I watched her covertly for the rest of the night. Realistically I knew she couldn't get pregnant because she's on the pill, but somewhere inside I felt it. Who knows, I'm not known for my rationality so I could be out of my fucking mind.
"Talon I need you to listen to me okay; this vigilante thing you've got going has got to stop, you can't go around using your fists to solve everything."
I kept plugging away at the chicken burger she'd made for me. That shit she was spewing went in one ear and out the next.
"Babe what the fuck am I eating?" I looked at the nasty shit from all angles; shit didn't even have the right color.
"Talon are you even listening to me?"
"No."
She screamed and threw a rag at me.
"Stop the violence babe."
At least the waffle fries were good, but I'm gonna have to get me some steak or some shit, I need red meat.
"You know you make me crazy?"
"I'm pretty sure we had this convo before and have come to the conclusion that you were nutty before I came along babe, pass me the ginger ale."
"No you're having carrot juice."
"I'm having what?"
She rolled her damn pretty eyes at me and reached into the fridge for some orange colored shit.
"That's it, that's the last time you go food shopping without me, who knows what you'll have me eating next."
"You play football Talon you have to have more than French fries and burgers, from now on you'll eat what I put in front of you and none of your lip."
Shit sounded like some Avery women bullshit to me; damn she'd already started taking lessons.
"Babe you know you're talking shit right now right?"
She picked up her ugly ass dog with a heavy sigh and plopped down on the chair next to me.
"Yeah I know but I thought I'd give it a try, you know seeing as how you're a married man now I thought you'd want to eat healthy so we could have a long life together and all."
"Shit babe I'm barely in my twenties what the fuck?"
"Yes but we have to cut out all the bad habits starting from young you know."
She gave me pouty lips while I measured her bullshit factor, see if this was just one of her Avery women tactics at work. Sneaky bastards the lot of them.
"Babe, you can't sic nonna on my ass every time I'm doing something you don't like."
"Yes I can, until I get a handle on this marriage thing she's my go to girl, she told me so."
"But babes that old lady is scary, trust me I'm the better bet."
"No deal, you start acting crazy again I'm on the phone Avery."
When had she become such a damn dictating tyrant anyway? Way too much exposure to my female relatives, I'm gonna have to rethink my strategy.
"Fine snitch then I'll just have to keep everything a secret from you." I thought that was a pretty good idea until she got all quiet on me, and when I picked my head up to see what the fuck, she was looking at me with trembling lips. Color me stupid.
"Babe...what?"
"You're not supposed to keep things from me Talon, we're supposed to share everything. Otherwise we might have problems down the line that's what mama Olivia said."
Well fuck, now I'd made my new wife cry.
"Come here babe."
I pulled her and the mutt into my lap and hugged her tight.
"You're right baby just give me some time to deal with some things okay then I'll settle down I promise." I kissed her temple and squeezed her for reassurance.
