Catching Fire: New Rules (Billionaire Romance Series Book 2) by T.N King (2)

Ellie had to work at the diner today. She was still weak from her and Morgan’s shower escapades, but it was a good feeling to be tired after such wonderful sex. She figured breakfast would be a sure cure.

Morgan, being the wonderful boyfriend that he was, volunteered to make her breakfast before leaving for work and while she got dressed. He was a prince, like that.

Since the fire at the diner a few months back, Joanna had decided, since she was remodeling anyway, to add a Starbucks style coffee bar. It was trending at all the local Philadelphia restaurants and diners and she didn’t want to get left behind.

This was great news for Ellie because, being the senior ranking employee at the Liberty Bell Diner, she was the first one Joanna asked to be the diner’s new barista. This promotion came with a raise. Ellie had been delighted to accept. The job also came with a cute new uniform.

As she checked herself out in the mirror, she couldn’t wait to show it to Morgan. He loved seeing her in revealing clothes. This was sure to turn him on, even after all the sex they’d just had.

When she stepped out from her bedroom, the smell of eggs, turkey bacon, toast, and coffee hit her. “Mmm,” she moaned as she grabbed a seat at her contemporary kitchen counter.

Morgan had his back to her to tend to the eggs and bacon. “I’ll have a plate for you in just a sec. But feel free to grab yourself a cup of coffee.”

“Oh, I think I’ll get plenty of coffee at work today,” Ellie replied.

“What?” Morgan turned around.

“Tada!” Ellie said and extended her arms out to show off her new uniform top. “I’m the new barista at Liberty Bell.”

Morgan took a moment to digest the news. “Barista?”

“Yeah. Joanna decided to install a coffee bar since the diner was getting an overhaul anyway and I got promoted. What do you think?”

Ellie hopped off the bar stool and went around the counter to give Morgan an eyeful.

Morgan took her in from head to toe. Ellie’s hair was pulled up into a high, flirty, ponytail that accentuated her long, slender neck. Her tight fitting top dipped down low at the cleavage and could go even lower if she pulled the zipper down. It was black with a red stripe down one side which only brought attention to her bosom, and her black shorts were very short, exposing her firm thighs nearly all the way up to her ass and her long, slender legs all the way down to the cute little ballet slipper style shoes she wore.

She was definitely hot—maybe too hot to be going out like this without him around to protect her from degenerates.

He placed his hands on his hips and said, “You look great, babe, but are you sure you want to be going to work like that?” He offered a little chuckle at the end to soften his comment.

“Like what?” Ellie asked and glanced down at her getup.

He gestured to her outfit with one hand. “You look great. You really do. It’s definitely turning me on.” He drew closer and pulled her in. “It might do the same to other guys, and I won’t be around to keep an eye on you.” He placed a soft kiss on her cheek.

Ellie pushed back and said, “Are you suggesting that I'll flirt at work when you’re not around?”

“No!” he quickly corrected and realized that he was treading rough waters. “It’s not anything that you might do, it’s other guys that I don’t trust.” He pulled her back in to his embrace and held her tight. “I don’t know what I’d do if I found out that something happened to you while I wasn’t around. It would drive me crazy.”

“What do you think could happen?” she asked and gazed up at him with defiance.

Morgan knew he needed to be careful here, what women being so independent, but he couldn’t help feeling like her outfit was somewhat—provocative. He had to be honest with her and offer his thoughts on the matter as a guy. “You work late sometimes,” he started. “What if some creep that you turned on, waits for you by your car and grabs you? What if he rapes you, Ellie?”

Ellie held his serious gaze for as long as she could before breaking out into laughter. “Morgan! You’re so cute to worry like that, but please. This isn’t the twentieth century. Guys don’t just get turned on by something that a woman wears. I think there’s more to it than that. Studies have shown that most rapes are committed by someone that the woman knew. I think I’ll be fine.”

He was sweet to worry, but his worries were unfounded as far as she was concerned. Women couldn’t just hide themselves behind oversized clothing all the time out of fear of being raped. That was just ridiculous. “Anyway,” she continued. “This is the uniform. If I want the promotion, I have to wear the uniform. That’s how it works, babe.”

Morgan looked down at her.

Ellie could see the doubt in his eyes as she waited for him to try something new to get her to not wear this outfit. Oh yes, she knew him well enough to know he could sell his point when he wanted to.

“Couldn’t you at least wear a sweater or something? It’s starting to get chilly out. Why don’t I get you a nice black parka to go with your hot, new uniform?”

Yes, there it was. Creative, she had to admit. Ellie laughed, again. “Morgan, I love that you worry about me, but please, don’t. I’ll be fine. You’ll be busy at work all day at that new company and I’ll hopefully, cash in on this new gig making awesome tips. We’ll celebrate later, okay?” She wrapped her arms around his neck and stood on her tiptoes to kiss him.

He growled and pressed her up against his rigid form.

She could feel the effects of her sexy barista uniform by the developing bulge in his pants.

“My erection begs to differ with your statement about women’s clothing not turning a man on,” he quipped. He pushed her back against the kitchen counter and scooped her up so that she sat on it with him in between her thighs.

Ellie wrapped her legs around him and leaned back on her hands so Morgan could help himself to her very exposed cleavage. While he explored between her breasts with is tongue, she pressed up against his erection and realized that she was very turned on, herself. “Do we have time for another round?”

“Yes,” Morgan said as he ran his tongue along the swell of her breast. “That sounds great.” Suddenly, he stopped and backed away.

“What’s that matter?”

“Crap!” He returned to the eggs on the hot stove. “I forgot about breakfast.” He scrambled to salvage them before they stuck to the pan.

Ellie giggled. “Wow! This uniform is some powerful stuff if it can make a man forget that he’s hungry.” She hopped off the counter and adjusted her disheveled uniform, then came up behind Morgan and wrapped her arms around him while he dealt with the eggs.

“Well, at least there’s bacon and toast,” he grumbled and scraped the eggs into the garbage disposal.

“That sounds fine.” Ellie popped a piece of bacon into her mouth, “But I really have to go, babe. Why don’t you come by the diner after you’re all done and we can have dinner together?”

Morgan popped the other half of Ellie’s bacon strip into his mouth. “Sounds like a date,” he said and smiled.

Ellie smiled back. “Great. But we’ll have to be back early. I have homework,” she added.

“And how is my little college student doing? All A’s?”

Ellie’s lips tightened. She couldn’t tell Morgan that she was having trouble in Chemistry class—not when she was going to the best university on the East Coast because of a scholarship that he got for her. “Great,” she lied and leaned her hip on the counter. “Chemistry is tough.”

“Chemistry, huh?”

“It’s not a big deal,” she added as she grabbed the keys to her brand new Mini Cooper off the key holder that hung right over the counter. It was the car that Morgan had bought for her and it was a nice day to drive to work because she feared she would be late if she walked. “I’m hoping to make up some points through extra credit. It’s just…”

“It’s just what?” Morgan asked after her long pause.

“My chemistry professor is—odd. Nothing too outrageous, I guess he’s just used to always being right and likes to call out people in class who clearly don’t have the right answer. He’s done it to me a few times. No big deal, though. I’m a big girl. I can take it.”

“I bet you can.” Morgan nodded and hooked an arm around her waist as she passed by him to get her chemistry book from the counter.

Ellie giggled, again. “If you don’t stop, neither one of us will make it anywhere but back to my bedroom,” she teased.

“That’s starting to sound like the best option,” he said and kissed her neck.

Her response was to let out a moan while leaning into him. She savored the feel of his warm, hard body against hers, but somehow she found the will to push him away. “I have to go, now. And so do you.”

He reached for her once more and successfully brought her back into his embrace. “You’re just so yummy this morning.”

That deserved a kiss. Afterwards, once again, she tried to depart. “I’ll be waiting for you after work,” she said before letting go of his hand.

“I’ll be there,” he said and combed a hand through his thick, dark hair.

Damn, he was sexy, she thought as she backed up to the door. She blew a kiss, which he caught in the air. With a final wave, she forced herself to open the door and leave.

Once on the other side of the door, she let out a sigh. She felt like the luckiest girl in the world to have a guy as sexy and romantic as Morgan—which was why she would do just about anything to make him happy.

She glanced at the huge chemistry text book she hugged close to her. She would not fail this class. Chemistry was tough for a girl who understood things like feelings and emotions better than she understood molecules and formulas, but she vowed right there that she would pass this chemistry class.
