The Happy Endings Boxed Set: : Books 1-3 (Happy Endings Collection) by L. Wilder (30)

Epilogue

Three years later

I never would’ve believed that my pretend marriage to Langley could have changed my life so completely. I’d thought I’d lost my chance at happiness, but she and the kids had shown me that my life wasn’t over—not by a long shot. I won’t lie and say it had been easy, because life’s never easy. But it was always an adventure, especially with three young kids. Six months after our first wedding, Langley and I eloped, telling everyone that we were finally going on our honeymoon. To my surprise, we came back from that trip with extra cargo, and nine months later, Langley had our son, Jackson. We hadn’t exactly planned on having more kids, but now that he was almost eighteen months old, I couldn’t imagine my life without him. Things were good, really good. In fact, things were good with all the Michaels brothers.

The entire family had gone to Jamaica to attend Tucker and Kaci’s wedding. Since it was his off-season, they planned to stay on the island for a couple of weeks, and while a long vacation seemed tempting, Langley’s folks were keeping the kids, and I didn’t want to be away from them that long. When I looked over the balcony, I spotted my father talking with Seth and Grace. They were helping to make sure everything was perfect for the wedding, and I couldn’t help but smile as I watched Grace waddle across the pool deck. She was only four and a half months pregnant, but looked much further along. Seth blamed her full belly on the large size of their son, but I’d put my money on that fact that they were having twins. When I walked back inside our condo, Langley was rushing to finish her hair, and she looked simply amazing. I knew we were short on time, but I couldn’t resist reaching for her. As I kissed along her neck, I whispered, “You look beautiful.”

“Thank you, sweetheart.” When I didn’t let her go, she warned, “Colton.”

“Um-hmm,” I mumbled as I kissed her shoulder.

“We don’t have time for any shenanigans.”

“We have a few minutes.” I lied as I put one of my hands behind her neck and pressed my mouth against hers. Her lips parted in surprise as I backed her up against the table. The kiss was possessive and demanding, leaving no question as to what I had in mind for her. She gasped into my mouth when I pulled her hips closer to mine. Her body melted into mine when she felt the growing bulge of my arousal. My mouth roamed over the curve of her neck as I whispered, “I’ll never get enough of you.”

Colton …” she breathed.

My hands greedily moved under her thin summer dress, caressing her breasts through her clothes. As I’d hoped, she let her inhibitions fall away and reached for my suit jacket, pulling it from my body and tossing it onto the bed. She bit her bottom lip as she lifted her arms over her head, waiting eagerly as I reached for the hem of dress. Once it was gone, my cock grew even harder as I looked at her standing there in only her lace bra and panties. So damn perfect.

My fingertips roamed over her bare skin, and a low growl rumbled in my throat as my hands ran up her back and unhooked her bra. Langley’s fingers gripped my shoulders as I lowered my head to her breast, flicking my tongue across her sensitive flesh, and a shiver ran over her when the cold air hit the spot where my mouth had been. I eased back, letting her bra drift to the floor, and then reached for her waist, quickly turning her to face the mirror. She placed her hands on the table, bracing herself as I inched closer. Goosebumps prickled against her skin when I placed my hands on her hips and slowly dragged her panties down to her ankles. I trailed the tips of my fingers along her inner thigh, and her breath caught when I slipped my fingers between her legs. “I can’t wait a second longer. I need to be inside you.”

I quickly unfastened my belt and eased down my zipper, and she groaned with anticipation as I reached between us, positioning myself at her entrance. With one hard thrust, I buried myself inside her. “Fuck!

A hiss escaped her lips as her body tightened around me. My hands reached up to cup her breasts as I started to rock forward with shallow thrusts. Her grip on the table tightened when I started driving into her with longer, deeper strokes. Her entire body trembled, and her breathing became ragged as her climax approached. She gasped with pleasure when I reached around and began teasing her with just enough pressure to send her over the edge.

“Oh, God! Don’t stop,” she cried while her orgasm surged through her body. My hands gripped her hips when her legs started to buckle and held her upright as she continued to spasm around me. My body tensed with my own impending release, and my thrusts became relentless as I quickened my pace. Seconds later, I came deep inside her with a satisfied growl echoing around the room. I stayed like that for several moments. I didn’t want to move. I just wanted to stay there deep inside her until I was ready to go again, but then, Langley reminded me that I didn’t have that luxury. “Umm, Colton. That was amazing, but we have to get downstairs.”

“Just one more minute.”

“They’re waiting for us.”

“I don’t care.”

“They’re going to know we were up to something.”

“And?”

She eased forward, pulling herself from my embrace. “And I don’t want your brothers giving me those goofy ‘I know what you were doing’ looks all day.”

“Fine,” I grumbled as I pulled up my zipper. “It’s not like they aren’t doing the same damn thing.”

“You don’t know that.”

“Pfft. Yeah, I do,” I scoffed. “We’re in Jamaica, sweetheart. That’s what you do.”

“Whatever.” She rolled her eyes as she slipped into the bathroom to get cleaned up. Once she was dressed again and had fixed her hair and makeup, we went downstairs to meet the others.

As soon as we walked up, Seth growled at Colton, “The wedding starts in fifteen minutes.”

“Good. I thought we were running late,” he smirked.

“It would’ve been nice if you would’ve given us a hand with all this.”

“We did help. Just so you know, Langley and I have been out here all morning, but we saw no sign of you.”

A light blush crept over Grace’s face, and I knew right away that I’d been right about what my brothers had been up to. I glanced over to Langley and she shook her head with exasperation when I winked at her. Grace tugged at Seth’s arm and said, “Shouldn’t you two go check on Tucker and make sure he’s ready?”

“You mean he’s not down here yet?” I asked with surprise.

“We haven’t seen either of them all morning,” Grace told me with concern. “Do you think something is wrong?”

“Doubt it, but I’ll go check on him to be sure,” I replied as I turned and started back inside.

Just as I reached the door, Seth shouted, “Hold up. I’m coming with ya.”

We both got on the elevator, and when we got to Tucker’s room, I pounded on the door. “Tucker! You in there?”

Seconds later, the door creaked open, and Tucker poked his head out. His hair was a mess, and he was out of breath as he said, “Yeah. What’s wrong?”

“You need to get your ass downstairs. The wedding starts in like ten minutes.”

“Oh, shit.” With a mischievous smirk, he turned behind him and said, “I guess you were right. We didn’t have time.”

“Tucker!” Kaci shouted.

He turned his attention back to me and said, “We’ll be down in a minute.”

“Well, hurry your ass up,” I demanded.

“Why? It’s not like you can start without us.” He snickered.

“Tucker!” Kaci fussed.

“Okay. Fine. We’ll hurry.”

When Kaci and Tucker finally made it downstairs, we headed out to their designated spot on the beach and watched as they took their vows. It was really beautiful, and it did my heart good to see my little brother find the girl of his dreams. Once the ceremony was over, we headed over to the reception on the pool deck. There was an open bar, music, and the place was covered with little white lights, flowers, and candles. It was really something—almost as nice as mine had been.

Seth and I had just gotten a drink from the bar when Tucker came over to me. “Kaci said you and Langley were heading back home tomorrow. Why so soon?”

“Cause I need to get back.”

“I thought Langley’s mom had the kids,” he pushed.

There was no way I could put into words how I felt when I was home with my family, so I simply replied, “When you and Kaci start having kids, then you’ll understand.”

I was looking for Langley, when I spotted Dad standing over in a dimly lit corner talking to Grace’s mother. She was smiling from ear to ear as they bantered back and forth. Amused by their display, I leaned over to Seth and said, “Hey, man. Do you see what I see?”

He glanced over in their direction and smiled. “Well, who would’ve guessed it?”

“What’s Grace gonna think about that?” I asked as I watched Dad whisper something in her mother’s ear.

“I’m sure she won’t mind. Hell, her mother could use a good distraction.”

I nudged him with my elbow. “Hey. Maybe we could actually get his ass to the gym now.”

“You’re probably right.” Seth snickered.

“Looks like Pop’s still got the touch.”

“Yes, he does.”

“Like father like sons,” we all said in unison.

And so it begins
