Major Conflict (Southern Chaotic's MC Book 2) by Dana Arden (14)

Chapter 16

Lily

I’ve been beckoned to the clubhouse by Rudy to discuss the situation with David further. I’m plastered against Chase’s back with my arms wrapped tightly around his waist. There’s no better feeling than fresh air blasting your face and your hair blowing free. Free, that’s what I feel, but it’s only momentary.

As we pull in the parking lot, I notice additional bikes as well as a red pickup I’m not familiar with.

Throwing my leg over Chase’s seat and taking off my helmet, I ask. “Whose pickup is that?” I point to the corner of the lot.

“No clue, Babe. Guess we’ll find out shortly.”

As we enter the door into the main room, there are four men at a table; three in kuttes and one dressed in regular street clothes. As we approach, Rudy stands.

“Lil,” he waves his hand towards the blonde in the corner in street clothes, “this is Mace Bowen. His sister, Claudia, was the young lady that David took advantage of.”

I turn to face Mace. “I’m sorry for what he did to your sister.”

“It’s not your fault and I apologize for thinking you were still involved with him.” I feel Chase stiffen next to me.

I squeeze Chase’s hand in mine. “Well, it still isn’t right. Hopefully, the club’ll get a lead on him soon and she can have a sense of peace.” Mace nods.

“Let’s take this into the meeting room.” Rudy says as he stands.

Once in Church and after all of us are seated, one of the men in kuttes stares me in the eyes.

“Lily, you might not remember me, but I came to check on your mom a few times in Florida. I’m Sandman.”

I take him in. Dark hair with sprinkles of gray, sparkling blue eyes with laugh lines. He’s probably in his mid-fifties, but is built like a brick shithouse. As I continue to peruse, I notice a star tattoo on the side of his neck and remember seeing him sitting on the porch with my mom a few times when I’d come home from school.

“Sandy?” He nods. “It’s good to see you again, wish it was under better circumstances.”

“Yeah, Lil, but we’ll get this sorted out. Don’t you worry your pretty little head.” With nothing left to say, I just nod.

“Alright, gentlemen. How ‘bout ya’ll fill Lil and Chase in?”

We spend the next hour running through the information Mace has with what the club has been able to find out. Even with new information, we still don’t have anything that’ll help us pinpoint his location. He’s either using cash or prepaid credit cards and his cell phone has been disconnected.

As we’re leaving Church, Professor stops me. “He’ll fuck up, Lily. He’ll get impatient and do something stupid.”

“I hope you’re right. I’m tired of looking over my shoulder.” I whisper. He squeezes my shoulder and heads down the hall.

When we enter the main room, the new arrivals are getting special attention from the club whores and Ginger. She seems to just appear any time Chase and I are together. She’s attached herself to Roadie, Florida’s Prospect. She probably thinks that a Prospect would be stupid enough to make her his ol’ lady, but what she doesn’t get is that the club protects their own and they drill it into the Prospects about patch-whores who only want them for what their kutte stands for; power and protection.

While Ginger’s purring in Roadie’s ear and grinding against him, her eyes are on Chase, but he either doesn’t notice or doesn’t give a shit. When she realizes he isn’t responding to her show, she scoots off the Prospect’s lap and walks our way.

“Chase,” she coos. “How’re you doing, baby?” She reaches towards his forearm, but I stop her progress by stepping in front of him.

“Ginger.” I growl. “I thought you were a lot smarter than this, but apparently, you head’s full of rocks. What can we help you with?”

“We? Well, you can’t help me with anything, but Chase can help me with a lot. See my pussy’s been aching for a hard ride on his boom stick.”

Before she can continue, I throw an upper cut and she stumbles backwards. As I advance on her, Chase grabs me around the waist hauling me back. “That’s enough, Babe. I don’t need you breaking a nail over a whore. Rumor has it that she’s been riding plenty of boom stick.” He sets me behind him and steps closer to Ginger.

“She’s bad news, Chase. Look what she did to my lip.” Ginger whines.

“I see what she did and I’m sure it hurts, huh. But I also remember telling you one more time you came near us it’d be your last.” Her eyes widen. “Benny, do me the honor of taking out the trash.”

Benny has a sadistic smile on his face. “It’d be a privilege.” Benny takes Ginger by the arm and starts dragging her out of the clubhouse, but before he can go, Rudy steps in front of them.

“Let it be known that Ginger will no longer have permission to enter the clubhouse accompanied or not. She also no longer has a job at Dani’s. Ginger, I’m glad you showed your true colors. Get going and don’t come back.” Rudy bellows. Tears stream down Ginger’s face, but I don’t feel sorry for her at all.

The men hoot and holler as she’s escorted out. I can only imagine that they’re happy to get rid of the crazy as much as I am.
