She nodded and left my room, shutting the door behind her.

“Hey.” He pinched my chin, tilting my head back. “Whatever happens, we got this.” His hand slid to the back of my neck. “I promise you, once this shit is done, I’m taking you out of here.”
I nodded. “Listen, we need to—” Another knock sounded. Shit.
“We’ll talk later.” Stone kissed me hard on the mouth. “I want to make you scream out you love me again.”
“Ass,” I teased, elbowing him in the ribs.
He chuckled, nuzzling his face into my hair before landing a light swat on my ass. “Until tonight, baby.”

“No, I get it. Sometimes after all of the shit we deal with, we need a moment. I have lots of those.”
I nodded in understanding. “Can I ask you something?”
“Um …” She chewed her bottom lip. “Sure.”
“How are you and Coby doing?” I asked, not wanting to butt into my friend’s life but it was driving me fucking batty not knowing if they were going to make it.
She gave me a small smile. “We’re working on it. I love him. What I had with Greyson, even though we were kids at the time, I thought maybe he could have been the one. I never told him that. Coby knows a part of me will always love him but I realized quickly that Greyson only wanted to get his dick wet. He’s an asshole but he’s family.” She laughed, her cheeks reddening. “God, I’m blabbing.”
“I get it.” I laughed with her. “Your step-brother is a dick but his crew looks out for you.”
“For us,” she corrected, squeezing my arm.
I nodded. “I think we all need some time away after this.”
“God, yes.” She shivered. “I just want Coby to take me away. I could lose myself in him, knowing I would be safe.”

“We’re doing this shit now?” I asked, following Angel outside and finding all of Vice-One standing off by the far wall.
“Yes.” Angel rubbed the back of his neck. “I can’t go with you. If I don’t keep my nose clean, even though I’m retiring, Jay will kick my fucking ass.”
Resounding grunts of agreement passed between all of us.
“Does she know anything?” I had to ask, knowing that Tyler was her ex and caused quite the stir in their relationship.
“She knows something is up but I haven’t given her specifics. Not yet anyway. She also made me talk to her dad.”
“How did that go?” I couldn’t imagine he was all for us killing his vice-president.

“Tyler was kicked out but still acted as if he had some pull.” Angel tapped his temple. “The guy’s fucking nuts. Brian is on our side. I can’t say the same for the rest of his crew but he’ll deal with them when the time comes. Tyler is a dick and doesn’t follow rules. I don’t give a shit what this brings to our doorstep. This has moved far past their biker world.”
“Who’s coming with Dale and me?” I asked, keeping my hands behind my back for fear I’d start twitching like a junkie in need of a fix. You would think after the mind-blowing orgasms I just had I would be relaxed but knowing what was about to happen, I was strung the fuck out.
“We are,” Lian and Henley both said at the same time.

“All right,” I said slowly, “let’s get this over with.” I clasped a hand on Angel’s shoulder, giving it a light squeeze. “We got this.”
“I know.” He stared straight ahead at Dale who had been quiet the whole time. “Just bring our dickhead of a brother home.”
“Who are you calling a dickhead?” Dale muttered, cracking his knuckles.
“I just want to point out that no one knows about this,” Coby added. “Only Brogan. If word gets out we’re bringing Dale in …” His dark eyes narrowed. “Let’s just say, I’ll love seeing you in my girlfriend’s chair.”

Coby’s gaze met mine, a slight twinkle shining behind the dark orbs.
“All right, ladies.” Angel clapped his hands together. “Enough with the chit chat. We need to get this shit done and over with. We have more important things to deal with.”
