Major Conflict (Southern Chaotic's MC Book 2) by Dana Arden (11)

Chapter 12

Lily

This day couldn’t have been better, maybe not having to go to work, but my new sidekick helps. Toby took me to work where Spook’s manning the door. Chase will be in after Jake goes to bed.

I don’t remember a time in my life where a man has shown me so much affection. My dad was the only man that hugged and kissed me without holding back and now, Chase has slipped into that role. David’s affections were robotic. They were expected; a touch here, a kiss there, but never constant. Never dreading having to let me go like Chase does.

Bringing myself back to the here and now, the bar’s packed for a Monday. Sadie’s behind the bar and my new best friend, Ginger’s on stage.

Since coming in, she’s been up my ass if she isn’t on the stage, asking me questions about Chase and me. It’s getting annoying. For every answer I give her, she ends with ‘when Chase and I’ or ‘I remember when he’d.’ I just nod my head and let it roll off my back because before yesterday, Chase wasn’t anything to me other than a man who fucked what he wanted and dissed me at every turn. I’m trying really hard to keep my cool, but the thread’s wearing thin.

“Jesus, Sadie. Can I have a shot of vodka? I’m this close,” with my index finger and thumb about an inch apart, “to kicking her in the head.”

Sadie laughs. “She’s definitely full of herself tonight. This is the most I’ve seen her at the bar during her shift since she’s been here. Just watch yourself. She could be egging you on to get a response.”

“You’re probably right, but when is enough, enough. I’m not ignorant. I know and have seen her and Chase together, but he said he set her straight, so there’s no need for us to be buddy-buddy.”

“I don’t know. This side of her is new to me too. She used to just come in, do her thing and leave. Now, she’s hanging around at the front of the house too much. If Dani was here, she’d set her ass right.”

“Hopefully, the rest of the night won’t be as titillating. Maybe one of the other brothers will catch her eye and she can fondle and fawn over them, and not Chase.” I turn on that note to go check on my tables.

The next hour is uneventful. I take care of my tables along with the MC brothers and Ginger has kept to herself. Thank God. I’m bullshitting with Razz at the bar when two strong arms wrap around me and I’m pulled into a hard chest.

“Hey, Babe.” Chase growls in my ear. “How’s your night going?”

I turn in his arms and place my forearms on his shoulders as I intertwine my fingers in his hair. “Better now, hun. Did Jake go to bed fine? He was hyper when I left.”

“Yeah, he wanted me to wake him up when you got home, but I told him he’d see ya in the morning for breakfast.”

I lean up and place a soft peck on his lips. “Good. Things have been alright here. Ginger spent the better half of two hours bombarding me with questions about us and then her synopsis of your relationship with her.” He starts to pull away from me, but I hold tight. “Stop, I didn’t pay her any mind and once she realized she wasn’t going to get the reaction she wanted, she went away.”

“I’m sorry, Babe.”

“No need. We’re good, but I’ve got to get back to work. You want a beer? I can get it and bring it to the table with the boys.”

“Sure, give me a Bud draft.” He presses his lips to mine and slowly devours my mouth, while massaging his tongue with mine. When he steps back, I’m breathless and a little unsteady on my feet. “I can’t wait to get you home tonight.”

“Me either.” I murmur.

Chase

Watching Lily walk out of the door earlier tonight to come to work made me want to tie her up to my bed and never let her leave. Not knowing where or what her ex has planned is frustrating at best. I trust my brothers to watch out for her while I’m not around, but I didn’t think I’d ever get to the bar tonight.

First, Jake wanted to talk about Lily instead of letting me put him to bed. Then, he cried because I wouldn’t wake him up at two in the morning when we would be getting home. Finally, I lay beside him in the cramped bunk bed that he shares with Tate and put it all out for him. I told him I would never take Lily from him again and that he’d have plenty of time with her in the morning at breakfast before he went to school. He was out like a light ten minutes later.

At the moment, I’m enjoying the view of my woman sauntering around the bar taking care of customers and my brothers. She, truly, doesn’t realize how stunning she is in her short white jean shorts and tight teal tank top with Dani’s written across my tits in purple. To top it all off, she’s wearing another pair of strappy high-heeled sandals, except they’re purple. Fuck, I can’t wait to get her ass home.

I haven’t even glanced at the stage since Ginger took it. I’ve got no intention to either even with my brothers riding my ass about the looks she’s giving me while she touches herself. She has proved to be exactly what I thought she wasn’t, a clingy patch-whore.

After sitting in this damn chair for a good two hours, I’ve lost sight of Lily. “Hey, ya’ll know where Lily went off to?” I ask my brothers.

“Yeah, she went down the hall towards the bathrooms.” Trigger answers me.

“Thanks.” I grunt as I get out of my seat and head in that direction.

I’m almost to the bathroom door when I hear yelling and then a loud thud. I open the door to Ginger sprawled out on the floor holding her face.

“What the fuck’s going on in here?” I roar as I look from Lily whose face is beet red to Ginger who’s making no attempt to get off the floor, but seems to have started crying since I showed up.

“Chase…” Ginger whines. “She hit me for no reason. See what you’re getting involved with and allowing around Jake. She isn’t as great as all of ya’ll think. I was just trying to wash my hands after I fixed my makeup and she blindsided me.”

I turn to Lily. “That true, Babe?”

“If you want to believe it go for it, but I’ll not have you’re used up, two-bite whores confronting me everytime I turn around. I came in here to take a ten, go to the bathroom and freshen up. Go ask Sadie. When I was done washing my hands, she came in and blocked the door so I couldn’t leave.”

“Ginger, what the fuck do I have to say or do for you to back the fuck off us? I told you last night Lily’s mine and I’m not creeping on her. Keep this shit up and your ass will be out on the street just like Jolene. You’ve been around the club long enough to know that you don’t fuck with a brother’s woman.”

“But she hit me, Chase for no reason.” Ginger cries.

Lily turns her arms from side to side and I see the scratches and bruises that are beginning to appear. “This is no reason. Bitch, I told you to let me through, but all you did was stay in place and when I tried to move you, you grabbed my arms digging your fingernails into my skin. Sorry you thought I was a meek woman. If you ever put your hands on me again, it’ll be worse than a punch to the face. Get me!” Lily yells and then walks under my arms where I’m holding open the door.

“Ginger, I suggest you recognize that you are treading on thin ice. One more wrong move and your ass is going to freeze to death and no one will help you. You might already have broken the ice once the brothers get word of what you just fucking did.” I turn letting the door slam closed behind me and head to the bar to find Lily with her head down and Toby beside her checking out her arm.

“Toby, I got this. Go get Ginger out of the bathroom and escort her out for the night.” He gives me a chin lift and goes and takes care of business.

“Babe.” I whisper close to her ear as I sit in the barstool next to where she’s standing and bring her in between my legs. “You good?” She nods. “What’d she say?”

She places her head on my chest. “Nothing really, she just wouldn’t move and was taunting me with you eventually leaving me to come explore her pussy again. She was just being a cunt. God, I hate saying that word, but that’s what she was acting like. I didn’t put my hands on her until she touched me first and by then, I’d had enough.”

“I don’t want this eating at you, Lil. She’s just jealous that she wasn’t able to tame me and you did it without having to try.”

“Yeah, I guess, but shit, Chase. Do I have to deal with this at every turn? Do I have to defend myself from the rest of the club whores?”

“Babe, once they hear you punched Ginger out, they’ll lay off. Most of them are more worried about their appearance than getting the D and staking claim.”

She giggles. “Let’s hope so.”
