Corps Security in Hope Town: For You (Kindle Worlds Novella) by J.M. Walker (9)

HIS WORD. HIS unspoken truths. His knowledge of what I actually wanted whispered across my skin like a lover’s kiss. Coby Porter knew everything there was to know about me, and more. He reached into my chest, wrapped his hand around my heart, and squeezed until it beat for him. Every pump of blood that flowed through my veins was all because of this man sitting beside me, who was currently tapping his foot along to the beat of the music.

I knew us coming to Dirty Dog was only for me. Coby was more of a heavy metal guy. The louder and faster the bands played, the happier he was. But he compromised and took me to my first club anyway.

Opening the drink menu, my gaze landed on something about a lollipop drink that came with a dance. And that was when the music switched to “Lollipop” by Framing Henley. The crowd in the club went insane.

Coby chuckled beside me when the room erupted with screaming women. A couple of guys jumped up on the bars, stuck lollipops in their mouths and moved their bodies in ways I had only seen in my bedroom. The women standing before them practically melted at their feet.

“You need to learn that dance,” I told Coby, gripping his knee and digging my fingers into the bone.

“Do I now?” he kissed my cheek. “I’ll buy all the lollipops in the world if you want me to, little one.”

My heart hammered against my ribs but holy hell, if a dance came like that with every drink, these club owners would own the mother fucking world.

Once the air in the room simmered, the electric current of lust and arousal toned down a notch, and the music switched to something heavier. It didn’t ooze with sex like the song before it.

My body vibrated.

Coby laughed harder.

“What’s so damn funny?” I dug my fingers harder into his knee.

He grunted, grabbing my hand and linked our fingers before I broke his kneecap. “Nothing. It makes me wonder though if I’m not fucking you hard enough that these men are turning you on by a mere lollipop.”

I shook my head, my cheeks heating. “No. It’s not that.”

“No?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “What is it then?”

I chewed my bottom lip, my cheeks burning even more. God, I had never been embarrassed to say anything to Coby, but now, I felt like a shy little girl.

“Tell me,” he demanded, his hot breath washing over the side of my face.

“I want you to dance for me. Like that.”

Something flashed behind Coby’s eyes.

“Hey, sorry to interrupt.”

Both of us turned to the sound of a deep voice. The man looking down at us, who I recognized as one of the dancers, smiled. “You’re new in town.”

“How did you know?” I asked, placing the menu back on the table.

“Just a feeling,” the man’s smile grew. “Listen, I heard you’re military,” he said to Coby.

“I am.” Coby shifted beside me.

“The first round is on the house. If you don’t drink, then I’ll pay for your meal.” He stuck his hand out to Coby. “I’m Nate Reid. The owner.” He pointed behind him. “The other one who just finished dancing with the tattoos, is Shane. The other owner.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Coby returned the handshake. “Coby Porter and this is my fiancée, Brogan Tapp.”

“Congratulations.” He nodded once.

“You were at Corps Security the other day, I saw you walk out just as I was going in,” Coby said.

“I was. My father is the owner. I thought you looked familiar.”

“Ah yes. I met your dad. Axel. He’s been helping me find a reputable security company for my buildings in the city,” Coby explained.

“You’re in good hands,” Nate grinned. “Well I have to get back to work but I’m sure I’ll see you both around. Enjoy your evening.” And with that he walked away.

“Nice guy,” I said, a small smile pulling at my lips. “How did he know that you were military?”

Coby only shrugged before pulling me against him and brushing his nose up the length of my neck. “Maybe he talked to the bouncer,” he said, his lips against my skin.

I purred, leaning my head to the side to give him better access to my throat. Just when I thought he was going to kiss me, he slid out of the booth and held out his hand for me.

“Dance with me,” he demanded, his dark eyes holding a hint of amusement in them.

I tentatively placed my hand in his, letting him pull me out of the booth.

Coby led me to the dance floor. Much to my surprise, he spun me once before I slammed back against his hard body.

A gasp escaped me. The man who I thought could only move in the bedroom, was a master on the dance floor as well.

Holy fucking hell.
