Picture Purrfect: A Valentine Romance (Vale Valley Season 2 Book 4) by Jena Wade (9)

Chapter Nine

On Valentine's Day morning, I got up early. Knowing that Tony and I had a child on the way, and that he’d be staying in Vale Valley permanently, that we'd truly be mates, I decided that it was time I started treating him like my mate. While he slept, I put together a breakfast fit for a king. Pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and anything else that he might want. I'd even called in a favor and had the donut shop deliver some donuts for us to enjoy.

Later, when I thought that he had slept in a sufficient amount, I put his fully loaded plate on a tray and carried it to him. He was just starting to stir when I walked in the room. He peeked an eye open.

“Hey,” he said, his voice still rough from sleep.

“Good morning. I made you breakfast.”

He sat up, rubbed his eyes and then stared at the tray in my hands. “Holy crap. That looks amazing. I'm never going to be able to eat all that.”

“Yeah, I went a little crazy. Don't worry. I'll help you.”

He leaned up against the headboard and smiled lazily at me. “Come sit with me. We can have breakfast in bed together.”

“Perfect,” I said.

“Don't you mean purrrfect?”

I handed the tray to him and sat next to him on the bed, as close as I could get.

“Thank you,” he said. “This is very nice of you. Best Valentine’s gift I’ve ever gotten.”

“Well, after all of the things you've done for me this past week, it was time to return the favor,” I said. “We've got quite a few deliveries to make around town, think you're up for that?”

He nodded. “As soon as this breakfast is done. Then again, I might need another nap.”

“Me too,” I said as I took a bite of bacon. “And I haven't even cleaned up the kitchen yet.”

He waved his hand in the air. “I can handle clean up.”

“No,” I said. “This is my present to you. I'll clean up.”

“All right. So, do you know who we have to deliver to and when would be a good time? Or do we plan on just leaving stuff at people's houses if they're not available?”

“Well,” I said. “Most people should be working, so we can drop them off at their work. There's a few that will need to go to their homes. Either way, though, I think we can just leave them. People are pretty trusting around Vale Valley.”

“Perfect. How long do you think it'll take?”

I shrugged. “Couple hours. Why? What did you have in mind?”

“Just want to make sure we have enough time to go to the dance tonight and I’d like to give you your present as well.”

“You didn’t have to get my anything.” My heart leapt at the thought though. What could it be? “We can give Rosemary her picture at the dance tonight.”

Tony nodded. “We should swing by your dads also.”

“Yeah,” I said. “First—" I took a bite of toast “breakfast. Then maybe a nap.”

My dads were surprised when we showed up at their house later that afternoon. They had their tuxes laid out though, so I assumed they’d be going to the masquerade tonight as well.

“What's this?” my omega dad asked as I handed him the red paper bag with pink tissue paper coming out of the top.

“It's a gift, for being so amazing,” I said.

Tony wrapped his arm around my waist and kissed my forehead. He couldn’t hold back his grin.

“It’s from the both of us,” I said, and I held Tony tighter. I held him in order to keep myself grounded. I wanted to bounce where I stood, anticipating their happiness when they found out the news.

My alpha dad came up, eyebrows raised. “Really?” he said.

“Open it. You'll like it, I promise.”

My dads exchanged a glance, then my omega dad pulled out the tissue paper one by one and lifted the frame out of the bag. He gasped in surprise as he took in what exactly was in the frame. “You're pregnant?”

I nodded.

“There’s two?”

I nodded again.

His face broke out into a huge grin. “That's amazing.” He wrapped me into a hug, then pulled Tony in as well. “Congratulations!”

My alpha dad’s jaw dropped, and his eyes widened. He hadn’t moved.

“You're going to be a grandpa.” I smiled.

“That's… That’s so great,” he said with a hiccup of emotion. He wrapped me into a hug. Once he let me go, he reached out to shake Tony’s hand. “I take it that means you'll be sticking around?”

“Yes, sir,” Tony said. “I never actually intended to leave Vale Valley. At least I never wanted to leave, it just took Eric a little bit of convincing that I should stay.”

“That doesn't surprise me. He’s nothing if not stubborn, you’ll be good for him. You’ll be good for each other,” my alpha dad said. “Welcome to the family, son.”

“Thanks,” Tony said.
