Nic

“Hey, I’m home!”

The week and subsequent weekend with Kyle had been one of the best times in Nic’s life, but Monday always rolled around. He’d had to go to work to get a status update on the charity project and let his boss see him working.

After all, Greg didn’t care that he had a new boyfriend—sort of boyfriend, since they still hadn’t had the talk even after this week—living with him, and wanting to be in bed with him 24/7.

“Shouldn’t that be honey, I’m home?” Kyle’s cheerful face peeked out around the corner of the kitchen.

Nic smirked. “I don’t know. I haven’t seen what you’re making for dinner yet.”

“Oh, rude!” Kyle gasped. “My dinner is delicious, thank you.”

Nic let his gaze flicker up and down Kyle’s body. “I know it is.”

“Ohhh. Very rude.” Kyle jutted his hip out and leaned in the doorway, then flicked a tea towel at him. “Sit at the table for service, sir. Of the decent-for-company kind… first.”

Whatever he’d made, it did smell good. Something with tomato sauce and ground beef? Nic grinned his appreciation at both the food and the innuendo. “Mmmm. Casserole?”

Then, he stopped dead in the living room.

What?

It was… filled with boxes.

“Yep! I hope there’s no vegetables you hate,” Kyle cheerily went on, rattling at the cupboards to get out the plates. “I timed it perfectly! You’re just home now and it should be perfectly cool. Who’s a boss?”

Okay. Let’s see. Nic loosened his tie and blinked at the stacks of boxes lining one of the walls of his living room.

If there was one thing he’d learned in his job, it was the art of remaining calm in the face of disaster. If he could handle a table melting down and threatening to leak sensitive financial information to foreign hackers, he could handle a U-Haul moment.

He hadn’t thought Kyle was that serious about him.

“Oh! I hope you don’t mind.” Kyle paused between the kitchen and dining room with the plates, then started making quiet ooh! aah! noises and ran to the table to set them down. Apparently, they were hot.

Nic winced for him, unrooting his feet from the ground to casually head for the table. “Right, no. What…?”

“We’d been just ordering in supplies to the charity, these new brochures, and now that we don’t have a place… I had to call the shipping company and reroute them, and Denver was out of his house today, and…”

The relief that washed through Nic made him laugh, but not deeply. There was disappointment there, too. Whoa. That’s fast. Stop it. He shouldn’t be hoping for Kyle to move in right now!

“No, no. It’s all right. Just surprised me,” Nic told Kyle. “Dinner looks great.” He didn’t dare let on what the truth behind his surprise had been, but it took him a few minutes not to be on the edge of hysterical laughter.

After they were official, he was so going to tell Kyle the truth about this.

“How was your day at work? Stressful? Anything I can help you work out?” Kyle asked, batting his lashes and passing the salt.

Nic blushed as he took it, sprinkling it across his mashed potatoes. “Uh. As a matter of fact…” He’d almost forgotten, but since Kyle was asking, it popped back into mind. “Something weird happened today.”

“You got sent out on a job to this totally hot new client…” Kyle prompted.

Nic laughed richly. “No. The cops came by.”

“What?” Kyle blinked. “Why?”

“They were asking questions about money, who’s got it, and… I don’t know what else. They only asked me that.” Nic lifted his shoulders in a quick shrug. “I hope nobody’s been embezzling.”

“Why do you think it’s that?” Kyle dug into his casserole, casting him quick, concerned looks. “Are you going to be okay?”

“Oh, yeah. I’ll be fine. I’m only on this project—yours—right now,” Nic told him. “But other people are doing more sensitive financial work, and…”

“Ahhh,” Kyle murmured. “Right.”

“If the company gets busted doing anything… it affects us all. I don’t want to be under that cloud of suspicion, right?” Nic sighed.

Kyle nudged Nic’s foot with his own to draw his gaze. “I’m sure it’ll work out fine,” he assured him. “If someone’s screwing around, they’ll catch him—or her. Man. Evie didn’t tell me. I think she’s working at home today, though.”

“Yeah. So they wouldn’t be able to interview us all at once anyway.” The last thing Nic wanted was to be dragged in to talk to cops about anything. He was going to try to stay at home this week, if Greg let him.

“I hope it’s important, whatever it is,” Kyle grumbled.

“Important enough for four of them.”

“Four?” Kyle exclaimed. “They could be doing things like… solving arson cases…”

Nic gave him a quick, sympathetic look. “I think that’s a different department.”

In fact, he was sure of it. Still, he couldn’t blame Kyle for bringing it up. He had been on edge for the last week, waiting to hear back. Nothing definitive yet. And they hadn’t even caught the guys who assaulted Denver.

No wonder the poor guy looked on edge right now. No more cop talk.

Nic changed the subject and murmured, “So, about dessert…?”

“I didn’t—ohhh. I have dessert prepared,” Kyle swiftly changed course mid-sentence.

Nic laughed. “Smooth.”

“Yes, it is. Usually. It can be rough if you like.”

“Mmm.” Nic just about lost his appetite, but his stomach growled. If they were going to have energy for tonight, he had to eat. He squirmed in his chair and stretched out his leg to let his feet play against Kyle’s. “Long day alone?”

“So long,” Kyle groaned. “I hope they call me back and let me start work again soon.”

“You must have so much pent-up energy.”

“So much.”

“Mm.” Nic winked, then went silent until he finished his casserole. It took all his focus to eat and play footsie with Kyle.

By the time they were both done, neither of them even made a move for the dishes. Kyle grabbed Nic’s hand and towed him toward the bedroom.

Nic slipped his hand out of Kyle’s so he could grab his ass instead and bumped shoulders playfully. “Great minds.”

“Oh, you have a great mind. And body. And cock…” Kyle trailed off, his voice dropping a pitch.

Nic couldn’t hit the bed and strip Kyle fast enough.

Minutes later, gasping and writhing atop Kyle, thrusting his hips down into his mouth while swallowing Kyle’s cock to the base, it struck him for the hundredth time that week how fucking perfect this arrangement was.

There was one catch: Kyle hadn’t followed up on the makeup thing, and Nic had been carefully not mentioning it. And if he expected Nic to be as loud and open as he was

Well, Nic didn’t have to worry about that yet.

He was too busy grinding into Kyle’s lips, flinching at every flick of Kyle’s tongue dragging across the underside of his dick, moaning around the fullness in his mouth.

Kyle finally panted across his wet cock, “Nic! Baby, I’m gonna come!” His lips were shaky as he pressed open-mouthed kisses against Nic’s dick.

As Nic swallowed the thick, warm passion, his only wish was that he could see every second of pleasure on Kyle’s face. Sucking each other off at once had that disadvantage.

A few seconds later, when Kyle’s cock started to soften and his lips closed around Nic’s manhood again, his body reminded him of the more pressing need: another of the best orgasms he’d ever had.

“Yes…!” Nic whimpered. He pressed his cheek against Kyle’s thigh as he fucked his mouth, fucked his lips a few more times, and then… glorious release. The room spun, his cock pulsed and jerked, his stomach tightened, every muscle trembled… and his brain whirled through crazy thoughts.

Chief of which was: Whatever this is, I never want it to stop. It was a thought scarily close to the one he wasn’t ready for.

Nic let it slip out of his mind as he rolled off Kyle and caught his breath. “Oh, God.”

Kyle slowly rolled and turned until he faced the right way, then cuddled up against him, pulling him in with a quick, rough jerk against him.

Nic squeaked, then laughed. “Hey.”

Kyle playfully growled, “I hope you saved room for dessert.”

“Wasn’t that…?” Nic grinned.

“That was just the appetizer.”

Nic pressed into Kyle’s body and closed his eyes. “Oh, yeah. Bring on the entrée, baby.”

Kyle kissed the side of his neck. “My thoughts exactly.”

How fucking perfect can he be? There has to be a catch.

But, as Kyle’s lips pressed against the sensitive spot just above one nipple, Nic’s toes curled into the bed and he grunted a quick gasp.

Yeah, he was perfectly willing to cross that bridge when they got to it. Someday, but not today.

Today, judging by the flare of heat as Kyle’s wet tongue pressed against his nipple and the oversensitive throb of his dick in response, Kyle was going to drive him out of his goddamn mind.

And for him, Nic was willing to let everything go.
