Claiming His Miracle: An M/M Shifter MPreg Romance (Scarlet Mountain Pack Book 6) by Aspen Grey (23)

Nate

How lucky am I? I thought as I held my children in my arms, Mira in my right arm, and Rose in my left. Tyler had been kind enough to let me hold them both and was sitting in the chair in the corner of the room, his head tilted back against the wall – fast asleep.

“Didn’t I do all the hard work today?” I asked Rose as I sniffed her beautiful newborn scent. She smelled like both of us, and as Osana had predicted, she had my eyes. One blue and one green. But she had Tyler’s hair. Not completely, but more than mine. Tyler’s was a flawless blond, but Rose’s was peppered with brown, and slightly curly in spots. She was going to make hairdressers drool over her when she got bigger.

Mira was too old to be nursing, but his sister was suckling eagerly at my chest. I’d forgotten just how sweet of a sensation it was. There was an unbreakable bond between Tyler and me, but the bond between a father and his baby like this was something else entirely.

The fire was crackling in the hearth, and would need another log soon. I’d wait until it was almost out to wake Tyler. I was beyond tired, having reached that point where you no longer need or want sleep. I knew that when I finally crashed, it would be impossible to wake me, and Tyler would have to take over parental duties for a while. Until then, I was happy just to bask in the glow of my family.

Osana had left us alone, but I knew it wasn’t long until the rest of the pack came to visit, and just as I had the thought, a knock came from the door.

“Yes?” I called out softly, doing my best not to disturb my children.

“It’s Patrick!” His voice came from the door. “And…a few others.”

Yeah – a few. It was the rest of the omegas from the camp. I knew it before the door even opened.

“Come on in,” I told him. The door creaked open and Patrick’s smiling face poked in.

“I hope we’re not disturbing you!” he said as he entered.

“Not at all,” I smiled. “Can’t say much for him though.”

I nodded in the direction of my sleeping mate. Patrick suppressed a laugh as he came over to the bed, followed by the rest of the omegas: Jimmy, Terry, Carl, Andy, Steve, Chris, and Matias’s mate, Chase, who I hadn’t seen in a while.

“Hey, guys,” I smiled. With the exception of Chase, they were all former members of Kade’s pack. We’d shared a lot of terrible experiences together under his rule, so I’m sure that them seeing me happy like this was something very special. I could only hope that one day they would be able to experience the same joy I was experiencing.

“Oh, they’re so beautiful,” Chris said, taking a step forward.

“What did you name her?” Terry asked me, keeping his voice low.

“Rose,” I told him.

“Awww,” they all said in unison.

“How are you, Chase?” I said. “I haven’t seen you in a while.”

“Doing well, thanks,” he said. “The twins have been keeping me busy. Two’s a lot harder than one, but you’re gonna know that now for sure!”

I laughed. Chase had given Matias two boys, twins, Jeff and Graham. Jeff was blond and Graham was brunette. Little Graham Cracker, that’s what we affectionately call him around the camp.

“She looks just like you,” Andy said. “Can I touch her?”

“Go ahead,” I told him. Excited, he reached out and gently touched the fresh new skin on Rose’s cheek. She was so busy feeding she didn’t seem to notice or care. “I just love how smooth they feel when they’re new.”

“Like little warm, gooey fat balls,” Terry laughed. “I just want to squeeze them!”

Everyone chuckled and I heard a start from the corner and looked up to see Tyler’s eyes were open.

“Oh, look,” he said, rubbing sleep out of his eyes. “People.”

“We have some visitors,” I told him as he got to his feet and stretched.

“What are you doing sleeping?” Chris asked him. “Did you give birth today, too!?”

“Oh, take it easy on the big guy,” I said, leaning against Tyler’s leg as he came up beside me and stroked the back of my head with his hand. “He had to watch!”

“Oh, the horror!” Terry joked.

It was a room filled with warmth and love. I couldn’t ask for more.

“So, Tyler,” Chase said. “I guess this means you’re officially part of the pack now?”

“What, I wasn’t before?” he protested.

“Well…now it’s really official,” Chase replied. “Unless you’re going to be one of those dads that runs off on his kids.”

“Never,” Tyler said firmly, looking down at me with a smile. I pursed my lips, letting him know I needed to be kissed, and as always, he obliged and laid one on me.

“You guys are so happy it’s disgusting,” Carl laughed. “I don’t know whether to take a picture or throw up!”

“Oh, shush, Carl!” I replied. “I’ve never heard such a backhanded compliment in my entire life!”

Everyone laughed and I pulled my babies tighter against my chest. Rose was falling asleep on me, her grip on my nipple growing weaker as her head started to tilt back.

“Okay, I think the new one is going to need a nap now,” I told the crowd of admirers. “I think we’re going to have to say goodbye until another time.”

“No problem!” Patrick said quickly, ushering the omegas toward the door. “We just wanted to stop by and say hi! We’ll be back. Just let us know if you need anything!”

“Will do,” Tyler said for me, nodding to the omegas as they made their exit.

“Come here, baby,” I told him, scooting over slightly on the bed, doing my best not to disturb Rose. “Put Mira in his crib and come lay down with me.”

I handed Mira over to my mate, with a kiss on his forehead, and watched as Tyler carried him carefully around the bed and set him gently in his crib.

“You’re so good with him,” I told him as he returned to me, getting onto the bed at my side. “It makes me so happy to see you accept him like that. I mean…he’s not even yours – not really.”

“He’s yours,” Tyler said firmly. “And you are mine. That makes him mine too.”

“God, how did you ever get so sweet?”

“I’ve always been this way!” he laughed, laying his head on my thigh. “It just took you a while to realize it!”
