Could he kiss her? The question was could he stop kissing her.
Never.
Black had to work to focus himself. Yes, he wanted to love on Kady, bring her pleasure, hear her call his name as she came. He also had to help her understand how to control her magic and the power she could wield with it.
She may be their only hope.
If he could help her contain her power, they could evade the enemy and she could learn to wield it against them strategically.

Something in her changed, calmed. Slowly the light turned into a silvery translucence and the furniture around them dissolved away.

The floor beneath them went next and it appeared as if they were flying over the road. The walls and the part of the vehicle where the gnomes drove were still visible. “More, mah wah, more.”

High above them in the sky two dots of shadowy light kept pace with each of their turns. Kady was in control, but her light, in this form, pure soul, attracted the spectrals like insects to a flame.
Two more appeared behind them, and still another two on either side. Had they been there all along and Kady’s light made them visible, or was she attracting more?
None of them attacked or even approached. They had learned the lesson that was the burn of Kady’s power.
“Mah wah, are you ready to explode again?”
She panted and smiled. “In more ways than one.”
“Then let it all go, blow those damn spectrals away and come for me.” Black pushed Kady over the edge, sliding just the tip of his finger inside her tight pucker.
She cried out, her body bucking against him. “Black, oh god, yes. Black.”
Kady grabbed onto his arms, tipped her chin and stared directly into his eyes, into his heart.
Black felt his own soul swept up with hers. Together, they pulsed, building, reaching, until finally together they exploded. They were everywhere and nowhere. They were one, and a million pieces.
The spectrals around them shrieked burning as they dissolved into the white purity of the magic he and Kady made together.
Kady cried out, in pleasure or in pain, Black wasn’t sure. The singe of the spectrals touching the soul magic bit under his skin.
With an imploding whoosh, they were back in their bodies, panting, melting into each other’s arms. Black dropped to his knees, not being able to do anything but hold Kady’s body.
“Holy ravioli. I think that’s what they call mind-blowing sex.” Kady breathed hard and dropped to the floor with him.
She kissed his face, his cheeks, his lips. He wanted to kiss her back, but he wasn’t sure he could even move yet. Had she endured that level of pleasure and pain each time she sent her power on the attack?
“Are you okay, Black?” She nuzzled into him. “I don’t know whether to say wow, thanks, or sorry. Next time we do that, you’re getting off too. No more of this making it all about my orgasms.”
Finally, he found the little bit of his brain that was still intact. “I’m fine. Are you in pain? I didn’t know it hurt you to use your power against the spectrals.”
“It didn’t hurt this time as much as before. More like that tingle you get when your legs have fallen asleep. The orgasm more than made up for it.” She giggled.
There was always a cost to magic, on his world anyway, but knowing it didn’t hurt her relieved him. “That was way beyond an orgasm, my love. I don’t know what that was, but don’t for a second think that I didn’t get off on it.”

“In my pants doesn’t quite cover it. I think I came all over the whole damn universe.”
The walls shimmered around them, slowly coming back into sight. “Damn. I thought I could hold onto the magic longer than that.”

Over the next few hours, Kady did indeed get a better handle on her magic. They found that after about four or five more orgasms she needed only to touch Black to be able to bring up both her shield and to blow away any sneaking spectrals.
That fact gave him the perfect reason to be sure he was always at her side during the battle he knew was upcoming.
Because while she had learned to use her powers, they had their limits. Each time she shattered a spectral it reformed and returned, eventually. She could impair them, but not kill them.
Only Black understood how to destroy them forever, as he had done back in the gnomes’ garden.
He hoped against the Fates that together, with Frost, his mate, and the Elite team they would be able to find another solution.
The sun rose over a rocky and flat stretch of the land. Black had felt at home in the mountain wooded area where Kady lived. This landscape, while beautiful, felt barren to him. Or maybe it was the dread of the battle to come.
The gnomes drove the vehicle to a deserted parking lot, past a sign that read “Visitor’s Center” and onto an unpaved road. A few minutes later they pulled up to a group of people gathered, including Titian, the fox, and the former Star Ranger, Frost.
“Kady, do you think you can clothe us before we meet with my team and the others?”
“If I have to.” She wriggled her nose and Black found himself covered.
He wore a cream-colored shirt, a black vest, blue pants with a red stripe down the side, tall black leather boots, and some sort of weapons belt. Too bad there was no weapon.
“How’s that? It’s what one of my favorite spaceship captains wears.”
“It will do fine. Thank you.”
She gave herself similar pants in light blue and boots, with a button down tan shirt and vest. She too had a weapons belt.
He tugged her to him by her belt and ran his hands along her hips, wanting to be near her for a moment longer, knowing the hardships that lie ahead of them. “What are the belts for? We do not have weapons, except for your magic.”
“Oh, I don’t know, that’s just what they wore in the movie”
He didn’t have time to romance her any longer than that one moment because they pulled up and she dropped the shield. Right before the walls reappeared he saw the astonishment on many people in the group’s faces.
The two of them climbed out of the container and were met by Titian and Frost, weapons held aloft. He held his hands up, but before they could exchange a greeting someone called out to Kady.
“Kaden Ayininkizi. I wondered when you’d finally show up.” A slightly older woman, with purple hair and sparkle in her eye came right up to Kady and hugged like they were old friends.
Ayininkizi? That was interesting.
Kady’s eyebrows went up, but she returned the greeting. Black was sure had never seen the purple haired woman before in her life.
“How do you know my name?” Kady asked.
The woman patted Kady on the cheek. “Well, what else would you be called?”
The Gunderson’s climbed down out of their vehicle and were greeted by the women in the group too.
Funny that Black had fallen so far in love with his mate and hadn’t even known her full given name. Black stilled for a moment.
Yes, love.
The urge to claim his mate and bond the two of them together had been overwhelming from the beginning, but, until this very moment, he hadn’t realized the depth of his feelings past the mating.

After greetings were exchanged between the group and the gnomes, the other woman with the crazy lady extended her hand to Kady. “Hi, I’m Lacey, and this is Topper. Welcome to New Mexico.”
Kady glanced at Black, and he shrugged, still struggling to hold his feelings in. Now was neither the time, nor the place. But, soon, and for their rest of their lives, Kady would know that he loved her with everything in his being.
“Thanks? Did you know I was coming?”
Topper laughed. “I’ve been waiting on you for a while, child. But, I knew you’d eventually find your way to Magic.”
“Don’t mind my aunt.” Lacey grinned in the woman’s direction. “Her gifts can seem a little intrusive at first, but you’ll get used to her soon enough.”
Kady didn’t look convinced, but Black was glad there were other witches here to help her with understanding more about her magic and powers than he could.
Frost stepped beside his mate and extended his hand to Kady. “Sorry you had to get stuck with such a sorry excuse for a Star Ranger, miss.”
Black would take offense, but instead he felt the tiniest stab of jealousy when Frost winked at Kady. His bear didn’t like the teasing flirtation much either and he couldn’t help the low growl that rumbled up.
Both Frost and Titian stared and Black, and both were completely humored. Titian even laughed and shook his head.
Frost raised his hand, never actually touching Kady. Good.
“I will refrain from shaking your hand, pretty lady, but will introduce myself. I am Stark, and Topper and I belong to each other as you belong to the bear.”
Was it so obvious to everyone there that he and Kady were mates?
Titian tapped his communicator and stepped into the group. “I hate to break up your slumber party, ladies, but we’ve got incoming.”
