HoneySuckle Love by Ashley Nemer (14)

The day had passed by so easily that I hadn’t even realized it was getting close to eight at night. We had sailed, eaten great food, and had the best nap I ever imagined all in one day. Then Jessie said this would be the best first date he wasn’t messing around. Honestly it felt good to have someone giving me attention that cared enough to focus on those small little details. Like the color of my swimsuit. Now we were heading back to his place and I felt extremely anxious.

“What are you thinking about over there?” he kept his eyes on the road but you could tell he was keeping close attention to me.

“Just the day and where it is all going from here.”

“Did you enjoy it?”

“Yes, I really did. I almost wish it didn’t have to end.”

“You know that it doesn’t have to end right, we can keep going and going until you’re content.”

“I am sure that place cost a fortune, no your place is fine.”

“Is that why you suggested we check out because you were worried about money?”

I nodded my head and then said, yes.”

Jessie laughed, “Rachel gave me the room for free all I paid for was the supplies. I wish you would have said you wanted to stay then we could be in that awesome bed right now.”

I dropped my head into my hands and laughed. A real solid laugh. It dawned on me I spent most of the day today laughing with him. I couldn’t remember the last time I felt this happy, even while sporting the broken arm that was full of pain.

“Merewyn?”

“Yeah?”

Before he could ask me whatever he was going to ask my cell phone went off. I instinctively answered it without even looking at who was calling.

“Hello?”

“Merewyn

“Albert.” I said in a droll tone. I saw Jessie turn his head and look at me. I gave him the look of being sorry and continued listening to the cell phone.

“We need to talk.”

“I don’t know that I have anything else to say to you Albert. You had me thrown in jail.”

“You know I didn’t want that. You should have given me my ring.”

I shook my head as Jessie tried to talk and continued with Albert. “My mother talked to your mom I know what your grandmother said about this ring. That ring was never yours Albert she told you to give it to me, as a present. Not as an engagement ring.”

“Damnit Merewyn, why are you being so complicated? I need that ring!”

“No, you stop Albert. I am done speaking with you. You know I have a lawyer now.”

“Yes your current fuck buddies dad.”

“He isn’t my fuck buddy and he is a great lawyer, a man I respect. He is going to set the record straight and you will regret all of this.”

“Just give me the fucking ring Merewyn and I will go away.”

“Tell me why you want the ring so badly Albert, you didn’t even like your grandma that much so I damn sure know it isn’t about sentiment.”

“Why I want it isn’t of your concern just be smart.”

“I am hanging up now, leave me alone Albert.”

“I know where you are at Merewyn, be careful, I warn you, you will be sorry.”

“Is that a threat?”

“No, it is a promise.”

The phone went silent and I looked at Jessie with wide scared eyes. “He says he knows where I am.”

“Do you think he is following us?”

“I don’t know. Jessie, this has to stop I can’t take too much more of this insanity.”

“I know sweetie, let’s go to my place and we can call my dad.”

“He thinks we are together.”

“I gathered that based on your comments.” Jessie reached over and grabbed my hand and held it. “I don’t care if he thinks that, it’s what I want so it might as well be true.”

“I don’t want my problems to drag you down though.”

“Merewyn your problems are my problems. Don’t you worry about that? I am here for the long haul.”

By the time we pulled into his apartment he had already called his dad who was going to come over and speak to me. His dad suggested calling the police and filing my own report about Albert threatening me. So we called the local police and the night that had such potential to be great ended up full of drama.

“I just want Albert to leave me alone.” I told Jessie as we laid in his bed after his father and the cops had left.

“Then why aren’t you giving the ring back?”

“Not you too.” I rolled over on my side and had my back facing Jessie.

“Hey I don’t care if you keep it, melt it, and sell it, whatever. But all of this would be a moot point if you just gave it back to him.”

“Maybe but then I will have wasted all that time and energy for all of this on nothing. The relationship the aftermath, everything will have been for nothing.”

“But at least you would have your life back and you could get on with things.”

“I’ll think about it. His grandma wanted me to have it. She told Albert’s mom that I was more of a granddaughter to her than her own grandchildren. Part of me wants to keep it for her, because she had every right to think and feel that way. What would it say if no one fought for what she wanted?”

“Once again you worry about too many people and not enough about yourself Merewyn. But I support you no matter what.”

“I think I am just going to go to sleep right here. I don’t want to go home and I don’t want to move.”

“Can I come over there and cuddle or will I need to slip some pillows in the middle of us so we don’t risk crossing any lines?”

That got me laughing and I turned back over and looked at Jessie in the eyes. I smiled and then kissed him. He pulled me close and held me tight.

“I’m scared Jessie.”

“I’m scared too Merewyn.”

“Probably for different reasons though,” I said while nibbling on his chin.

“I’m scared that you will break my heart again.”

That made me chuckle and got an even bigger bite out of me. “Oh you’re scared huh; if I remember right you broke my heart.”

“I think you know by now this story goes both ways.”

“True.” I curled up into his arms and listened to his heart beating. This felt more like home than anything else. Just being with Jessie.

“You sleep well Merewyn.”

“You too Jessie.”

I wasn’t sure how long I laid there listening to his breathing and heart beating but it eventually put me into a deep sleep. When I woke up the next morning we were still in the same position except our hands were held tightly together and I felt at peace.

“Good morning M.” His husky tone was seductive, it was the kind of voice that could make a girl want to crawl up his body and devour him.

“Same to you Jessie James.” I placed my lips softly on his chest. When I heard him take in a breath I thought that maybe this is what we really needed. Some bonding.

“What are you doing there M?” He asked very hesitantly.

“Thanking you.” I said while I repositioned my body on top of his.

I let my hands wander over his chest and my nails lightly dragged down his skin. I could see his eyes open wide while my right hand traveled down his left side. My nails teased and tickled him, he wiggled underneath my body.

“You,” he said slowly and with pauses in his breath, “you don’t have to thank me Merewyn.”

Leaning over and letting my breasts touch his chest with only my thin layer of clothing in between us I whispered into his ear, “But I want to Jessie.”

With slow and tedious kisses I worked my lips over his body. Starting with his head, I kissed his hairline, his nose, under each eye, and of course his lips. I loved his lips. They were succulent and tasted of mint. He must have brushed his teeth sometime in the middle of the night I thought. Moving down his body I kissed a trail around his throat and down to the breast bone. That’s where I took a little more time, letting my tongue play along his skin.

By the time that I got to his hip bone I could feel Jessie’s excitement. “You ready for the next part of this gift?” I asked it in as seductive of a tone as I could manage but I couldn’t keep a straight face on. I was smiling ear to ear and I was sure I looked like a crazy woman.

“Oh yeah,” was all he managed to say, his smile just as large as mine.

With exact precision I kissed his slim trail of peach fuzz with my lips while my hands attached themselves to the thin boxer material. I pulled them down just as my mouth moved along the base of his shaft. I heard his moan when my lips touched the tip of his most sacred part. Jessie’s body wiggled underneath me as my mouth crushed against the base of his shaft, taking his manliness in with a quick thrust from his body.

“God Merewyn…”

His moaning brought joy to my ears, there was nothing more powerful than a man who was pleased and knew exactly what he wanted. In this case what he wanted was me. I trailed my fingers down the inside of his thighs as I continued to work him over. When his body started to shake underneath my touch I knew I was almost ready for the grand finale.

“Merewyn come here.” Jessie’s voice was shaky and I ignored it. This was my moment and I wanted to stay in control.

With a quick shake of my head I quickly brushed him off and continued to go towards my finish line when I felt his hands wrap around my arms suddenly I was being pulled up along his body.

“Inside you, I need to be inside you.” That was all he said. Jessie had me on my back and my legs spread open. I could feel him teasing at my entrance through my panties. “Take these off.” He demanded.

Following instructions blindly was never my strong suit but for Jessie I didn’t question, I just did. Wiggling out of my panties was difficult with him hovering on top of me but I made it work and there we were, skin to skin.

“I never stopped loving you,” were the last words he said before he slid inside me and began thrusting against my wet slick walls.

Thirty minutes later I was lying in his bed while he was showering. It felt so different this time. Not sex like it felt with Albert or even sex like it felt with Jessie in the past. Something had shifted between us and I just wasn’t sure what that something was. Not to mention the fact he said he still loved me. What was I supposed to do with that bit of information? I needed to first understand my feelings for Jessie and then fix my living situation. Maybe I could do both at the same time even.

“M are you ready for breakfast?” Jessie yelled out from the bathroom. The water noise was a bit high so he had to scream in order for me to hear him. It was that alarming tone gave me a jolt into reality.

“Yeah I am but maybe I should go home. I won’t want to put you out.”

The water stopped and I could hear the shower curtain being pulled backwards and a towel being removed from the rack. After about a minute of what was him drying off, I assumed, he stepped out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, in nothing but his birthday suit.

It was hard to look at him standing there naked in all his glory and not have my mouth watering with desire.

“Nonsense you will eat here, I’ll cook you relax.”

“What did you say? I can’t focus with you walking around naked like that.” I was teasing him, and I liked teasing him. This was a new feeling for me. I didn’t usually find myself as the teasing type but here I was licking my lips, looking at Jessie, wanting to eat him up, and teasing him.

“You enjoying the view I see.” It was as if his male ego needed another boost because the moment I grinned at his reply I saw a certain piece of his anatomy jump to attention which made me smile even more.

“View? No, it is the idea of breakfast that has me smiling.”

“I am going to call the BS flag on that statement M. Come on let’s get you showered then we can eat.”

“Oh no Jessie I am not walking over there, I know the moment I do you will attack me. Then we won’t eat and I certainly won’t shower.” I was still on the bed but now I had pushed myself up with my arms and I was doing my best evil seductive face unsure of how stupid I must look and if it was even working.

“Get up M I promise.”

“Looks like someone is already up for the both of us.” My seductive play was improving I thought. I never would have been this care free and open a year ago, so this was a good sign.

“Right you are but I promise he will leave you alone so you can shower and then we can eat.” Jessie put his right hand in the air and made the Boy Scouts honor symbol, “I swear it.”

“Fine, get me a towel.” Pushed up fully from the bed, walking across the room naked was hard for me. Which I found unusual. I didn’t have body image issues, so why did I care if Jessie watched me? He had seen me naked so many times in the past it shouldn’t have even mattered.

When I passed by him as I entered the bathroom I let my left hand sway against his member. Just because we weren’t having sex right this moment didn’t mean I couldn’t test the boundaries.

“Oh you evil woman.”

“Yes, yes I am.”

The shower went by quickly and he did actually leave me alone. This was a disappointment and a surprise all at the same time. Once I had toweled off and had fresh clothes on, albeit his clothes, I felt better. Opening the bedroom door and walking into the hallway I took a moment to look around and take in my surroundings.

Jessie had a two bedroom apartment, which only one bedroom was being occupied. The second room was empty and seemed to be used for storing broken down boxes. “You really did just move back home didn’t you.”

“I did, and this place needs a lot of work.”

“How many square feet is it?” I was now walking through the hallway to the living room where I noticed none of the décor really matched, it was a hodgepodge assortment.

“Twelve hundred but I swear it is less it doesn’t feel like that large.”

“They must not be making proper use of the area that’s for sure.”

“Why you asking?” Jessie handed me a plate full of eggs and bacon it smelled wonderful.

“Gotta get my own place and needed a point of reference. You know independence and all.”

“Ahh yes the wonderful independence. Want company today when you go looking?”

I took a few bites before responding, the eggs were good. I could taste the melted cheese inside them. He used sliced cheese just the way I like them. “I don’t know maybe.”

“Well you know how to reach me if you do.”

“Thanks Jessie I appreciate that.”

After our breakfast was done I insisted on doing the dishes. I never understood how people could eat together and always one person cooked and cleaned. Maybe my folks just taught me better manners, but that was something that drove me nuts about Albert. He never helped me clean and always expected me to cook. I made a vow right then and there I would never date a man who couldn’t contribute again. It wasn’t worth the headache.

“Penny for your thoughts M?”

I smiled and tilted my head, “Maybe show me the money first.”

Jessie laughed and came into the kitchen then wrapped his arm around me, “I will pay you for your thoughts, just not in the form of change.” He said seductively into my ear. How could he make even the most basic sentence sound sexual? It was one of those useless talents that some people acquired.

“I was just thinking about how much better you are than Albert.”

“Oh well then by all means carry on, I want you for sure thinking I am better class than that ass hat.”

I laughed and then finished the dishes. When I turned around to look at him what I saw back was a beautiful imagine. Jessie standing there, arms crossed, smiling at me.

“I don’t think I ever stopped loving you either Jessie. And I don’t know what to do with that bit of information.”
