Dirty Fight (Dirt Track Dogs: The Second Lap Book 3) by P. Jameson (6)

Chapter Six

Rod pulled the car to a stop in his driveway and killed the engine. Seraphina hadn’t said a word the entire drive. But then again… neither had he. And now they were here and he wasn’t quite sure what to do.

Plans schmans. He always had a plan, and they always fell through. So dragging his vixen home with him to watch over her had seemed like the only thing to do after she’d told him about the hound who was after her.

Now he’d have to figure things out quick. Like thirty seconds or less quick.

He gripped the steering wheel, remembering what she’d said in the parking lot. Some utter asshole thought she was his.

Anger lit him up all over again. He felt hot from it. Seraphina didn’t belong to no sneaky bastard fox. That was for damn sure.

She was hi—

Her own.

Yeah.

“You sure you want me here?” she asked from the passenger seat. She was peering out the windshield at his house. One light was on. The kitchen. All the rest were dark. “Not too late to drop me off at DTD.”

“Fuck that,” Rod snapped, bringing her shocked gaze around. He cleared his throat and tried to sound more civil. “You’re staying with me.” He wasn’t taking any chances with her. Not with her. She was too special. “Let’s go.”

He leaned across her lap to open her door and caught a whiff of her perfume. He froze as her scent shot right to his dick making it so hard he ached.

Shit.

How was that possible? He’d smelled some pretty things in his time. Zero of those things had given him a stiffy.

He breathed deep, because what else was he supposed to do. Ignore it? Touch her? He couldn’t speak, that was for damn sure.

“What is it?” Seraphina whispered. “What’s wrong?”

Her eyes darted out the window, expecting to find the reason why he’d stopped, leaning halfway across her like a fool. Her eyes flickered in that way that told him her animal was close to the surface. It was the most beautiful thing ever. They went russet brown, pupil slivering, before flashing back to normal blue gray.

“I don’t sense him,” she murmured confused.

Him. Maxim.

Rod’s gut churned.

And that did it.

Rod slammed the door shut making her gasp in surprise as she brought her gaze back to him. And when she did, her eyes went wide with recognition. He knew they could smell boners. Rider had told him.

Yeah, his vixen was finally catching on. But he didn’t let her speak. Speaking didn’t work so well for him. It had only gotten him in trouble with her.

They were going to communicate a different way.

His hand slipped around the back of her neck, pulling her forward in one smooth move until her soft lips crashed into his. He didn’t kiss her gentle. It might be the only one. He had to make it count.

Plying her mouth open, his tongue dove in, sweeping against hers until she responded. A guttural moan left her throat and he swallowed it down, loving her sweet flavor. He wanted to drink her up more than he’d ever wanted booze. She was better than all that. She was a cure. The cure.

Aw, shit.

Sweet Seraphina was his cure. He’d known it all along.

Their tongues slipped and tangled until he was burning so hot he thought he could burn them both up. When he pulled away to find her eyes, he was shaking all to hell and breathing hard as a bull. She was too.

Moments passed and neither of them said a word, afraid to break whatever magic had just happened between them.

His gaze dropped back to her mouth and she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. Goddamn. That was sexy. Did she know it?

He opened his mouth to tell her but didn’t get that far.

With a quiet growl, she lunged for him. Hands tangled in his hair, lips devouring his as she pushed him back into his seat.

Oh, hell yes.

They broke apart long enough for her to climb over the center console, expertly missing the gearshift. In a swift move, he pulled the lever to push the seat backward. And then she was on top of him, straddling his waist with her jean clad thighs, hands planted on his shoulders as she dove for his mouth again.

And this time he was keeping her there.

He wound his fingers in her hair and pulled. Not hard, but it had the right effect. Seraphina pressed her chest to his and grinded her hips over his steel-hard cock making him groan into her kiss. He could feel her nipples harden through her shirt and wanted at them. But the way she writhed on him felt too good to make her stop.

He could come just like this. With her hair a curtain all around them, her sweet moans in his ears, her scent filling the car until he was dizzy with it.

And no words.

No words to make him feel guilty. No words to remind him they were doomed because he was doomed. No words. Just her hot breathing and the sounds of their wet kiss and the feel of her hands clinging to him like he’d fall away.

His hips jerked upward on their own, and she let out a gasp that ended in a slow, long moan. Oh shit. Seraphina’s sounds were fucking music to his ears. Better than the dream he’d had. These were real and they were because of him.

He thrust up again, kissing her so fiercely she’d have bruises tomorrow, crazed for more of her sounds, more… something. Anything. More. Again and again.

She pulled away, her eyes going round and her cheeks a shade of red he could see even in the dimness of the car. “I’m going to come,” she breathed in awe.

Fuck. So was he. God. Like this. Humping in a car like a couple of horny teenagers.

He should feel shame, but how could he?

She rotated her hips and tossed back her head. She was fucking glorious riding him like that. They’d do it for real next time.

Next time. No. Yes. No.

That thought made him think too much, and thinking was almost as bad as talking.

He pushed it out of his mind as she grinded on him again and let out a cry that hit him square in the chest, zinging down his flexing stomach, and ending where his cock strained against his jeans. He gripped her hips to angle her right over that hard, unforgiving ridge and…

He felt the moment they were both gone, both tensing in pleasure as orgasms overtook them. Felt it deep inside, where the cage he’d built around his heart shook like a maniac was trying to get free of it.

He didn’t stop moving on her. Even when she slumped forward, burying her face in his neck and clinging hard to his t-shirt. Even as her breath came in huge drags like his. Not until she was mewling out words he couldn’t understand and his chest was caving in on him because it was over already.

The only sounds he could hear was his heartbeat rushing in his ears and the puffs of their breath.

Seraphina snuggled into him, and it was so much like an animal he couldn’t help the way his arms wrapped around her.

But the action froze him up harder than a block of ice. He couldn’t do this.

She sighed, sounding happy… or sad… he couldn’t tell.

Oh, what was he thinking?

This was a mistake, being here with her. Like this.

Shit.

A sour feeling took the place of all the good ones he’d just experienced, and that familiar knot built in his throat until he felt like he’d suffocate on it.

“DTD,” he blurted out, and then realized it wasn’t an actual sentence. “I’m going to take you to DTD.”

Seraphina went rigid in his arms.

“What?”

She pulled back to stare at him, their position now feeling awkward instead of sexy.

“I’ll take you there. Surge and Tana can—”

“But why? I thought you said I was safest here.”

Rod frowned. She was. And she wasn’t. Here, she was safe from Maxim. But at DTD she’d be safe from both of them.

“Is it because of what we just did?” she asked, her voice so quiet.

He opened his mouth, but couldn’t answer.

She put more distance between them, as much as she could in the small seat.

“But… but you kissed me. You claimed my mouth. I… I… thought you wanted this.”

He had done that. And he did want it.

Her eyes went big and watery and she drew in a sharp breath. “Oh. Oh! Oh no. You didn’t want this.” She looked around like she was suddenly becoming aware of her surroundings.

But he couldn’t let her think what she was thinking.

“I did, Seraphina.”

“Oh. Oh god. I…” She kept scooting backward like she was trying to find an escape route. “I’m sorry. I… oh, no.”

“Seraphina, look at me.” This brought her eyes up, but they were swimming now. Shit. “I wanted this. I did.”

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have come with you.”

She could mean that two different ways and he didn’t like either of them.

She scrambled backward, but there was nowhere for her to go except the—

HONNNNNK!

Seraphina screamed as her ass landed on the steering wheel and the car horn sounded. She fell forward back onto his waist and his bastard cock stirred again. She must’ve felt it because she jerked back, landing on the horn for the second time.

H-HONNNK!

He jerked her against his chest so she wouldn’t keep ping-ponging. “Shhh,” he said, and she went still, their faces so close their breath was mingling.

Moments ticked by. No lights came on in the house. Seraphina tried to pull away but he held her still.

“Wait, shhh.”

Just when he thought they were in the clear, the porch light flickered on, bathing his Mustang in pale yellow light.

“Shit.”

The screen door opened and Ma’s head poked out the opening. And he wasn’t sure, but was she smirking?

“Oh no,” Seraphina groaned. “This is so embarrassing.”

“Nah,” he murmured, opening the door and scooting her off his lap. “There are worse things.”

“Like what?”

He stood and slammed the door behind him. “Like accidently telling the entire county the name of your dream girl over an open mic. Come on.”

With that, he took her hand and led her inside.

Where she belonged.
