CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

Jai felt her pull back a little and stopped kissing her like his very life depended on it. “Slow down?” he asked, and she frowned.

“Why?”

“Speed up?” He offered her a devilish grin.

“I was thinking there was a bed around here somewhere that…” she shrieked as the world flew around her. One moment there was a hard wall, and the next – the luxurious feel of a soft mattress beneath her body. “That’s where it was.” She giggled.

“Aren’t you lucky I’m not one of those men that can’t follow directions from a woman?” He offered her a teasing grin, but that grin was also full of promise.

“Well, now that you’ve enacted your dastardly plan…”

“I had a dastardly plan?”

“I’m disappointed – I thought all vampires had a dastardly plan…”

“Ohhhh, that dastardly plan.” He nodded.

“And now that you have enacted your dastardly plan,” she said again, her eyes flashing with mischief, amusement, and excitement. “And you’ve got me right where you want me…”

“Hmm, I’m a bad, bad vampire,” he teased.

“What are you going to do to me?”

“With you, sweetheart, always – with you, and for you, but definitely with you.”

Oh, those words were definitely full of promise that she hoped to heck and back that his body could back up. Jai lifted his hand, flicked out one razor-shape talon and questioned her with a smile.

Emily was trying to hold her breath as he started at the top of the sheet between her heaving breasts and sliced the sheet downwards, but she just couldn’t. It was too exciting by far, and she was swept away in the moment.

She felt the quick, sharp sting of a small scratch to her skin, and her eyes flicked to his dark gaze. “Whoops,” he said and waited for her response.

His eyes were jet black, and his nose was all but twitching at the scent of her blood. Emily felt the rush of power that she held over him, over them in that moment in time and it was heady.

“You did that on purpose.”

“Would never,” he didn’t look too convincing in his protests. “But, I could get that for you…”

“Tend my wound?”

“Heal your skin…”

“With your tongue.”

“Tease,” he grinned, and they were back – fangs – but this time, they were all the way down and locked in place.

And this time – it didn’t bother her one little bit. “Better have at it then before it heals itself.” she offered him a wicked, wicked grin.

Jai didn’t need telling twice. The scent of her blood was like a red rag to a bull, and he knew that he needed to control himself – control the urge to sink his fangs into her body once he’d got a taste for her blood.

He moved down her body and opened the slit in the sheet just a little, just enough to see the light scratch that had bled on the gentle swell of her stomach, and his blood fired with a fever like lava.

He leaned in and savored the seconds before he had the taste of her. Then he ran his tongue over the wound and savoured that taste.

Just the feel of his wet tongue against her skin sent shivers through her body, but it wasn’t fear, it was longing for more mixed with the excitement of knowing what came next.

Jai felt that bloodlust rise up to fever point within him like a rush of something dark that he knew he needed to batter back down.

“More,” Emily’s words hit him like a ton of bricks.

Suddenly, that fever broke, and his mind, body, and soul were free of it. He fisted the sheet in both hands and ripped it apart. His hands were on her hot body a heartbeat later, and so was his tongue.

He wanted to know every inch of her, over and over, and consign it to memory, and he took his own sweet time in starting that exploration before she had other ideas.

Just as his fever had been chased off by his mate’s need for him, so her fever had begun, and it was an entirely different need from the one he’d had.

Jai knew exactly what she needed, and he planned to take her there. He tasted and teased her sex on his tongue until she was almost at the point of no return, and then he chuckled at the sound of her dark curses as he climbed up the bed, over her body, and trapped her beneath the cage of his hard body.

“Now who’s the tease?” she breathed out, feeling the loss of what could have been if he’d just given her a few more seconds to find her happily ever after.

“Oh, trust me, my love, there’s a method in my madness,” he grinned, and she made a small grumble in the back of her throat that died the moment he pushed his hard length inside of her needy channel.

“Tease me again, and I’ll drop a house on you,” she warned him, as he took her to the hilt and her head went back against the bed and opened her neck for his viewing pleasure.

“Trust me,” he whispered against her ear as he pulled back and buried his length to the hilt once more, and the friction made her moan on each deep stroke.

“Without question, until you cross me,” she said.

“Never going to happen,” he promised before he ran his tongue down the vein in her neck and he held onto the need to bury his fangs deep and taste her once more.

“Feed then,” Emily bayed him on with her hand against his head, her fingers getting lost in his hair as she lost herself in the rhythm of their entwined bodies together as one.

Jai lifted her upper body from the bed and locked her in his embrace. His other hand fisted in her hair, making sure that she couldn’t pull away from him.

He felt her inner muscle tighten around his length and then his fangs sliced deep into her vein and her blood spilled over his tongue. He heard her faint cry as the pain went through her, and then the moan that caught in the back of her throat the moment that he took that first draw on her blood.

Waves of pure pleasure like nothing she had ever know flowed through every inch of her body and each one started as he drew on her vein. It was like an orchestra building towards that final crescendo and timed perfectly with every trust of his length inside of her.

Emily was lost, never to be found again, never to escape those moments even if her life had depended upon it. The intensity of pleasure reached higher and higher until finally it burst to life and exploded with such an intensity that she thought she might go mad.

Over and over the tsunami lashed through her body – one explosion led to another and another until she felt his fangs release her and his body join hers in ecstasy.

Jai had never experienced anything in his five hundred years that could even come close to what he’d just shared with his mate. He rolled them onto their sides on the bed, his forehead resting against hers as he kept her in the safety of his arms and listened to her heart and her breathing as she slowly came back to him.

His mate – the love of his very long life – in his life – finally in his arms, and his forever.

Now, all he had to do was talk the wicked little witch into giving up her magic and joining him as a vampire – and then it truly would be – forever.
