. I don’t know what came over me. First, I felt this feeling that consumed every part of me then next I found myself closing the gap between Eric and I.

I can’t believe, I’ve fallen for a womanizer’s trap. This is dangerous territory for me. If I kept falling for his traps then this heartburn of mine will only get worse. I have to find a way to get him away from me. Asher is a freaking CEO why can’t he send somebody to retrieve Eric or send a key faster. I think they’re doing this on purpose. Angel has always been trying to get me to think better of rich high-class people ever since she got engaged to Mr. Maxwell.

I was on the floor with my back against the door and my knees curled in front of me. As if hugging my knees would calm this crazy heart of mine. Suddenly a soft knock sounded from behind me and my whole body tensed as if it just went cold.

“Evangeline?” he called out from behind the door. I could hear my heart beating crazily in this chest of mine just by the sound of his voice calling my name.

“Angel just sent the spare key and I got it,” he said but I didn’t had the strength to reply. My mouth felt dry.

“I’m going to let myself out. Thank you for your hospitality,” he said.

I heard his footsteps leaving my door then I heard the shutting noise of the front door. Once the front door was closed I was able to breathe it was like I was holding my breath. Unexpectedly, I felt an emptiness in my house. My heart clenched painfully.

I need medicine for this heartburn.

It’s been a week now since Eric had spent the night at my house. From our video chatting and calling, it has turned into text messages and emails. Eric tried calling but I always sent him to voicemail, and my excuses were that I have a client over or I am working on a very serious case but the truth is that I am a coward to face him and talk to him.

Asher and Angel are back now and the day to represent Eric’s case is growing near. To say I am nervous about the case would be a huge lie, I am more nervous facing Eric than the board of his company and their lawyer. Being alone for one week has given me time to figure out who is framing Eric.

I asked Angels for help as she had been Eric’s Secretary for a long time. Angel is shocked at my sudden dedication to Eric’s case. She told me that she always had a doubt on Eric’s Uncle, who is the head of the board of directors. Somehow, we managed to get some evidences against Eric’s uncle with the help of some staff members and not to forget Asher….

I was having my lunch on dining table which close to my window as I love to glance out my window to look at my beautiful flowers in my garden but what I didn’t expect was Eric standing right outside my gate staring at my house. My heart started racing at the sight of him making me clutch my chest.

Oh no... Why he has come here? Jesus, I can’t face him.

I hesitantly went to my front door and stepped out to see why Eric has suddenly arrived. His eyes snapped towards me then he unexpectedly showed me a wide smile which made him look more handsome.

“Nice to see you Evangeline. What a coincidence seeing you here,” he said with a laugh as he scratched the back of his head. Does he even realize that he’s at my house?

“What are you doing here Mr. Anderson? I’m busy.” Lie. I just started walking around my house trying to find something to do to keep him off my mind. “I was nearby so decided to visit your house. I was about to knock on your door but you found me first,” he replied.

“In that case, see you on the day of your case Mr. Anderson. I’m quite busy so I apologize if I can’t entertain you,” I said, and before he could reply I already had shut the door.

Two hours passed since then and I continued to read his case over and over just so I won’t miss anything. I went to my small balcony right outside my bedroom with a cup of tea and the papers of Eric’s case.

As I glanced down from my balcony to stare at my garden, once again I gotta shock kind of. What did I saw? Eric. This made me literally spit out my tea. He was sitting in my garden staring above at me. Has he been here for more than two hours? A frown made its way onto my face as I shouted out “What the hell are you still doing here?” You can see that I’ve finally lost my cool.

His head snapped up towards me and instantly smiled at the sight of me. I couldn’t help but burn up.

“Hey Evangeline!” he said casually.

“Don’t hey me! What are you doing outside of my house?” I asked him as I put aside my cup of tea and papers. It was a mistake to put down the papers because before Eric could say something the wind blew the papers away. I wasn’t able to catch them but Eric managed to chase after all of them. “I got them!” he called out.

He then made his way towards my front door. I went downstairs to open the door but as soon as I opened the door I froze seeing Eric reading the papers with a look of shock on his face. His teasing smile was long gone from his face so is the glint in his eyes back when he was looking at me. Eric standing in front of me looked completely distraught.

“This is the man that framed me?” his voice shook with anger. His eyes screamed fury as they stared at me not wanting to believe what he read.

We had decided to tell him after getting full evidences. One last report was pending which I received on my mail not more than half an hour ago, so I wasn’t prepared for this. He then grabbed my shoulders and gently shook me and asked “Please tell me that this is only a theory!” His voice was filled with boiling anger.

I opened the door wider and said “Please come in… Eric.” His shoulders slumped as he let out a frustrating sigh. He slowly trudged his way into my home. My heart clenched at how he looks. I hated that he felt this way.

He sat down on couch watching at papers and asked “Why didn’t you tell me earlier? And how did you manage to collect these evidence?”

He looked so angry and hurt at the same time. I really don’t know how to explain it to him as I do not want him to grow angrier and to increase his pain. I wanted nothing more than to cheer him up so he can go back to teasing me and sending me those winks of his.

Maybe if I kissed him he would go back to normal but I didn’t have the guts to initiate the kiss. I wanted to hold his hands and hug him.  I spent all week avoiding the man, now I wanted nothing more than to be in his arms and make sure a smile is always present on that face of his. What is happening to me. I have seen so many such cases but I never had such feelings.

Now I wondered if he hated me for telling him that the man who framed him was none other than his Uncle.
