Over The Edge: A Dads Best Friend Romance by Charlotte Grace (2)

Chapter 2

Geoffrey

Yesterday hadn’t gone as smoothly as one would hope on their first day, but the problems my friend had with his daughter were evident. She was headstrong, determined to do her own thing. If only I could set her straight. I closed my eyes and I could envision her across my lap, squirming, that round ass of hers up in the air just primed for me to turn it red. It wouldn't take long, I bet. A few solid swats and she would cry, then beg for more.

I bit my lip and felt blood rush south as I continued my daydream. I could think of a few rewards to give her for finally bending to me. One of them would involve those lips wrapped around my cock. I had to adjust just as the explicit thoughts of my new assistant became a little too much for my slacks. If I kept on this avenue I would need to lock my door so I could have a private moment. I hazarded a glance at my watch. I could make time for it. The more I thought about her, the more it seemed necessary.

The intercom broke my line of thought. "Mr. Hollister, you have a call on line two." Boredom just seemed to carry on every note of her voice, the subject of my daydreams just seemed to beg for it.

I thought it was best to not answer her. Instead, I answered the appropriate line on speaker. "Hollister Aviation."

"Geoff," Ross replied as a form of greeting. "Please tell me she's not in line to be axed."

Maybe that explained her tone before. "Buddy, Missy is doing fine. It's just day two. Trust me if I was going to fire her I would give you a call first to see what we could do to fix the problem." I straightened in my chair as I spoke, every illicit thought banished. "Of course, all of that isn't necessary. It seems to me that she's going to work out here just fine."

"I don't believe you."

"I haven't called to complain and I don't intend to. Don't worry about it." I smirked a little as I thought back to what I was considering before. "I have her under the right people to make sure she does her job. She's been on time so far. What you need to worry about," I decided it was probably better to change the subject, "is how I managed to hand you your ass on the golf course the last time we played."

That got a laugh from him. "You got lucky."

"We can see if it was luck or not." I tapped on the desktop as I looked at my schedule. "I think you owe me a round."

"I think that was the deal." I knew from the tone of his voice that he was no longer concerned about his daughter. "How about Saturday?"

"I'll get my new assistant to fit you in." I couldn't help but be amused by that. "So, she can also tell you she's taken care of here." We chatted for a bit more before my stomach clenched and I had to let him go.

I stood and plucked my jacket from the back of my chair, I didn't bother with the intercom system. I walked out the door and looked at the two women that were at either side of the hallway. Amy was working diligently at her computer and Missy was trying to cover the fact that she was playing with her phone. "Ms. Hamilton," I announced, watching as she jumped in surprise. She immediately looked as if she were trying to cover the fact she was doing something wrong. "I was just leaving for lunch. Would you care to join me?"

She blinked those bright blue eyes at me before turning to look at Amy. I didn't bother to look away from her.

"Uh ... sure."

I waited as she collected her bag and forgot to clock out. It would be an effort to take the time to correct her.

We took the elevator down to a little cafe in the lobby of the building. It was simple and public enough that I wouldn't fall into temptation. "So," I said as we walked to a table and sat across from each other. "Tell me about yourself."

"My dad made me work here." Her tone was so petulant, no wonder Ross called to check on her.

"I'm aware," I said. This was going to be an effort. But even with her false sense of entitlement, I was struggling not to take in the shape of her legs or the curve of her hips. Ross should be more worried about how beautiful his daughter was, rather than she couldn't hold a job. "Part of the reason why you are here is that you seem to be having a problem in deciding what you want to do with yourself."

"They want me to grow up too fast," she argued, using the menu to distract herself.

"It's not about growing up," I couldn't help but correct her. "It's about being responsible. If you spend all your days in the club you aren't going to amount to anything. I believe that your father is trying to prevent a disaster from happening."

"I'm not going to be a disaster," she argued and shot me a glare. That defiance was so clear it took every bit of me to keep my cool. "It's perfectly normal not to want to bend to the demands of others."

"It is," I couldn't help but agree with her. Just like I couldn't help but think about what it would be like to get her to bend to me.

There was nothing about taking her to lunch that seemed to sway that thought. I spent the rest of my day distracted by her, but at least after a report from Amy, it was clear that she was going to do some work. She wasn't holding Amy back from doing her own assignments.

My cell phone vibrated in my pocket and I couldn't fathom who would be calling me at the end of the day. When Trevor's number lit up the screen, I couldn't help but smile as I answered it. "Geoff Hollister," I said as a form of greeting.

"Dad!" His tone didn't hide the sarcasm. "Get your head out of work, it's quitting time." Despite his tone, there wasn't anything disrespectful in it. The understanding I had with my son was so different from what Ross was dealing with.

"Can't, kid." I didn't bother holding back from him as I left the office for my car. "Work goes where I do." Thinking about that made me realize something. They were the same age. How could they be so different? "Did you need something?"

"What? I can't call in to check on the old man?" He laughed a little, but the jab managed to hurt. I shouldn't be fantasizing about a girl that should be with my son.

"You could," I kept up my pace to find the Audi in my parking spot. "But that wouldn't be you. Everything okay?"

"Yeah," he snorted as if he wasn't expecting anything different. "I had this idea for tech out here. I was hoping to pass it by you. I think it would be a good move for us to take."

"So, you're telling me to get my head out of work, but you're calling to talk about work." I paused to lean back against the car. "I'm curious, but is there any chance we can save it for Saturday?"

"I can wait," he agreed. "It's not dire as long as you're buying me dinner."

"Can do, kid," I grunted with a sinking feeling. All these thoughts I was having about this girl and I couldn't help but think she would be a better fit for him. "I'll see you then." I needed to get her out of my head.
