Torn (Deathstalkers Book 8) by Alexis Noelle (4)

Chapter Four

Rebecca

Light shining in my eyes wakes me up. I open my eyes but quickly close them with a groan. My head is killing me, and I feel like I've been hit by a truck. I feel my bed underneath me and realize I have no idea how I got here. I only had one drink, so none of this makes any sense. I force my eyes open as I try to sit up groaning again.

"Morning sleeping beauty." A deep voice sounds, and I freeze.

That’s when I see him. The guy from Carter’s conference, Storm.

What the hell is he doing here?

Why is he in my room?

What happened last night?

"You should be more careful you know." He cocks a smile at me.

"I can't believe I even have to ask you this, but what happened last night?" My voice is scratchy, and my throat is raw.

"There's some water and Motrin on your night table." He nods next to me. "Take it I'm sure your head feels like it's been split in two.

I reach for it seeing the bottle is still sealed and take a drink of it. Grabbing the bottle of medicine, I pop a couple and then finish off the entire bottle of water.

"What do you remember?" He leans forward his massive arms resting on his thighs. His presence makes my room feel so small.

"I um…not much. I remember getting to the party, and I met a guy. He ordered me a drink and then offered to give me a tour of the house." I try to search my mind for anything else, but there is nothing. Fear settles in as a pit forms in my stomach; I can feel tears forming in my eyes as I think of everything that might have happened."

“Calm down. Nothing happened.” His voice is steady.

“How do you know that? How did you even get here?” My hands scrub my face trying to make sense of this all.

"I was in the neighborhood last night when I saw you. Some guy was carrying you to his car. It was obvious that he had slipped you something from the way you couldn't even hold yourself up. I stepped in and took you back here, wanted to stay to make sure you were good." His eyes are trained on me.

“You mean he was going to…” my voice trails off at the thought of what could have happened.

“Yea, piece of shit. You gotta be careful.” I can hear the anger come out in his tone.

I shake my head trying to process everything. “How did you know where I lived?”

"You told me as I was carrying you home. I had my bike with me, but I couldn't hold you and ride at the same time."

Oh, my God. He had to carry me?

I want to sink into the covers in complete embarrassment.

“Thank you.” I cant think of anything else to say. This man saved me from what could have been a terrible situation.

"No need to thank me. You go out again you need to be more careful. Take your phone. Don't take drinks from people. Stay in a group." He raises an eyebrow at me in question, and I nod.

I can't stop the what-ifs from running through my head, and my body begins to shake.

"Shit." He says under his breath as he gets and walks over to me. He sits on the edge of the bed and pauses a moment before wrapping his arm around my shoulder and pulling me against his chest. I should pull away; I don't know him. The thing is that at this moment, in his arms, I feel safer than I ever have in my life. I relax against him and enjoy the feeling until my door opens.

"Hey, Becca I—" Sara's voice cuts off when she sees Storm and I sitting here. "Holy shit. I uh—sorry." She quickly closes the door, and I groan pulling away from him but instantly missing his warmth.

"Thank you for everything you did for me last night. I need to get dressed and go talk to her though." His eyes are focused on me, and I bite my lip nervously as I glance toward the door.

"Get yourself together, and then I'm taking you to breakfast." It wasn't a question, but a statement. He stands up and walks out of my room as I sit there frozen.

The door closes, but I still don't move. My head is spinning with the fact that I woke up with him in my room and everything he told me happened. If he hadn't been there, I don't know what would have happened to me.

The door opens, and it's Sara again. Her eyes are huge as she almost runs over to my bed. "Holy shit Becca, he's fucking hot. What happened to the guy I left you with last night?"

I tell her everything I know and how Storm ended up here.

“Wow, so he’s like you knight in shining leather.” She winks at me and laughs.

"Real funny." My phone buzzes next to me, and I see Pat's name. "Shit I never called him last night."

“No worries he texted me and I told him you forgot your phone and that you had made it home.” She winks at me.

“How did you know I made it home?”

Her eyebrows draw together in confusion, “you texted me and told me.”

“Ugh, my head is such a mess.” My phone starts buzzing again.

“I’ll let you answer that. Besides I want to go see if Storm has any hot friends.” She laughs before leaving the room.

I pick up my phone, not wanting to hear crap from my brother right now. "Hi, brother."

“Where the hell have you been? I’ve been texting you and calling all morning and last night.” The irritation in his voice is very apparent.

"I forgot my phone last night, and I was so tired when we got back that I just passed out. It's not a big deal Pat, I'm eighteen, and this is the first time I ever went to a party." I roll my eyes at how crazy he can be.

“I have every right to be worried about you. Do I need to remind you—“

"No. You don't. I don't want to have this discussion right now. Sara and I are going to get breakfast and then heading to the library. I'll talk to you later." I hang up before he can protest or harass me anymore.

Standing up I take a look in my mirror, and my eyes widen. I look like shit.

Just great.

Running a brush through my straight hair, I try to tame it as best as possible. I toss on some foundation and concealer to help the bags under my eyes and brush on some mascara. I grab my favorite pair of ripped jeans, and a cut up guns and roses t-shirt that I picked up at a thrift store. I still look rough, but much better than before. I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth before walking out into the living room. Storm is standing in the kitchen leaning against the counter as Sara blabs on and on. His distant look makes me laugh. They both turn my way.

"You ready?" his question is simple but so much more complicated then he realizes.

I’ve never been on a date, and certainly not with anyone as intimidating as Storm. I nod not trusting my voice.

"Have fun, you two crazy kids." Sarah laughs.

We walk outside an awkward silence setting in. He moves toward the building parking lot, and I stop in confusion. "I thought you said you left your bike and carried me back?"

“I did, but I had one of the prospects grab it for me and drop it off in the lot.” He shoots me a smile before grabbing my hand to lead me.

For a second I want to pull away, but I like the way my hand feels in his. "What's a prospect?" I glance at his back and notice a large patch on his leather. Its got a skull and a scorpion, the name Deathstalkers MC is printed on it. "What's the patch on your jacket for?"

We stop at a motorcycle, and he turns to me his hands on my hips. His eyes lock with mine, and he holds the gaze for a minute before his head dips down capturing my lips in his. I'm shocked at first not knowing how to react as his tongue slides into my mouth stroking mine eliciting a small moan from my mouth. My body warms from head to toe. I slide my hands up his arms and rest them on the back of his neck, the short hair pricking my fingers. I move with him as best I can, not really knowing if I'm good at it or I suck.

He pulls away his forehead resting on mine. “Fuck I’ve wanted to do that since yesterday afternoon.” His head dips again as his teeth drag across my bottom lip. I let myself relax against his chest. “Sweeter than I thought you’d be.” He places a kiss on my lips before taking a step back.

I feel so unsteady on my feet. Storm hands me a helmet, and that's when what I'm about to do hits me. "I um…I never…"

"I already guessed that. Just put on the helmet, and I'll do the rest of the work." I slip it upon clipping the strap under my chin.

He climbs onto the bile and then reaches for my hand so I can do the same. “Keep your feet here.” He says pointing to a spot and I do as he says. His hands grasp mine as he pulls them around his large frame and rests them on his stomach. “Hold on tight Angel.”

Angel?

Before I can ask why he called me that the bike roars to life underneath me. The gentle vibration is almost calming as I tighten my grip on him. He pulls out of the lot, and a surprised screech leaves my mouth. I feel him laughing and take a deep breath.

I don’t know what this is with Storm but what it could turn into scares me.
