Alpha's Ride: An M/M Shifter MPreg Romance (Texas Heat Book 4) by Aspen Grey (20)

Gabriel

Dinner was delicious and having our first real meal together as a full pack was awesome. There’d been turkey, a bowl overflowing with creamy mashed potatoes with scallions, carrots with some kind of sweet sauce on them and a pecan pie for dessert. It had been Percy’s first time even tasting pecans, and he still couldn’t get over it.

“Do you think they’d mind if I had another slice?” he asked me from the bed where we were lying, looking out the open door as the last rays of sun set over the horizon.

“You gonna eat the whole thing yourself?” I laughed as he grinned and raced over to the fridge.

“Not the whole thing!” he replied as he cut himself another slice. “It’s just too good, though!”

“It was good,” I chuckled. “I can’t believe you never had pecans before. How is that possible?”

“Stop it!” he protested, scooping vanilla bean ice cream onto his plate. “You’re making me feel like some weird outsider who’s never had pecans or something. All right, already! Commit me!”

He slumped down on the couch beside me and stuffed a spoonful of pie and ice cream into his mouth. His lips were plump and red and I just had to lean forward to kiss him as he started to chew.

“Hmmhmmm,” he chuckled, his mouth full. I poked him in the side, causing him to jump as he swallowed his first bite.

“We’ll eat them out of house and home,” I told him as I sprawled out on my side and looked up at him. He looked so happy and content with his little plate of pie and ice cream. Preston and his pack had been so welcoming that he’d settled right in—and so had I.

“Oh, they grow plenty of stuff here,” he joked, waving his hand dismissively in the air. As he did, he accidentally hit himself in the nose with his spoon, brushing a bit of ice cream onto his face. “Gah!”

I laughed, leaned in and licked it from his skin. “Mmmmm. You taste good.”

“Stop that, you’re going to turn me on,” he warned me, waving the spoon at me threateningly.

“Yeah?” I teased, running a hand up his thigh. “And what’s wrong with that?”

Percy’s eyes closed and he took a deep breath as I moved my fingers higher up his leg. He still had a good amount of dessert left, but my distraction was enough to cause him to put it down.

“How do you do this to me?” he asked as he bent forward and pressed himself against me. His scent was Heaven. His body was the warmth that fueled my life.

“How could I not?” I countered, running my hands up his back. I glanced around, feeling my cock swell under my jeans, but it was still early into the night and people were still milling around the house. “God, I cannot wait until we have our own room!”

“Yeah, when is that going to happen?” he asked, pecking me on the neck with deliberate care.

“Not really sure,” I admitted. “Preston’s more of the woodworker than I am, but I can’t imagine it taking more than a month or a month and a half before we get most of it framed in.”

“Framed in?” he frowned.

“Like the framing…” I chuckled. “Like the skeleton of the house that the boards all go on.”

“Ah, okay,” he nodded. “But we can’t live in the framing.”

“No, no, we can’t,” I smiled and nodded. “But the rooms go in pretty quickly after that. If more of the alphas want to help us, we could get it done even faster too”

“I hope they do,” Percy groaned as he threw one leg over my torso and clung to me like a monkey climbing a tree. “Because I want to be alone with you more.”

“That makes two of us,” I told him as I ran my fingers through his hair.

For a moment, neither of us spoke. We simply existed together—shared a moment that, despite being in a house with many other people—was ours and ours alone. If the world had ceased to exist in that moment, we would continue on, spinning together in the eternal void, bound together by our love, our fate.

Absentmindedly, my hand drifted up and down his back, feeling the smooth skin and his cute little back dimples that I loved so much. His warm scent of banana nut bread made its way into my nostrils and settled down. He calmed me and excited me at the very same time.

“What do you think about Gabriel Junior?” he asked.

“Gabriel Junior?” I asked.

“For our son!”

“Oh,” I smiled. “No, I don’t think so. That’s the name I gave my…when I was a teenager.”

“You call your dick Gabriel Junior!?” he exclaimed. I shrugged and chuckled. “There’s nothing junior about that thing!”

I burst out laughing and spanked him on the ass, causing him to wriggle even closer to me.

That’s something I need to do more, I thought with a devilish smile. Percy leaned in with his plump, puckered lips, but stopped just before he reached me, an odd look on his face.

“What?” I asked him. But he didn’t respond. His eyes darted around like he was paying attention to some hidden sensation I wasn’t aware of. “Babe, what is it?”

“Oh, Gabriel,” he smiled, tears flooding his eyes. “I’m pregnant!”
