Imperfect Love: Twisted (Kindle Worlds Novella) by Mandi Beck (16)

Chapter Sixteen

Jasper

I probably should have called first, but Fannin has been so busy this week and I wanted to surprise her. We’ve managed to see each other every night since the wedding, but there’s a private event at the Iron Flask tonight that I have to be there for. Now that the big day is behind us, I feel like we’re able to focus on more than getting through her step-sister’s wedding. The best thing to come out of that whole mess is Fannin and I. That and the bets we have going on how soon the happy couple will be divorced. Probably not in good taste, but it makes Fannin smile, and that’s all I care about.

Stepping off the elevator, I walk to where the receptionist downstairs told me to and come upon a waiting area.

“Hello. Jade, right? I’m Jasper, we’ve spoken on the phone a few times.”

Fannin’s secretary blushes a bit before nodding and stammering out, “Yes. Yes, of course. I remember.”

“Is she in?”

“Just got out of a meeting. Want me to buzz her?” She reaches for her phone.

“No. Can she take a lunch though? A quiet one?” I hold up the takeout in my hand.

“I’ll hold all her calls. Ms. McGuire doesn’t have another meeting for an hour.”

“Brilliant. Thank you, Jade.” I place the sack I brought for her and set in on her desk. “Hope you like curry.”

Crossing over to Fannin’s office I knock, not waiting for her to invite me in. She glances up from her desk, an annoyed frown on her face until she sees that it’s me.

“Hey you. I didn’t expect you.”

“Hey yourself. I’ve brought lunch.” Fannin smiles broadly. “Oh, good, I’m starving. I think I forgot breakfast.” She stands, clearing a place on her desk for us. She has on a navy dress with a deep vee in front and capped sleeves. The pencil skirt stopping just below her knees doesn’t make up for the sexy plunge of the bodice. Fannin McGuire is going to be the death of me.

“What did you bring? It smells amazing.” I place the bag on the space she’s made and walk around to stand in front of her. As naturally as if we’ve been doing this for years instead of weeks, she steps right into my arms, leaning into my embrace and waiting for the kiss she knows is coming.

“I brought you Thai,” I tell her before I cover her mouth with mine, loving when she becomes pliant with the touch.

Her hair is pulled back today and pinned, making my fingers itch to free it. Before I give in, I step back from her and help her back into her seat. Once she’s settled, I go back to the chair in front of her desk and begin pulling things out of the bag. “Jade said you just got out of a meeting. It went well, I hope?”

Fannin sighs, taking the plate I offer her. “It would have been better if Adam weren’t back from his honeymoon. Who takes such a short honeymoon? And I swear he has something up his sleeve because he was super polite but in a condescending way. You know?”

“Aye. Like a proper cunt.”

“Yeah. Like that.” She smiles, spooning rice into her mouth.

“Aren’t you eating?” Fannin asks, pointing at my untouched food.

“Aye.” Watching me, she waits for more of an explanation.

“You’re eating Thai. I’m eating you.” She chokes slightly on her chicken. I hand her a water bottle from the bag at my feet. “You okay, love?”

“Did you just say that you were eating me for lunch?”

“I’ve been thinking about it all day and knew I wouldn’t see you tonight. Figured now would be the perfect time to pay you back for the wedding.” I lean back in my chair, feet planted wide and hands resting on my thighs.

“I’m pretty sure you’ve paid me back for that. Repeatedly.”

“Have I, now?”

“You have.” Her lips twitch as she fights a smile. “You know my secretary is right out that door, don’t you?

“Aye. I brought her lunch too. Figured that would keep her busy. Plus, I told her to hold your calls.”

“So you’re the boss now?”

“I like to think I’m in charge. Especially when it comes to your fanny.”

“My fanny?”

Shit. Cat’s out of the bag now.

Rising from my seat, I circle to her side of the desk, the windows at my back as I twirl her around. Kneeling, I wordlessly push the tight skirt up her thighs to reveal a black garter belt holding up her stockings. “For fuck’s sake, love.” With the dress now settled around her waist I take in the garters and sheer black knickers. “I meant it when I said you should come with a warning label,” I murmur. With a finger, I pull aside the garment, baring her already glistening pussy. “Always so wet for me.” I place a kiss right above her opening. “Where I’m from,” another kiss, this time closer, “this is called a ‘fanny.’” And another kiss even closer still.

“So you’ve been calling me pussy?” Fannin asks a little breathlessly.

“Aye.” Before she can think about saying anything else I swipe my tongue through her slit, and roll it over the sensitive flesh, using my beard just how I’ve learned that she likes. Latching on to her clit, I pull it in my mouth and release it with a pop. “Am I forgiven?” I look up at her from between her thighs, reveling in the blissful look on her face.

“You won’t be if you stop doing that before I come.”

“Yes, ma’am,” I chuckle, putting my mouth back on her and feasting as if she were my last meal.

I think I just fell in love with Fannin McGuire and her forgiving pussy.

After having Fannin for lunch, I take a cab back to the Iron Flask to get ready for the event that Fannin helped Theo arrange. A private tasting where they invited all of the nearby hotels and restaurants. Her plan was to have them feature an Iron Thistle whisky in their establishments to go along with our feature whisky night in house. The thinking behind it is that it will draw more traffic here to find out what else we have to offer. It was quite brilliant. Fannin is quite brilliant.

Letting myself into the office, I pull out the book to go over the barrels we have here ready to be tapped. The moment I flip it open, Theo stalks into the room.

“We have a problem mate. Well, you have a problem.”

“What are you getting on about, Theo?”

“Got a call from Lorna just now, apparently someone called the main offices in Scotland to let them know that there is some shady business dealings going on here with the help and the lady in charge of all the marketing. Lorna wanted to know who I was sleeping with.”

“Who the fuck called them?” I’m seething. Whoever it was is clearly trying to get Fannin fired. “That motherfucker,” I spit out. Knowing exactly who.

“The ex is my guess. He’s pissed I had him pulled off the account so he’s going above my head. To your ex.”

“Did you tell Lorna it wasn’t you shagging Fannin?” Not that I care what Lorna thinks. I have zero feelings left for her if I ever did. I just don’t want any backlash on Fannin, and Lorna has some pull with the company. She’s been an office manager there for a few years and she’s not quiet about the fact that she wants me back.

He nods solemnly making me groan. “She caught me off-guard. She knows it’s you and she’s not happy about it. Expect a call from Scotland later. I’m sorry, Jasper.”

“And Fannin?”

“Lorna wants me to have her taken off the account.” He raises his hand when I go to speak. “I told her it wasn’t going to happen. She’s not in charge of things here . . . or there for that matter. Again, she’s not happy.”

“I couldn’t care less about Lorna. I’m more concerned with Fannin. This promotion is important to her, and she’s busted her ass on it.”

Theo nods in agreement. “It’s time, mate.”

“Fuck!” Throwing down the pen in my grip, I curse again, getting no relief from the outburst. “Fuck.” Pacing in a tight circle, I stop in front of Theo. “Make the call.” He knows what I need. He’ll handle it. For now, I’ll let him while I handle Lorna.
