No Good (Good Intentions Book 1) by Kayla Carson (14)

Chapter 14

The last time I spent an entire day in bed I was a teenager. Zoe and I had managed to fuck, and sleep the day away, and by eight PM we were both starving. I decided to cook her dinner, since breakfast had obviously been ruined. So while she showered, I ran downstairs to the kitchen. I had a thawed out package of chicken, so I tossed it into a frying pan with some olive oil, and other spices. I scanned my pantry for a side dish, finding a package of minute rice. It wasn't perfect, but it would do.

I had just plated our food, when Zoe rounded the corner wearing one of my tee shirts. “I hope you don't mind.” She said, tucking a strand of her damp hair behind her ear.

“Don't mind at all.” I said, cocking my head to admire her perfect ass.

She laughed, playfully swatting me in the chest. I grabbed her hand, pulling her towards me, and pressed a quick kiss on her lips. “Dinner's ready.” I said huskily, as I pulled away grabbing the plates I'd prepared, and heading out into the living room.

“I know it isn't ideal, but I thought we could eat out here.” I said setting the plates on the hearth of the fire place, before grabbing the throw from the back of the only piece of furniture in my living room, an old rocking chair. I laid the throw down on the hard wood, an indoor picnic if you will. I watched as Zoe took her seat, crossing her legs Indian style on the soft blanket. It was too warm to light the fire place just yet, but seeing her sitting there, relaxed in my tee shirt brought a smile to lips. “One more thing.” I said, heading back to the kitchen for drinks.

When I returned, it was to her chewing, with her eyes closed. A little moan escaped her lips, and I felt my cock twitch against my boxer briefs. I quietly sat down across from her her placing a beer in front of each of us. It wasn't wine, but something told me Zoe Cruz wasn't a wine kind of girl.

“I'm sorry, I couldn't wait.” She said, around a mouth full of rice. “Sex can really wear a girl out.” She teased, taking a swig of her beer.

“I don't know what I'm doing with you.” I said on a sigh.

“You can be such a bad ass Wes Granger, but sometimes, I swear I see a side of you that you keep trying to hide. You want this to work? You want us to really be together? Then you need to stop. No more second guessing. No more what ifs. Just man up, and to hell with everyone else.”

“Even Jake?”

“Especially Jake. We've known each other for six years, and I know the attraction was never there on your part, but I'm willing to admit that I've always had a thing for you. It's why I pushed so hard for this. I've seen the real you. Not the person that Jake knows.”

“You were always off  limits. You still are.” I said, draining the rest of my beer.

“That's not what you were saying an hour ago soldier.” She teased, shooting me a wink.

“Alright Babydoll, so how do we handle this?” I asked pointing back and forth between the two of us.

“We go out.” She said, as if it were the simplest thing in the world, before popping a piece of chicken into her mouth.

“Go out?” I asked with a smile, arching a brow.

“Yep. Tomorrow you're taking me to the beach.” She said matter of factly.

“And tonight? Am I taking you home?” I asked, my voice getting low.

She licked her lips, pulling at the hem of my tee shirt to cover her exposed knees. “It's late.. and since I'm your girlfriend now.. I think I'll just stay here with you.”

“Girlfriend?” I asked, moving our beers, and crawling towards her. “I never agreed to that.” I whispered teasingly, inches away from her lips.

“Oh no?” She asked innocently, her lips brushing mine. “Did I imagine you claiming me this morning while I sat on your kitchen counter?

I laughed, using my weight to gently ease her to her back, pinning her beneath me. I started doing push ups over her body, and she fell into a fit of giggles. I kissed her every time I went down, and after five or so, her arms wrapped around my neck, pulling me flush against her. It didn't matter that we'd spent the entire day in bed, I couldn't get enough of her, and the feeling seemed to be mutual. Her legs wrapped around my waist, and as fast as I'd laid her down, I stood us both up, and carried her up the stairs to my bedroom, never breaking our kiss.

*************

I woke the next morning to the sound of my phone going off. It wasn't my ringtone though, it was skype. I immediately knew who was on the other end of the call, and glancing to my left, I found Zoe still asleep beside me. I slipped out of bed as quietly as I could, and went into my master bath shutting the door behind me. When I pressed the answer button, Jake's face came into view, and my heart hammered fast in my chest. I was sitting on the damn toilet, naked as a fucking jay bird, about to skype with my best friend, while his baby sister was alseep, just as naked, in my bed.

“Hey man!” I said plastering on a smile, that I hoped he thought was genuine.

“Hey where are you? Is that the new place?” Jake asked with enthusiasm.

“Yea, uh the bathroom anyway. You caught me just getting out of the shower.”

“I only have a few minutes anyway. Have you talked to Zoe? I tried skyping her early this morning, but I think her phone's off.”

“Ya know what, I'll take a drive by the house later, I wanted to drop off the extra house key anyway.”

“Thanks man, I owe you. I know you didn't sign up to be my kid sister's babysitter while I was away.”

“It's really no trouble Jake.” I said, just as the bathroom door creaked open.

“You got someone there with you?” Jake asked, raising his eyebrows. “Didn't take you long.” He joked, making Zoe roll her eyes, before slipping back into the bedroom and giving me some privacy.

“Long story man, I'll tell you when you get home.” I said, before disconnecting our call.

I was instantly flooded with guilt, and leaving the bathroom, and crawling back into bed with Zoe did nothing to assuage it. I wanted to tell him the truth, but I wanted to tell him in person. I knew it would most likely lead to a knock down, drag out fight, but it was the right thing to do. Zoe curled into the side of my body, fitting like a glove, and I couldn't help but smile.

“You still want to go to the beach today Babydoll?” I asked, rubbing my hand down her back, and cupping her ass.

“Mmm.” She replied, rubbing against me like a cat. “I need to go home and change my clothes, and grab a suit. You wanna come with? Or just meet me later?”

“I'll meet you for lunch. There's something I have to take care of first.” I said, pressing my lips to the top of her head.

“What kind of something?” She asked, her curiousity getting the better of her.

“Cole.” I said, as if that were all the explanation she needed, and in a way it was. I had told her bits and pieces about what Cole meant to me, and some of the trouble he was going through. I couldn't shake the feeling that the five grand I loaned him was for anything good. “I won't be able to focus all on you, until I figure out what the hell's going on with that kid.” I added, hoping she understood.

“Okay soldier.” She sighed, brushing her hand over my chest. “Meet me at the little tiki hut around noon.”
