Captured Heart: A Second Chance Virgin Bride Romance by Lana Hartley (184)

Eric

Elia jumps me. Like, literally jumps me, her mouth closing over mine and kissing me so hard that I think we might suffocate for a moment because we both forget to breathe. When I pull away for air, she pulls me back.

I want her bad, but this is something else. “Fuck, Elia! What’s got into you?”

She kisses me and says, “You. I was crazy jealous when I saw Jessica and you laughing in here. I thought maybe something was going on.”

She gets all shy as she wraps her arms around me.

I shake my head as I pull up my pants, “Is that why you did this?”

She nods and then backs away and starts looking for her underwear.

“Not that I’m complaining, it’s just that I’ve made it clear that we’re an item, and you have nothing to worry about.”

I try to put my shirt back on, but it’s hard when I have a couple of buttons missing.

“Elia!”

I catch her attention for a minute, while she’s trying to pull her dress over her head. There’s something about having sex in the office that makes it even more worthwhile. The passion was rolling off her, and the idea that someone could walk in at any moment made me turn into a fucking animal.

“Shit, I could do with more lunches like that with a locked door,” I say as I head into my bathroom to grab my spare shirt. In my case, I wasn’t the only wild animal, Elia was as she ripped off my shirt as if she was in desperate need of sex, me, or maybe a bit of both?

“You’ve been so hot and cold lately, I came here and thought that maybe she’s the reason. Secretaries getting on with their bosses is so damn popular nowadays, that it seems inevitable especially with someone as hot as Jessica.”

Wow, Elia’s still going on about Jessica and I as I head out of the bathroom and make it back into my office. She’s sitting on the chair opposite my desk and still talking about her imaginary affair. I don’t think that she realized that I wasn’t even in the room. I want to reassure her that she has nothing to worry about. Secretaries and bosses usually tend to happen with married men who have too many kids at home, a wife spending all their money, and giving the boss inundated stress.

We’re not married, and we have no children. So, she has nothing to worry about, but I can see the distress on her face and decide not to say anything. I find it ironic that Jessica thinks that Elia’s a witch because both Ryan and I are into Elia. And then Elia thinks that something’s going on with Jessica because she just happens to be my secretary.

That’s when Jessica knocks on my door after I finish buttoning up my shirt. I shout out because I have no idea how to respond to Elia.

“Come in!”

Elia’s pouting, and if I didn’t know any better I would think she’s annoyed that I told Jessica to come in.

Crap!

Jessica’s my secretary, what did Elia think that I’d do?

“Sorry, I don’t mean to disturb you. It’s been a pretty eventful day, and I came in at six this morning to make sure that everything went smoothly.”

She walks in and closes the door behind her.

“It’s just that I have a date tonight, and I’d like to go home early. I’m just wondering if you need me for anything else today?”

“A date? Great, no you head off and have a good time. I’m glad that you’re out there dating. Who’s the lucky guy?” “Brent in finance.”

“Wow.” I smile at her, and I forget that Elia’s in the room as I think that I’m happy for Jessica. She’s moving on and no longer thinking about us being an option for her. That’s fucking brilliant.

I wave my hand as if I’m pushing Jessica out of the door.

“You go and have a good time.” I wink at her.

She smiles. “Thanks, Eric, and have a nice night, too. I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Not too early. Take as much time as you need.”

I think that maybe we should be heading home, so I decide to pack my case. As I hear Jessica shut the door I stand up, ready to tell Elia that we may as well leave the office, too.

“Seriously, you’re telling me that nothing’s going on with the pair of you?”

“Who?”

I scratch my head thinking that she can’t be talking about Jessica, she just said that she's going on a date.

“Jessica and you. Eric, you must think that I was born yesterday. She was telling you about the date, and if I didn’t know any better, I would think that you wished that you were on the date with her.”

“Was she the one that I just fucked on my desk?”

Maybe it wasn’t the best way to describe what had just taken place in my office, but to say that I’ve had enough is an understatement. Elia starts to head out the door, and I know that I have no choice but to tell her what I did for her today. Maybe then she’ll see that she’s the only one for me and will stop being so fucking paranoid.
