You Wreck Me (The Prospect Series Book 1) by Glenna Maynard, Dawn Martens (23)

Harlee

I smile as I watch Ellie and Carter cuddle on the couch, she convinced him to watch Frozen with her. I back out of the room quietly so I don’t disturb them. Seeing them together has me feeling even more guilty for keeping them apart. They have been spending every waking moment together. For the time being Ellie and I are staying at my dad’s place. Carter is working on finding us a house. He has even been staying with us at my dad’s place, making sure he tucks Ellie in every night. He even shaved off his beard for her.

I quit my job, which made my boss pissed, he doesn’t care about me, just cares about his biggest money maker, and put my house on the market. My real estate agent thinks I should find a buyer soon, which will be great, considering I bought the house at a steal, fixed it up and now it’s worth almost double what I paid for it.  I’m thinking of going back to school, but I don’t know what I want to do yet. Carter says he doesn’t care as long as it doesn’t involve anyone getting to see me take my clothes off. He’d actually prefer it if I stayed at home, but that would drive me nuts. He just doesn’t want anyone else to see me. The man is possessive but so am I; we both are going to have to get over it and just trust each other.

He wants me to stay home and pop out more kids, but I told him that won’t happen until there is a ring on my finger. Although, there is a high chance I’m pregnant right now, and I think he knows it because whenever he’s in the room with me and sees me drinking he takes it away while glaring at me. If I am pregnant, it’s too soon to tell, so a little drinking won’t hurt at this stage.

Making my way across the field and over to the clubhouse, I head to the front room bar, I spot Keisha flirting with one of the new prospects. I haven’t seen her in the week since I’ve been back. And there she is. She hasn’t changed much. Her hair is cut shorter but it’s still the same muddy water brown it’s always been. She has acquired some tattoos over the years. I still can’t believe she’s dropped so low. I thought she was better than this.

“Whores don’t come here. What are you doing here, Keisha?” I ask her, taking my place at the bar. She damn well knows the new rules around here; no whores in the main clubhouse. Apparently, there is a second clubhouse location for the whores and members to party at. This one is for the club members and family, and to talk business. Basically, the other location is just a giant whore house. As long as I never find out Carter goes there, I really don’t give a shit.

“Well, if it isn’t the MC’s mother fucking Princess.” She sneers out. “Come to take back your place? Just so you know, I ain’t giving up my spot just because your back. I’m the new fucking princess around here.”

We used to be best friends, and this is seriously how we’re talking to each other now?

“How could you, huh? Fuck my dad without protection and squeeze out another bastard sibling of mine?” I sneer back at her.

“Don’t you call my kid a bastard!” She snaps in my face.

“Fuck you. Seriously, how could you? You hated my dad as much as I did.”

“Yeah, well, when your so called best friend takes off, cutting you out, it makes you do things you never thought to do. Fucking your daddy was my way of paying you back for leaving me. It was also payback for that time you sent that fucking clown to stalk me for my birthday.”

I almost forgot about that, for Keisha’s eighteenth birthday I hired one of those creepy stalker clowns to follow her around all day. I chuckle at the memory.

“Don’t laugh at me you bitch! You don’t know how much that traumatized me, I knew I had to get back at you somehow, and then a week later it was your eighteenth birthday, and you just fucking vanish. So yeah. I fucked your father!”

“So what? I left. Boo fucking hoo. You know why I left, it had nothing to do with you.”

“Yeah, I did, I understood it, but you could have kept in contact with me or something.”

I shake my head. “And then you would have told your brother.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Yeah, I do. You might have been my best friend, but Carter was your brother, and you would have told him. Don’t even try to deny it. We both know you would have.”

“Whatever. I’m glad we’re not friends anymore. You hurt my brother, you kept my niece from me, his daughter from him. All this time you were hating on your dad and Carter, when you were just as bad as they were. Carter claims you are back together and shit now, but just you wait, won’t be long before he’s at the whore house fucking all the bitches in the place, and you’ll just be the bitch he comes to for dinner.”

“Fuck you!” I scream in her face. “How can you say I hurt your brother? What about me, huh? Was I not in the right to be hurt when he was cheating on me? I would do it all over again. At least I didn’t spread my legs open for an old man who only used you for a sperm dump.”

I don’t see her first punch coming, but the second one I do. Grabbing her by her hair, I smash her face into the bar top. “You know better, Keisha. No one fucking touches me.”

I keep smashing her face into the bar top until I’m grabbed from behind. “Princess, what the fuck are you doing?” My dad says as he forces me to let go of Keisha’s hair.

“That bitch hit me first.”

“Keisha, why the fuck you even here?” He asks her.

“I need money, you were supposed to bring it to me yesterday,” she whines. What the fuck happened to the girl I used to know? If I had stayed would she have turned out like this?

“Yeah, and I told you until I have a DNA test to prove the bastard is mine, you ain’t gettin' another dime from me.”

**

I’m at the hospital with my old man. We’re waiting for Keisha to meet us at the hospital to do the DNA test on her son.

“Dad, how many kids do you have exactly?” I ask him, needing to know, while staring at Teri across the food court, as she glares at me. She’s only a month younger than me, and claims she’s his daughter too.

“I only know for sure that you’re mine. I had you tested the day you were born to make sure your mother wasn’t playin’ me.”

“Okay, but what about all those kids I went to school with, the ones who tormented me constantly, who all claimed they were yours?” I look around and suddenly feel sick, every single kid who claimed they were my sibling is walking towards us. Before I can tell him, we’re surrounded, Jachin speaks.

“Well hello, daddy dearest.” He always picked on me in school. Tried to make it a living hell for me. He was the group leader when it came to giving me shit. I have to say he does have my old man’s eyes but he looks a lot like his bitch of a mother. Pointy nose, square chin, and dirty blond hair. He’s tall like my father too. His mom is about average height.

“Who the fuck are you?” Dad booms looking at him confused.

“You don’t recognize your own kids? That hurts,” Jachin mocks, with a hand at his heart.

“I ain’t your dad, boy.”

“Right, just like you’re not Teri’s, Sarah’s, Heather’s, Sam’s, Monica’s, mine, Harlee’s, and that new bastard?”

“Your mothers were all whores. Anyone could be your father.”

“Don’t you call our mother’s whores,” Sam says, getting up in dad’s face. What is this a fucking reunion?

“Your mothers came to my clubhouse, spread their legs, so yeah, I think I can call them whores.”

“Fuck you, old man. We’re sick and tired of Princess Harlee showing off around town with her ‘perfect’ fucking family. You owe us,” Teri spits at him.

“Don’t owe you fuck all, ain’t my kids.”

“Let’s do a test,” I speak up. “If it proves y’all are his kids, then we can stop the bullshit.”

The group goes quiet. “Works for me, don’t want this drama shit before I die.”

“Die?” Heather asks quietly. She’s always been the quietest of my group of tormentors, usually just stays in the shadows. I think if it wasn’t for the others, her and I probably could have been friends, but we’ll never know now.

“Yeah, cancer, not much longer.”

They don’t look all that upset but I wouldn’t expect them to be. They have never had a relationship with him.

“Anyway, we are here to get a test done on Keisha’s little boy. Might as well test all of you while we are at it. Why are all of you here anyway?”

“We heard you’d be here today. Thought it was time we got shit out in the open,” Jachin says with a shrug.

**

A week later dad gets on the phone and calls all his so called kids his over to the clubhouse so we can get the bullshit of ‘who’s the daddy’ out of the way.

An hour later, they all come through the front doors, along with their whore moms. Most of whom are looking nervous.

“Well? Sit down, stop staring off around the room, I want this shit over with,” dad says from his chair.

He gets up, passes envelopes to each mother, and they slowly open them as he sits back down. “Well?”

“Teri, I’m sorry, baby girl,” her mother cries.

“How the fuck could you let me think all these years he was my dad?”

“I wanted to believe he was because he always took good care of his women.”

“Demon was right, you are a whore.” With that Teri walks out of the clubhouse, her mother trailing after her, begging her to just talk to her.

“Sam,” his mother whispers and shakes her head.

“Fuck,” he mutters looking down. “So, who is?”

His mother’s face pales and she keeps her eyes to the floor. “I really don’t know.” I snort, figures. She looks at Demon, “Would it be possible to test a few other members? Just so Sam doesn’t have to wonder his whole life who his father is?” She asks him, timidly.

Dad shrugs. “Go for it. Every kid deserves a dad. Just leave your information with one of the guys outside, and we’ll set up another testing day.”

It keeps going this way until Jachin’s mother opens her envelope. She nods her head yes. “Should have done this years ago, I wasn’t exactly sure, because that time in my life, it could have been any member here,” she says mildly as Jachin looks at her in disgust.

So, there we have it, I have a brother.

“Keisha, what about you?” I ask her, as she reads her results with tears streaming down her face.

“No,” she whispers.

I sag in relief. I knew it was possible that every single one of these people could have been my brother or sister. At least I know now exactly who is and isn’t. I think about my mother as I look to all these kids’ moms.

“How could you knowingly sleep with a married man? Yeah, I get it, he’s in the wrong too, but how could you do that?” I ask them all.

They all look ashamed but not one says anything. Every woman though has admitted it could be anyone in this club, so it looks like we’ll be doing another batch of tests. I always thought Maury was a bunch of bullshit, but here we have it, live action biker version of Maury. I look to Jachin. “Are we gonna have a problem here?”

Shaking his head, no, he sighs. “I’m sorry for the bullshit I pulled. Where do we go from here?”

“We stand by each other while our father dies. And if you stop being a dickhead you can meet your niece.” He gives me a small grin, and we shake hands. “If I had known, Jachin, I would have made dad do this sooner. I’m sorry you had to see me with him, looking like a big happy family for so many years, when you weren’t even allowed to know your father.”

“Not your fault. I blame my mom, and I’m sorry I blamed you. You didn’t know about any of it. I heard what happened when your mom found out about it all, and fuck, I’m sorry, Harlee.” He rubs a hand over his face. “I was such a stupid shit kid.”

I chuckle at him and look around the room. Watching people start to leave.

The ones who don’t have any other business here file out other than Keisha. She is sobbing in my father’s arms and oddly he is consoling her.

He rubs her back and Jachin clenches his fist. “You okay?” I ask him.

He shakes his head staring at Keisha. “Keisha,” he grits out, his voice cracking.

She looks up and my father glares at him.

“Is he mine?”

My eyes widen. Keisha and Jachin. No way. I never would have thought it but I don’t really know her anymore.

She sobs again.

“Well?” Jachin demands.

“Leave her be. Can’t you see she’s upset,” our dad tells him.

“Fuck this,” Jachin spits at them and turns to leave.

“Wait,” Keisha calls out after him.

My half-brother turns around and she goes over to him. “Let’s talk in private.”

“No, anything you need to say. They can hear it too.” He folds his arms over his chest.

“Fine.” She wipes at her nose. “He could be yours or he could belong to…” she eyes my father nervously. “Briggs.”

“You really are a whore aren’t you,” Jachin says shaking his head. “I thought I loved you and when I told you I didn’t want to get married you fucked my father. How sick is that? If Brayden is mine, be prepared to only see him on the weekends because I will take you to court for custody and I will win.”

He storms out of the clubhouse, Keisha sobbing as she runs out behind him.

“What the hell was that about, Dad? With you consoling her?”

“When you left, she sort of became a daughter to me. She was going through a rough time, especially since you were her safe place, away from her mom and stepdad.” Carter never let me meet his mom while we were dating, hell, even my dad wouldn’t let me near their place. I don’t know much about them, just that they weren’t good people, and about a year ago, the club ran her out of town, at least that’s what I was told, most likely the club killed them, when it came out they were trying to sell Brayden, Keisha’s son, to some child ring.

“This is sounding gross. She became like a daughter to you, and you fucked her? What the hell?” I stare at him in disgust.

“It wasn’t like that. I honestly didn’t know I even slept with her the night she claimed I did, I was drunk, it was your birthday. I only remember waking up naked in bed next to her and had dried up cum on my dick.”

I gag. “Okay, please, stop. There are some things your daughter doesn’t need to hear.”

“You wanted to know. That’s what it was. I believed her at first that the kid was mine, I was sick about it. I had basically slept with a girl that was like a daughter to me. I didn’t know what to do. That’s all it was.” He rubs at his face. “I think she was more upset that I wasn’t the father because she knows I would have taken good care of her and that little boy. Gotta say, glad I ain’t that kid’s father, but don’t mean I won’t be there for him if he needs me.”

I look at him, seeing the truth in his eyes, and nod. “That better be all, because there is no way in hell, I will allow someone to be my stepmother that is younger than me.”

He laughs. “Don’t worry about that, Princess. I’m dying, not getting married.”
