Chapter 11

“She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes.”

—Billy Joel

Matt Stallworth

When she walked into the room time stood still for a second that lasted an eternity. It was a perfect ruse to get Kelsey on a perfect date. Every head in the room turned in her direction. Her dress was knee-length and black. It hugged her tight at the waist, and the top was cut in a deep vee, low enough to show just the right amount of cleavage.

My cock sprang to life against my slacks when I watched her look over in my direction, but she didn’t see me. Standing at the table was going to be a difficult task with the dick situation, so I remained seated. She craned her neck and looked around the restaurant. Her hair was curled and framed her face perfectly.

I’d taken a flight home early and missed the game. Aiden was totally cool about it even though I felt bad. My mind wasn’t in Green Bay, though, and I’d promised him I’d be back as soon as possible.

Kelsey’s eyes roamed past me and then shot back and locked on to mine. The corners of her mouth curled up into a huge smile and she started toward me.

Fuck everyone else in this place and my cock situation.

I may have run through the dining room while people stared at us. I couldn’t be certain. All I knew was that I needed to kiss her to survive. Our lips met and my world was right again. Everything felt right with her, whether we kissed in a romantic restaurant in fancy clothes, or in front of her apartment in jeans and T-shirts.

Our tongues swirled, and she tasted like some kind of berry lip gloss. Finally, I pulled her back and just stared at her face, then dropped a light kiss on her forehead.

“I don’t—just, how?” Kelsey was a stuttering mess.

“Surprised?”

I held out my arm and she hooked hers through so I could escort her to our table.

Kelsey couldn’t stop grinning and her cheeks were bright pink. “Yes.”

I pulled out her chair and she took a seat. The waiter started in our direction and I held out a finger to let him know to give us a few minutes. I sat down next to her and smiled.

“I came back early.”

Kelsey smiled. “But—why?”

“I couldn’t go another minute without seeing you.”

She grinned and fiddled with her hands on the table next to her plate. She looked back over at me and then looked away. “Stop.”

I laughed. “Stop what?”

“Looking at me, in this ridiculous dress. You’re embarrassing me.”

I reached over and turned her by the chin so that she had no choice but to stare right at me. “You look amazing.” I paused. “I mean, you always look amazing, but just—wow.”

I knew Kelsey always acted like she wasn’t the type for romantic gestures, but deep down I thought most women appreciated them once in a while, no matter what they said.

“Well, thank you.” She sort of halfway laughed and scoffed.

“What is it?”

“This is all just unexpected.”

“Well, I may have talked to Jenny and she said how much you love this place. And I love this place. It seemed like a golden opportunity to get to see you in a dress and eat some awesome food. It was kind of a no-brainer.”

“It was a shrewd move, Stallworth. Points awarded.”

The way she said my name was twice as cruel on my dick in person as it was on the phone. I wasn’t sure what I’d do if I had to stand up again because it was hard as a fucking rock. Kelsey was still blushing. “Thank you. I was quite proud of it myself.”

She turned back to me but kept her eyes covered. “Why are you hiding?” I laughed.

“Because I just thought about what I did the last time I talked to you on the phone.”

I glanced around and nobody was paying any attention, but Kelsey couldn’t see that.

“You mean when you bent over and got yourself off in the closet at work?”

“Oh my God.” She socked me in the shoulder, but in the process uncovered her eyes and noticed that nobody had heard me.

“Ow.” I made a show of rubbing my arm where she’d hit me.

We both grinned and her face was a whole new shade of brighter pink.

“I can’t believe you talked me into that.”

“Oh!” I widened my eyes. “I talked you into that?”

“Yes. And I’m always right, Stallworth. You need to know that if you want to date—” She stopped herself.

I reached over and covered her hand with mine. Her thumb raked back and forth across the top of my hand like we’d been doing it forever.

“It’s okay to say it. I’d consider us dating, wouldn’t you?”

She smiled and nodded.

“More than dating, really.” I brushed my thumb over her knuckles.

The waiter showed up at the table right in the middle of our little moment.

Bastard.

“So, you two will be sampling for the Mason wedding?”

“Yep,” I said.

“Oh, we’re actually doing that?” Kelsey looked over at me.

“Yeah, I figured why not. They have enough going on and we get to spend Ethan’s money this way.”

“I’ll be right back with some wines and then the choices for appetizers.”

I nodded to the waiter and turned back to Kelsey.

“So, cheeseburgers and then you get your friend to foot the bill? I don’t know how long you’ll be able to afford me, Stallworth. I’m not a cheap date.”

“Oh yes, you are—with food.”

She grinned.

“There’s nothing else cheap about you, though.”

“You are just full of”—she paused for dramatic effect—“good lines.”

I straightened up in my chair. “Why, thank you.”

The waiter returned with some kind of fancy small glasses full of different wines. My eyes glazed over as he recited different locations and wine-making methods. All I could do was stare at Kelsey while she listened intently to every word he said.

I came up with a trick where I’d just nod anytime she nodded and played along. I wasn’t interested in wine or food, just the gorgeous woman sitting next to me.

My shenanigans worked for a bit until the waiter left and Kelsey took a drink and asked what I thought.

“Umm, yeah, I like it. What you said about it was spot on.”

She laughed. “Can you taste the shiraz and how it’s infused?”

“Sure can.”

She chuckled harder.

I stared back. “What?”

“That is not a shiraz, Stallworth. Busted.”

I set the glass down and looked away. “Oh.”

She grabbed me by the forearm. “It’s okay. It was a joke.”

I breathed a sigh of relief. “Not gonna lie. I don’t even know what the hell you guys have been talking about for like the last fifteen minutes.”

Kelsey laughed.

“Keep it up. Keep laughing, Martin.”

“Oh.” She looked around to make sure nobody was listening. “Are you gonna spank me?” She waggled her eyebrows.

My cock stood back up at attention and I adjusted in my seat. Kelsey’s grin turned devilish, and I wasn’t one to be bested in that department. I leaned over and whispered into her ear, “I might.” I ran my hand over the straps on the back of her dress and up to the nape of her neck, then lightly squeezed around it. “While I shove your face down in the bed and fuck you from behind.” I made sure to linger and exhale right into her ear.

Her eyes closed and she mumbled, “Holy shit.”

“Oh look, the food is here.” I leaned back.

Kelsey shot me a glare. “You play dirty.”

“You’re gonna see dirty.” I chuckled before the waiter walked up with a tray full of plates.

He did his thing, explaining all of them in a vast amount of detail. I smiled and nodded, the whole time thinking about how wet Kelsey was under the thin layer of fabric that was her dress. Every animalistic urge in my body wanted to carry her to the nearest closet or bathroom and rip that fucking dress right off her body. The anticipation and the waiting was half of the fun, though, the excitement of it all.

“Make sure to save room for desserts.” The waiter looked back and forth between us.

I turned to Kelsey and moved my gaze from head to toe. “I know what I’m having for dessert.”

Kelsey squirmed in her seat. “Thank you,” she squeaked out at the waiter.

That’s right, Kelsey.

I glanced back over and she had a hand on her thigh, shooting me a middle finger.

“That’s exactly what’s going to happen.”

She shook her head. “Is that all you think about?”

I smirked and gave her a side eye. “Of course not.”

“I don’t know how.” She shook her head. “I’m having to fight the urge to crawl under the table and suck your dick.” She winked.

My collar tightened around my neck somehow and I had to adjust it with a finger.

We both stared at all the food on the table. I looked at her and she looked at me, and it was like we both knew what we had to do. I held out a fist.

Kelsey bumped it with hers.

We both went to town on every piece of food on the table. I held a thumb up every time I liked something and Kelsey scribbled notes on some pad of paper that she’d been writing things down on.

The waiter walked back over within ten minutes of dropping off the food, only to find stacks of saucers on the end of the table and both of us sitting there. His mouth dropped open.

I looked at Kelsey and back at him. “Fuck it. We’ll be back to taste cakes later.”

I reached over and grabbed Kelsey by the hand.

“Oh!” She almost tripped when I pulled her up out of her seat, but she kept her footing and we both took off as fast as possible without running.

I gripped her hand tight but glanced back to check and make sure I wasn’t pulling her too fast. She smiled and her hair and breasts bounced with each step, perfectly. I thought my cock might explode before I had a chance to get inside her.

Someone stepped in front of me and I instinctively turned around to stop Kelsey. She ran into me and I wrapped my arms around her. “Sorry.” Fuck, she smelled amazing, like some kind of flowery bath wash. I didn’t want to let her out of my arms.

The guy moved out of our way and we rushed hand in hand through the lobby and out the front door. Nobody was around and I pulled her out of the way and pinned her up against the wall of the building.

She started to speak and I kissed the words right out of her. My hands slid down and my fingers dug into her hips as our lips smashed together, close to a week’s worth of sexual tension channeled into one kiss.

I pulled away from her and she stood there in a daze with a sheepish grin on her face.

I stared at her lush curves in her black dress and then moved my stare back up to her eyes. “God, I want you so fucking bad right now.”

She couldn’t do anything but nod.

I pulled her toward the parking lot.

“Wait, my car?”

“I’ll bring you back to get it.”

I ran around to open the door for her but nobody was around. I backed her up against the car and kissed her again, this time running my hands down to her ass. I kneaded her firm-yet-soft ass with my fingers—hard and rough. She moaned against my lips and her hand stroked up and down the length of my cock over the top of my slacks. I slid my hands up over her breasts, teasing her nipples for a second, before snaking both hands into her hair and pulling her lips harder against mine.

I kissed down her neck and up to her ear. Our hands were all over each other, reckless and needy. Finally, I pulled away. Both of us panted and I opened the door for her.

“We have to get to my place before I yank up your skirt and fuck you in this parking lot.”

Kelsey nodded and adjusted her dress before climbing inside the car.

I sprinted around the hood after shutting her door and leaped into the driver’s seat. I glanced over, and her chest rose and fell with each deep, heavy breath.

“You had better speed before I end up giving you head in the car.”

I floored it.
