One Final Chance: a friends to lovers, stand-alone novel by LK Collins (14)

Fallon

Looking at my reflection in the mirror, I don’t think I’ve ever worn a more beautiful dress. We finally found some time to go shopping earlier today, and Parks picked out the most gorgeous long and light blue number. The color reminds me of his eyes and the color they turn when he’s inside me.

Sex with him is unreal. The intensity that we share is wild, and his cock . . . oh my God, his fucking cock is huge and the way he works it will surely be the death of me.

I shake my head, clearing the dirty thoughts. But that’s what he does to me, and I’m so happy for his overdue confession.

Taking in a deep relaxing breath, I try to get used to the new reality that there is so much more between me and Parks is crazy.

So I remind myself to let go of my past. Particularly tonight, with Parks being recognized. There will be no thoughts of Leo or losing my job or the baby growing inside me. Instead, I’ll think only about me and Parks, our newfound relationship, and the huge accomplishments he’s achieved. Plus, I want to show him how much he means to me and how extremely appreciative I am for everything he’s done.

He is truly my rock. Without Parks, I don’t know where I’d be. Thinking about not having him churns my stomach, and I don’t like it. I don’t want to imagine life without him—ever, and now that I know the truth, I have a small amount of hope inside me that I didn’t have before.

He comes out of the bathroom, and the second my eyes land on him in a sleek black tux, which clings to his every muscle perfectly, my mouth goes dry, and butterflies go crazy in my stomach.

“You look gorgeous,” he tells me and comes in close, standing right in front of me.

“You, too,” I stammer, finding myself honing in on his lips, remembering all the wicked things he can do with that mouth. Slowly he licks them and asks, “Could you help me with this?” And hands me his bowtie.

“Sure.” I tuck it beneath the collar of his shirt and work the small strip of fabric into the knot my father taught me years ago.

His phone buzzes, and he pulls it out to check the message. “The limo is here.”

“Then let's go.”

He gives me a small kiss before interlocking our fingers as we head outside. The driver is indeed waiting for us.

“Thank you,” I tell him as he opens the rear door.

“Yes, ma’am.”

We both get situated in the back of the car, and I’m not really sure what to do. The tension between us is thick. Just like every single second has been since our confession of love. Parks tickles my arm with his skilled fingers reminding me of sex with Parks. He is unreal, everything about being with him is perfect. My only regret is I didn’t confess to him sooner. Even if he really had a girlfriend, I should’ve been honest a long, long time ago, as he should have.

“Are you okay with everything?” he asks me.

I nod and tell him, “I am. Finally knowing the truth makes me very happy.”

“I’m sorry, again.”

“Don’t be. You have no idea how extremely happy I am.”

“And so am I, but I’m still so sorry I lied, Fallon.”

“Don’t be; I get it.”

He leans in and pecks his lips against mine, all the blood rushing between my legs. My hand instinctively grips onto the back of his head, holding him closely and making the kiss last.

“I want you,” he whispers. Those three little words turn me on, and he groans, kissing me harder.

* * *

I’m clapping louder than the rest of the people around me—even his mom and dad—as Parks accepts his award, but I don’t care. I don’t think I could be more proud of him. His aptitude for photography is hands down unlike anything I’ve ever seen. The pictures he’s being recognized for, which are also going to be featured in next month’s issue of National Geographic, are from the peak of Mt. Rainer in Washington.

His mom and dad both have tears in their eyes. Parks comes back over to us with a huge grin on his face, and I can’t help myself from embracing him tightly. He holds me back, and as we pull away, he drops a kiss to my lips before turning to his parents.

I blush, not sure what to do. I didn’t really expect them to be here, all though I should’ve.

“Are you sure you don’t want a glass of champagne?” his mom Barbara asks me.

“Oh, yeah, I’m good. Thanks.”

“So are you two dating?” Frank asks, and Parks gives him a crooked glance.

“We are,” I tell them, knowing we both love each other so that really only means one thing.

Parks slides his hand behind my lower back the same way he’s been holding on to me all night, and I don’t think I could want him more than I do in this moment.

“How long?” Frank asks, and Barbara scolds him. “Give them some time; I’m sure it’s new.”

He shrugs, and a photographer comes over, asking, “Can I get a picture?” We all huddle together, and Parks holds his award while we smile as flash after flash bombards us.

“Thank you,” the man says before walking off.

“Do your parents know?” Frank asks me.

“No, not yet.”

“I can’t wait to tell them we were the first to find out,” Barbara says.

“Well, it literally just happened.”

“And it’s about time,” Franks adds, and we all laugh not just because of his outburst but because he is a little drunk, too. “I’m going to the bar,” he grumbles, and Barbara follows after him.

“I love your dad’s bluntness.”

“He’s known for years that I love you.”

“You talked like that about me?” I turn to him and wrap my arms around his waist so I can look up at him.

“Fallon, I’ve done so many things surrounding you, you’d think something was wrong with me.”

“Like what?” I ask, inquisitively.

He leans down and whispers into my ear, “Like the other day when you needed toothpaste, I was jerking off imagining you.”

“You were?” My insides warm by his confession.

“Did you do that a lot?”

He nods, pulling me even closer so I can feel how hard his cock is against his dress pants. “Now, I’m trying to wait ’til later to be with you, but my dick has been hard all night finally being able to touch and kiss you.” I love his openness almost as much as I love the control I have over him.

“Can I suck you, like I did this morning?” I ask quietly. His forehead creases and he shakes his head before sliding out of my hold and taking a seat at our table.

“Please don’t.”

“What?” I slip into my seat next to him and scoot a bit closer.

“Don’t talk like that.”

“Why?”

“Because my control is paper thin.”

Under the table, I slide my hand up his thigh and cup his shaft through his pants. I swear I can feel his sharp intake of breath in my core.

“Are you trying to kill me?”

I shake my head, and he looks down at me through his hooded lids and then grumbles. “Do you want to get fucked right here on this table for everyone to see?”

I swallow, not entirely opposed to the idea. The thought of others seeing us turns me on, but then I’m reminded his parents are here, so I let go of his shaft.

“Don’t touch me for the rest of the night,” he says, and I giggle.
