Hollywood Dreams (Hollywood Hopeful Book 1) by Molly O'Hare (24)

Chapter Twenty-Four

Trevor sat impatiently as he waited for Maggie to come out from the bedroom. As soon as the team he’d hired showed up, they’d whisked her away and shut him and Pocket out of the room. He’d been ready to go to the premiere for at least an hour now. And, there was no telling how much longer Maggie was going to take. He absentmindedly reached out to pet Pocket on the back of his head. Instantly, he was rewarded the only way Pocket knew how.

“Damn it,” Trevor said, pulling his hand away to look at the damage. “You better be glad I love your mom so much or you’d be outside before you could do that creepy ass blink.”

“Are you fighting with Pocket again?” Oh shit, had she heard?

Trevor shot his head to her. He froze. It didn’t matter if she heard, because there in front of him, Maggie stood in all her glory. She was beautiful in her everyday clothes, but this… this was off the charts. She was in a skin-tight forest green dress. It showed off an hourglass figure, that should have been illegal. Her hair was in loose waves, pushed all to one side. Her makeup was classic Hollywood pinup. As she moved closer to him, he saw the pendant around her neck. His heart stopped.

He loved this woman.

He really loved her. He breathed deep trying to remember how to speak. He loved everything about her. His body was more alive than ever before. All he wanted to do was throw her over his shoulder, toss her onto the nearest flat surface and rip that dress off of her.

“Pocket got your tongue?”

Her voice jarred him out of his thought. A thought he wanted to relive over and over again. Clearing his throat, he spoke, “You look so beautiful.”

Her smile was wider than he’d ever seen. He looked her up and down again. This time stopping at her feet, and burst out laughing.

“Hey,” she said before slapping his arm.

“Only you would wear forest green flats,” he chuckled before pulling her into his arms.

“They wouldn’t let me where my converse, so flats were the compromise.”

He shook his head. “You’re perfect.”

Maggie sat nervously next to Trevor in the back of the limousine. This was it. The second they stepped out of the vehicle the whole world would know they were together. This could be career suicide for him. Looking at him, she felt her reservations come back full force. “Are you sure about this, Trevor?”

Cocking his head to look at her, he asked, “Sure about what?”

“This.”

His eyes sparkled. “I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.” He reached for her hand before squeezing it. It instantly calmed her. If he wanted this, then who was she to stop him. She sat back in her seat, as she brought his hand to her chest. “It’s your funeral.”

“Why you little…” he said before, jumping on top of her. He kissed her like she’d never been kissed before.

Before they knew it, their driver had announced their arrival. Pushing Trevor off of herself, she did her best to fix her hair. “Oh, shoot, do I look okay?”

“You look so good I could fuck you right here in front of everyone.”

“Trevor,” she warned. “I’m being serious.”

“Me too.”

She growled at him. “Did you mess up my hair or makeup while you took it upon yourself to grope me?”

He smirked while her eyes narrowed. “Trevor.”

“You look fine, baby.” He reached for her hand before grabbing the door handle. “Are you ready for this?”

Maggie looked past him. She could see all the people waiting. Their cameras at the ready. Was she ready for this? She felt Trevor squeeze her hand again. “I’m as ready as I’ll ever be,” she finally said.

Once they were out of the limo, instantly the bright flashes were all around them. Voices were on top of one another. “Trevor, who’s she?” “Trevor, over here!” “Who’s on your arm tonight? She looks a little different than your normal type.” “Trevor, is she your latest bed bunny?”

The voices all started to meld together. She could feel her palms start to sweat as her insides quaked. Why the hell had she decided to do this?

“She’s kinda fat…”

“Excuse me?” Trevor abruptly stopped causing Maggie to fall into him. Oh no! Universe, do not do this to me!

“What did you say?” Trevor repeated looking directly at the paparazzi that had spoken.

“Nothin’ man. Just stating the obvious.”

Trevor cocked his head to the side as if to say, oh really? “Good to know. Stating and doing the obvious is what I’m all about.” He reached out and grabbed the guys camera before smashing it onto the ground. He then turned to someone behind them. “Get the guy a new camera one model better than this one. But, before you give it to him, make sure he understands if he ever fucking says shit about her again that camera will be shoved up his ass.” With that, Trevor stated walking again pulling Maggie along.

She was mortified.

Trevor leaned into her. “Don’t worry about them. Pay them no attention.”

She stared at him shocked. “Are you fucking kidding me? Trevor, you just destroyed that guy’s camera and then threated him in front of everyone. And all for what? Because he said something about me? News flash, Trevor that happens on an everyday basis to me?”

“It fucking does?” He stopped walking and turned toward her. “Who the fuck says anything about you. Tell me their names now and I will end them.”

“Oh for the love of-”

“Tell me, Maggie. No one disrespects you and lives to see another day.”

Maggie rolled her eyes, but inside she was screaming for joy. Not only did he take her to the premiere, he publicly stood up for her. What a stupid man. But, he was her stupid man. “Don’t get your panties in a twist,” she said trying to defuse the situation. “Let’s just get inside and go find Danny and Lexi.”

Trevor eyed her. “This isn’t over.”

“No,” she agreed. “It’s not. But, for right now it is. Plus, I just want to get inside, watch the film and head to the after party, then go.”

“And, here I thought you never wanted to party.” He leaned in before kissing her. She could hear the camera shutters all around her.

Well, if you can’t beat them, might as well join them. She pulled Trevor by his suit jacket and kissed him with all her might.

The movie was phenomenal. Maggie was so proud of Trevor and all he’d done. He brought his character to life. It was one of the reasons everyone wanted to work with him in Hollywood. And, then there was watching herself on the big screen. When her part came on, she could swear her heart had stopped. She was able to relive every moment and she loved it. This was the reason she wanted to become an actor, to begin with.

She was on the edge of her seat the whole time as she watched the movie. Sure, she’d hear some comments here and there about her and Trevor, but when she looked back at Trevor, his eyes were never on the screen. Instead, they were on her.

She held his hand tightly as they walked into the reception. Sure, all eyes were on them and there was an endless amount of questions being flung at them. But, somehow, Lexi and Danny had taken it upon themselves to intervene and block all of them.

Maggie laughed as she watched a press agent make a beeline towards her and Trevor. Before Maggie could open her mouth, Lexi was there, throwing her arm over the press agent’s shoulders and steering them away.

Tomorrow she was sending Lexi and Danny a candy basket!

Trevor pulled her into his side as they made their way over to Matt. “Matt,” Trevor said.

Maggie smiled, as they stood next to him. She was so overjoyed with how the night had turned out. It was perfect.

“Hey, you two. Seems as though you both are the talk of the town,” Matt laughed.

“Let’em,” Trevor remarked before he reached to grab a stuffed mushroom off Matt’s plate.

“Hey!” Matt pulled his plate from Trevor grasp causing Maggie to laugh. With one quick maneuver, Trevor was able to steal the morsel and plop it into his mouth.

“Jerk,” Matt said before placing his plate far away from Trevor. Matt quickly scanned the party then nodded in the direction of the refreshments. “What do you think is going on between those two?”

Maggie glanced to where Matt was referring too. Her curiosity getting the better of her. She saw Danny with his arm wrapped around Lexi’s shoulders.

“They’ll get there,” Trevor said.

“You think so?” Matt asked.

“I do,” Maggie chimed in, beaming as she looked at her two best friends. She truly believed they would.

Removing her gaze from her friends she looked back at Trevor. This night had been perfect. Even though she was being stared at more than she’d ever been in her life, nothing could ruin it. Not even the thought of the trash magazines and what they were going to say tomorrow.

Sighing she put her arm around Trevor’s waist. Looking at him, she realized he’d been staring at her. His eyes gleaming with joy. “You looked beautiful on the big screen,” he spoke intimately so only she could hear.

Her heart swelled.

“You’ve got a strong career ahead of you.”

“I agree,” Matt said. “I actually wanted to talk to you about this role I think would be perfect for you.” Her eyes widened.

Yup, tonight was perfect. Nothing could mess it up.

“Trevor, baby,” she heard a sultry voice from behind her. Turning to the voice she came face to face with the one woman she never wanted to see again. Within seconds, Maggie was thrust back to that first day she’d met Trevor when she walked in on him and this woman.

“Baby,” she said again finally getting Trevor’s attention.

Trevor turned. His face paled for a brief second. “Fuck me.”
