RIDE by Nellie Christine (24)

Kit didn’t expect the week to fly by, but it did. This was perfect, because it seemed like every other moment he was thinking about seeing Bentley again. As hard as he tried to focus in class, he couldn’t stop thinking about how good it felt when Bentley held him. At work, he couldn’t stop sneaking peeks at the photo strip they took during their date, remembering how it felt to kiss him. After their phone calls at night, he couldn’t help but wonder if Bentley was playing around with him or being serious about the flirty things he’d say. Kit’s mind would begin to wander, and then he’d have to make himself think about something else.

But tonight was the night he’d see Bentley again. He and Noah arranged to invite Bentley and Jonah to watch John Wick. The week was almost over – Bentley had his meeting with Red Bull which went well, and all Kit had left to do was work on his piece for the fashion club. They’d be able to kick back, relax, and enjoy each other’s company.

And kiss. Kit was looking forward to kissing him again.

Noah stormed into the dorm room around seven that night with a bunch of sodas. He sent Kit a head nod as he lined the desk with the beverages.

“I stole these from the cafeteria.”

Kit playfully rolled his eyes. “I can see the receipt hanging from your pocket.”

Noah laughed. “Fine. What’re you up to?”

Kit looked down at his laptop before turning the screen towards Noah. Noah smiled when he realized what it was.

“I can’t believe he signed with Red Bull this quickly. It does help when you’re talented as shit, I guess.”

Kit nodded. He returned it to his lap. On his screen was the Red Bull Facebook page. They’d posted a picture of Bentley in a Red Bull cap, shaking hands with one of the big guys after signing his contract. Bentley wore the cocky smile he usually had when it came to BMX as they posed for the photos. Kit liked that he knew the other side of him.

“I’ve been reading the comments. It’s a mixture of girls who have no clue who he is but really want to, people who are a fan of him or were fans of his father, and then a bunch of people who came to the thread to shit talk.”

Noah went to sit on his bed. “Sounds like the internet.”

Kit closed the computer and stood up. “What time will Jonah be here? I’m going to take a quick shower.”

“He’s picking up Benny and then they’re headed right over. Maybe another half-hour.”

“Great.” Kit slid into his flip flops and headed to get something to change into for the night. “That’s more than enough time.”

“Just to let you know,” Noah began, taking his hair out of the bun it’d been in. “Bentley asked that I turn the volume up high so that we wouldn’t hear whatever you two have going on. I’m going to oblige, I just request that you two keep some clothes on.”

Kit’s face blanched white as he turned to face his roommate. “Ok. I don’t know what you guys think will be happening, but it’s just movie night. We’re just going to watch the movie.”

Noah stared at him. “Mhm.”

“I’m going to get in the shower,” Kit said, trying to hide his smile.

??

“So…” Jonah turned to Bentley with a smirk as he pocketed his car keys. “Is it… Kentley? Or … Bit?”

Bentley smiled as they approached the building. “You’re an idiot.”

“He seems like an amazing guy. Good head on his shoulders, you know?” Jonah held the door open for Bentley since Bentley carried all the snacks. “You two have been together, what? A whole four days now. Usually at this point in the relationship, your past girlfriends would’ve posted three hundred pictures of you two and Taylor Swift song lyrics all over every social media feed there is. I don’t see that with you and Kit. It’s just about you two.”

Bentley smiled as he thought about how obnoxious some of his exes were. Jonah had a point. It seemed like they were showing off more than they were enjoying being together. But at the same time, he didn’t mind the thought of being obnoxious on social media with Kit. Kit wanted no parts of it, though. “It’s about us two, sure. But I think he’s afraid of the backlash I’d get if we were to post anything about the two of us. It feels weird keeping it under wraps like this.”

Jonah stepped into the elevator and looked at him. “Weird?”

“Well, yeah.” Bentley gripped both bags as he continued. “The last guy was ashamed of him. They stayed hidden. I want to show that I’m the complete opposite.”

“Oh. I see where you’re coming from. Maybe he just wants to make sure you date for longer than a week before you’re committing your love for one another on Instagram like every other couple that gets together around here.”

Bentley could understand that. He chuckled softly. “You and Bella were just as sickening. Still are.”

“True,” Jonah said, laughing. “But at least Kit is looking out for you. He’s dealt with shit and knows what could happen. I think when you two are ready, you’ll know it.”

They stepped off the elevator and headed towards 4K. Bentley observed the groups hanging out in the halls with their drinks in hand. Some said hello to him and Jonah, others smiled, some ignored them. Bentley greeted them back as they continued towards Noah and Kit’s. He hoped there wasn’t about to be a wild dorm party, but something told him there was.

Jonah knocked on the door and turned to face Bentley. “You should come to the football game this weekend since you’ll be away during Homecoming. Bruins versus Texas A&M.”

Bentley rolled his eyes.

“People aren’t mad at you, B. They’re happy for you.”

“If you say so. I do have plans, though –”

The door opened and there stood Kit. He looked from Jonah and then at Bentley, and slowly began to smile. Bentley looked at the purple muscle tank Kit wore, and the dark shorts that were hugging his thighs. Half of him wanted to tell Jonah and Noah to get lost, while the other half knew he had to show a little self-control.

“Welcome to Room 4K! Tonight’s movie is John Wick, staring the handsome but strange Keanu Reeves. We charge a five buck entry fee, or a kiss.” Kit smiled widely, his slender frame blocking the door. Jonah puckered his lips, and Bentley elbowed him before he could even try it.

Kit laughed.

“Fine,” Jonah grunted. He reached into his wallet and pulled out a five-dollar bill. Kit gladly took it before stepping aside. Once Jonah walked in, Kit turned to Bentley. He took the Red Bull cap off Bentley’s head and placed it backwards on his own.

“How will you be paying?”

Bentley smirked. He handed Kit both bags of snacks, stepped into his space, and cupped his face with both hands. Kit’s eyes closed immediately as he anticipated what was next to come, and Bentley leaned in with a deep kiss. It started off slow, but gradually, he could feel Kit’s tongue playing at the entrance of his mouth. Someone cleared their throat, causing Kit to pull away.

“One, you’re letting all the cool air out,” Noah began. “Two, you have the snacks.”

Bentley smiled. “Hey, Noah.”

Noah smirked back. “Get your asses in here.”

??

They split the snacks between both sides of the room. Jonah was camped out on the floor, Noah was on his bed, and Kit and Bentley sat crisscross apple sauce on Kit’s bed. They missed the first twenty minutes or so of the movie running their mouths – everyone wanted details about Bentley’s signing with Red Bull that morning – and then they ended up talking about how much fun the Juno Games were. Eventually, they ended up having to restart the movie, and Kit got up to go turn off the light. Bentley placed their snack bowl on Kit’s desk beside his hat and made some space for his boyfriend.

As promised, Noah turned the volume up to a level higher than it needed to be. Bentley allowed Kit to get comfortable before laying his head on his chest. He enjoyed the way Kit played in his hair with one hand and massaged his shoulder with the other. It felt incredible.

The movie played, and Noah and Jonah were actually into it. Every once in a while they’d make a comment about one of the action scenes. Bentley was grateful, because that meant the attention was off of him and Kit. He lifted his head, lined his lips perfectly with Kit’s, and placed his mouth softly on his.

The way Kit breathed into it told Bentley he’d been wanting it just as much as he had. Kit brought his hand to Bentley’s jaw as he parted his mouth, giving Bentley full control. Bentley had been waiting for this moment since he said goodbye on Sunday. He was going to take full advantage. His tongue slid over Kit’s in his mouth as he moved closer on the small bed; their legs now tangled together. Thankfully, Kit wasn’t pulling away. Kit seemed to be encouraging it.

Then, loud, blaring music sounded from the hallway.

Bentley groaned into Kit’s mouth before pulling away. He looked across the room to Noah who paused the movie. Noah told Jonah to go see what it was. Kit sighed, sitting up too.

“They can’t be serious right now,” Kit mumbled. Bentley’s hand was on his thigh – at an appropriate level – as they waited for Jonah to see what was going on out there. Noah stood up and stretched.

“There’s a shit ton of people out there. Girls. Guys. It looks like they’re putting down a slip and slide. There’s definitely about to be a party on the fourth floor hallway.”

Kit flopped back on the bed as he shook his head. “That music can probably be heard outside. Are we going to get in trouble?”

Noah shook his head. “That’s pretty tame. And it’s a Thursday. Most people don’t have classes tomorrow so… this sometimes happens.”

Bentley could tell Kit was annoyed. Hell. He was too. They were just getting started, and now the mood was ruined. “Maybe we should reschedule movie night?”

Jonah seemed down. “I think I’m going to go enjoy this freshman party. You guys coming?”

Noah turned around and put on a shirt. Kit didn’t budge. Bentley smiled at him.

“You okay?”

Kit nodded. “Can we go on one of our late-night walks? I know it’s like… nine o’clock.” He smiled. “But I’d very much like to get out of here.”

Bentley leaned in and kissed him. “Of course.”

??

“Do you know how hard it is living with your father and not telling him that we’re together?” Bentley hopped up on top a bench and stood there. Kit looked up at him curiously. “I’ve been helping this man paint his shop. I’ve been watching Law and Order re-runs with him. We’ve eaten together. It’s like he knows I’m not telling him something. It’s tough.”

“We’ll tell him this weekend,” Kit promised. He hopped up on the bench too, walking towards him. “I just want to tell him face-to-face.”

Bentley nodded. “I know.”

Campus was quiet right now. They’d walked for maybe 20 minutes and were near all the science buildings. Maybe it wasn’t such a bad thing that movie night was ruined by that crazy party. If they were in the room right now, Bentley would no doubt be fighting blue balls as they made out. At least out here, he was talking to Kit, and getting to know him a little better. He always got to know the most about him from their random conversations.

“Maybe you can meet my mom, too.” Bentley stepped closer on the bench and grabbed Kit’s hands. “I told her I’m seeing someone new. Just didn’t mention who it was.”

Kit hummed. “How do you think she’ll react?”

Bentley thought about that for a moment. “Honestly, I’m not sure. My family’s never been bigoted. They’ve always been liberal in their views. But I can’t 100% say how she’d respond.”

Kit got down from the bench and fixed the slipper on his foot. He glanced up at Bentley. “I’d love to meet her, regardless. Maybe we can take the both of them out this weekend?”

Bentley liked that idea. It’d give their parents the chance to meet. His mom mentioned wanting to meet the man who’d taken him in anyway, and he’d get to introduce her to Kit at the same time. “How about we go out for brunch again? My mom gets off in the mornings.”

Kit grinned. “That’s awesome! Besides,  I think your family needs to know that you’ve got someone watching after you.”

Bentley smirked. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

“That you’re a wild one.”

“Barely.” Bentley hopped down and smiled at the kiss that met his lips. “Have you given any thought to going to the Red Bull party with me?”

Kit sighed now, and Bentley knew what he was thinking. A pool party at a mansion to promote Bentley’s upcoming tour with press and people watching was scary to think about. But Bentley didn’t want to go with anyone else.

Kit wrapped both arms around Bentley’s shoulders. “I’m a little nervous about it… about how people will respond. And parties suck.”

“We don’t have to do anything you don’t like…”

Kit nodded. “I know. And I love the idea of being out and proud with you… us partying together. I just don’t want you to get backlash because of me – because of how we feel for one another.”

“I don’t care about that.”

“Not now…” Kit stepped in closer, and they were now embracing one another in the middle of the quiet campus road. “Today, I was reading the comments on your photo with Red Bull. There was tons of supporters, of course. But there were also people who were saying hateful things just because they’re terrible people. I think about how that could change if you were to come out. If we proudly attended this event together, celebrating an exciting time for you, people could ruin that happiness and I’d hate that.”

“Only if you let them.”

Kit pulled back to look at Bentley and shrugged. “Yeah. But you don’t know for certain that they won’t get to you. I don’t know that.”

Bentley stared him in the eyes. “What, are we supposed to hide forever? I don’t want to.”

Kit looked down. “I definitely don’t want to.”

“Then come to this party as my plus one. If we only stay for a few minutes, I’d be happy to be there with you.” Bentley tipped his chin so that Kit looked at him once more. “Please?”

Kit smiled. “You know I can’t say no to that face.”

Bentley pouted. “This face?”

Kit laughed. “Alright, Benny. I’ll go. And I’ll try not to be such a stick in the mud.”

“We’re going to be okay. No matter what.” They held each other closely, and Bentley slowly began to kiss Kit. Kit reciprocated; his hands clenching in Bentley’s shirt as he moaned softly. The moan sent all the blood in Bentley’s body rushing to his cock, and he made himself remove his hands from Kit’s ass and pull away.

Kit opened his eyes. “What? Why’d you stop?”

Bentley took a deep breath. “I, um. I got excited.”

Kit raised an eyebrow. “We were kissing for like a minute.”

“I really like you.”

Kit slowly began to smile. “Let’s keep walking, handsome.”

“Yeah.” Bentley allowed Kit to take his hand and swayed side-by-side.
