Seeing Double

Tara

When Deke drives us to Wheels rather than directly to his place, I figure we’re stopping by to pick up my car, so I’m puzzled when he invites me to go inside with him.

“I’m not thirsty,” I tell him, hoping I don’t sound rude. Aside from meeting him, my visit here last night was not the most pleasant experience in my life. Besides, I’ve been getting worked up all night, and I don’t know how much longer I can wait to be alone with him.

I’ve always thought Megan’s guys were attractive — let’s be honest, most of the female population of the United States thinks that — and Zoe’s bodyguard/dates are good-looking men, too. But Deke had all my attention tonight.

It’s more than his physical appearance — though that’s pretty spectacular with his ripped physique and beautiful eyes — but the way he carries himself is something special. He’s a gentleman, but he has a commanding, Don’t mess with me vibe that is seriously hot.

There’s something irresistibly sexy about his absolute confidence. It makes me equally confident — that we’re going to have an amazing time tonight.

But not just yet apparently. “I just need to run in for a few,” he says. “C’mon.” He takes my hand and leads me inside, ignoring my impatient pout.

The bar is even more crowded than last night, and I hope this doesn’t mean he’s going to need to jump in and help out. I do appreciate that he made himself available for me on short notice, but I’ve been catching glimpses of his ass in his tight jeans all evening, and I need to get him out of here quickly.

Deke nods to several people as he steers us straight to the bar. Hawk, the bartender I met last night, is working again, and there’s another man with him.

I stop dead in my tracks. Deke appears to be behind the bar, yet he’s also still right next to me, holding my hand.

I know my eyes must be playing tricks, making me think I’m seeing double after the twin party we just attended. I look at Deke, back to the bartender, then back to Deke. The two Dekes are looking at each other, exchanging nods of greeting.

I study the bartender more closely. His hair is slightly longer than Deke’s, and his beard is fuller. There’s a snake tattoo on his right arm that my date does not possess, and the clothing he wears is different. The barman’s eyes are the same devastating blue, however.

Then Deke removes all doubt. “Tara, I’d like to introduce my twin brother, Jake. Jake, this is Tara Jordan.”

It sounds like a cliché, but my jaw literally drops open. I know this because Deke chuckles, puts a finger to my chin and gently closes it for me. I feel my face heating, but I can’t stop staring at his brother.

“Nice to meet you, Tara.” Jake extends a well-inked, well-built arm across the bar and offers his hand. Stifling my embarrassment, I take it — and electric heat shoots up my arm and through my body.

He feels it, too. His eyes flare and his hand tightens on mine for an instant, almost painfully, before he releases me. Then his face goes carefully blank.

He’s hiding his reaction — for his brother’s sake. A strange sensation pierces my chest.

Deke says, “Jake’s a big fan of Mexican food.” I’m pondering this odd bit of information when he adds, “It was probably him you saw at José Domingo’s.”

It hits me hard and all at once. Jake is actually my fantasy man — the one who's been haunting my dreams.

And from the way he was looking at me before he wiped his expression clean, he’d be more than happy to help me turn those fantasies into reality. But I’ve already started doing that with his brother. Talk about being on the horns of a dilemma!

On top of this revelation, I'm stunned by Deke's honesty. He surely knew I was about to do all kinds of dirty, dirty things with him, yet he brought me here so that I could meet the man who'd actually caught my attention all those weeks ago.

Jake gives Deke a quizzical look, but the bar is loud, and I don't think he caught everything his brother said. Then a man comes up to Deke, who steps aside to talk, and I’m left alone with his gorgeous brother.

I’m not the shy type, but for some reason I find myself flustered. Maybe because all the fantasies I’ve been having about him choose that moment to surface, filling my mind with salacious thoughts. I bite my lip, trying to curb my unruly responses, and Jake’s mouth curves up. He doesn’t say a word, but the look on his face has my panties getting damp.

I should mention at this point that I have never understood my friends' penchant for twins. Megan didn't set out to fall in love with two men; it just happened. Zoe, on the other hand, had a twin threesome on her bucket list and went for it at her first opportunity.

Personally, I've always thought one guy at a time was more than trouble enough. But now I’m standing here, a few feet away from two sinfully sexy men who inspire the hottest lust and the dirtiest desires I’ve ever felt.

For the first time, Zoe’s desire for the twin experience not only doesn’t sound crazy, it sounds mouth-wateringly tantalizing. My head is spinning, my skin is tingling, and my nipples are getting hard as my mind goes to work imagining the possibilities.

What if?

It’s just one night, after all.

One night, with the two most beautiful men I’ve ever met …

Why not?

“Tara?”

It’s Deke, back at my side. I meet his gaze, not even trying to hide what I’m feeling, and his face changes. His eyes go soft — as if I’ve just told him something he likes a whole lot — while the rest of his features tighten and sharpen, giving him the lean and hungry look of an animal on the hunt.

It makes my pussy clench.

“Are you thinking what I think you’re thinking?” he says, his voice deeper, rougher. From the corner of my eye, I see Jake watching us, his dark brow knit over his sparkling azure eyes. He knows something’s up, but he’s not sure what yet.

One last chance to change my mind. But if I back out, I’ll always wonder what it would have been like. Swallowing, I nod my head. Once. Then again, and yet again. Solemnly, as if I’m taking a vow.

I want there to be no question about what I’m saying.

Still, Deke, gentleman that he is, wants more. “I like to flatter myself that I’m pretty good at reading people, darlin’. But I’m gonna need words from you for this.”

I’m not sure I can say it out loud. He’s looking down at me, arms folded across his chest, and I put one hand on him, then look at Jake, and back at him. His eyes warm, and my fingers tighten convulsively on the steely muscles of his forearm.

But even after that, he says, “Words, Tara.”

“Deke …”

“How are you gonna do it if you can’t even say it?”

Groaning, I do a face-plant into his broad chest, and his arms come around me. He feels so good, warm and solid and sexy. “This isn’t my usual style,” I mumble, but he hears me.

“I kinda guessed that, darlin’. And I’m honored that you’re even considering it. So will Jake be, when I tell him.” He puts a finger under my chin and tilts my face up. “But I ain’t saying a thing to him unless you give me the words.”

“Fine.” It bursts from me like water from a broken dam. I go up on my tiptoes, my hands braced against his chest, and Deke obligingly bends his head down to me. No matter how open-minded bikers are, I’m not blurting this out for everyone to hear.

When my mouth is as close to his ear as I can get it, I hiss, “I want both of you!”

I drop down until my feet are flat on the floor again, and he smiles at me like he’s proud of me. “There. Was that so hard?”

“Yes!” My face is burning up. I’ve never been prudish, but I still can’t believe this is happening. Until I look at Jake, whose expression has turned darkly speculative in a way that makes me want to launch myself across the bar at him.

“Wait here.” Deke gives some kind of signal to Hawk, and then he and Jake disappear down a hallway off to one side of the bar. I try not to fidget too obviously, but I’m as nervous as a kitten in a pack of coyotes.

Everyone must have seen me talking to Deke, or else word got around about last night. Not a single man approaches me. Most of them don’t even look at me.

I try to imagine the conversation the brothers are having right now. What if Jake’s not interested? Deke said he would be, but … does that mean they’ve done this before?

Ack. I don’t want to know. Not that it matters.

Just one night.
