The Ram (The Black Land Series Book 5) by D. Camille (20)

Miracle felt like a true Cinderella as she sat in the passenger seat on their way home. She reflected on their first dance. Corvus had led her out to the dance floor and gently taken her into his arms then the music had started and she’d been swept away.

She turned to him now as he drove, and studied his profile. Corvus turned to her and smiled before looking back at the road.

“Did you enjoy your evening?” he asked.

Miracle smiled. “You know I did. I can’t believe your mother actually had a horse and carriage. I felt like a real life Cinderella.”

Corvus shook his head. “My mother has a flare for the dramatic.”

“It was so beautiful. I’ll never forget this night,” she told him softly. “Your toast was amazing.”

  “It was only the truth.”

She turned to him. “You really watch me sleep?”

  “Every morning.”

Miracle touched his arm. “You’re so sweet to me. From what I knew about you before we met, I would never have guessed you were this way.”

He glanced at her. “I dated a lot of women, but I’ve never mistreated a woman and I reserved the best of me, for the woman who would have all of me.”

Miracle smiled. “I’m glad that turned out to be me.”

Corvus kissed her forehead. “No, I’m glad.”

She laid her head on his arm as he continued to drive. Seeing all the lights, Miracle sat up and looked out of the window at the tall building. “Where are we going?” she asked.

“I told you I had a surprise for you tonight,” he answered.

Looking at him, she said, “I thought you meant something at home that involved being naked.”

“Do your parents know that both of their daughters are freaks?” he questioned.

“If I am, it’s because of you.”

Corvus pulled into a parking garage and parked in a reserved space all while Miracle watched in confusion. “This is reserved parking.”

He grinned. “It’s reserved for us.”

She waited until he walked around to open the door and stepped out of the vehicle. With a hand on her back, Corvus led her to the elevators where he used a card key to let them inside.

“Where are we?” Miracle asked looking around the elegant elevator.

  “We’re at home.”

She frowned. “It’s a hotel.”

He nodded. “Yes, part of it.”

Reaching their floor, Miracle allowed him to lead her to a door where Corvus once again used a card key to open it. Inside, Miracle’s eyes widened as he turned on the lights and they moved around the luxurious accommodations. Floor to ceiling windows overlooked the Detroit River, while gleaming wood floors led down a long hall.

“What is this?” she turned to him and asked.

  “It’s one of our homes.”

She blinked. “What?”

“These are condos that sit on top of the Book Cadillac Westin Hotel. It’s a private residence but we also get all the amenities of the hotel, including room service,” he explained.

  “This is your property?”

Corvus slipped his arms around her waist. “Since we’re married now, it’s technically our property.”

Miracle put a hand to her mouth. “Corvus, I’m a realtor…I can imagine how much this is worth.”

  “It’s an investment,”

She walked to the window and looked out at the view. “You should have asked for a prenup,” Miracle whispered. “Your portfolio must be amazing.”

Corvus stepped up behind her and put his arms around her waist. “I don’t need a prenup for my Little Goddess. She’s not going anywhere.”

“This is very beautiful,” Miracle said continuing to stare out of the window.

  “I’m glad you like it.”

“Who wouldn’t?” she said still in awe. “Do you live here too?”

“I stay here sometimes when it’s not rented out.” He turned her in his arms. “We can stay here whenever you like. It’s a great view of the Riverfront fireworks.”

“I bet it is,” she agreed.

Corvus picked her up and started towards the hall. “I brought you here so you can see it and so that I could feed you breakfast in bed in the morning.”

“You can’t feed me breakfast in bed at home?”

He kept walking. “I’d have to cook it and you wouldn’t want that.”

“So you had that big beautiful kitchen designed for you to look at?”

“Nah, I had that designed for you to cook in.”

At the bedroom, he opened the door and Miracle sighed. The room held a large bed covered in white with orchid arrangements around the room and petals littering the bed. Candles glowed and an ice bucket sat with a bottle inside next to two crystal glasses.

“Happy reception night,” Corvus told her.

“Corvus…” Miracle placed her face in his chest.

“What’s wrong?” he asked looking down at her.

“It’s too much,” she whispered. “You overwhelm me.”

He walked to the bed and sat with her in his arms. “Miracle, I could never do too much to show you what you mean to me.”

She looked up at him with watery eyes. “I don’t do anything to mean this much.”

“Just by being you.”

Corvus kissed her lips. “You feed me, you love me and you complete my life,” he whispered.

Miracle locked her arms around him and returned his kiss. He laid her back on the bed and covered her body with his. “I love you, Miracle,” Corvus whispered in her ear and she closed her eyes with a smile.

“I’ll never get tired of hearing you say that,”

Kissing her again, he replied. “I’ll never stop saying it.”

  “I pray that you don’t.”

Corvus traced her face with a finger. “You don’t have to pray for that. Pray for the children who aren’t safe walking home from school or for the Goddesses trying to raise their children alone without fathers. Pray for our brothers in jail on false and minimal charges or being killed by police. Pray for our boys and girls who are being molested by family members and people they trust.”

Miracle opened her eyes. “So many things to pray for, Little Goddess, but for me to always love you, isn’t one you have to have on your list of priorities.”

“You always makes things sound so simple,”

“They are, when you want them to be.”

She stared up at him. “What do you ask for?”

“I asked for you and then I prepared for you. I ask for all the things I mentioned and I put in the work to make those changes. I asked for some little, Little Goddesses and I’m about to work on that.”

Miracle smiled. “You make things happen.”

  “That’s what Gods do.”

“I’m beginning to agree that you’re not the average man,” Miracle told him.

He lifted a brow. “You’re just starting to recognize that?”

She laughed. “I think I’ve known it all along. I’m just beginning to agree with it.”

“I think I need to prove this beyond a shadow of a doubt…”

“How?” she questioned with a smile.

Corvus grinned. “By finding out just how freaky my little wife is…”

Miracle blinked. “What are you going to do to me?”

He leaned down and bit her lip softly. “See, I’ve been taking it easy on my little wife, but I think she’s ready for me to put it down on her.”

“Put it down?” she squeaked out.

He nodded and slipped a hand under her dress. Their eyes connected and he saw her intrigue before he yanked and snapped the band on her panties, ripping them apart.

She gasped, “Oh my god!”

“Yeah, I’m just getting started.” He moved and the next thing she knew, her dress was up around her waist and Corvus was staring down at her, shrugging out of his blazer. It dropped to the floor, then one of her legs followed by the other, went over his broad shoulders.

“This right here…” he told her while using a hand to separate her lower woman’s lips, then stroked her clitoris until she sighed and lifted into his touch.

Corvus moved his hand lower and slid inside her warmth. He searched her small cave until he found what he desired, causing her to gasp and moan.

“That spot right there…” He lowered his head and tasted her. “I love it.”

Between his mouth and his hand, Miracle didn’t know which one was pushing her harder and when he maneuvered his hand to tickle the spot that he’d referred to, she felt herself plunging deeper. He alternated between kisses, licks and deep suction until she grabbed his head, screaming his name.

Satisfied with her reaction, Corvus stood and licked his lips, gazing down at her now spread eagle on the bed. Miracle watched as he unfasted his belt then his dark slacks. He lowered them just far enough for her to witness his beautiful erection, then grabbed her leg, pulling her to him.

He positioned both her legs toward the ceiling and entered her with a groan before grabbing hold of her thighs and lifting her higher to stroke her deeply.

  “Corvus…” Miracle said breathlessly.

He continued a while longer to the sounds of their passion until he pushed her legs apart and climbed on top of her. Corvus lifted her arms above her head and covered her mouth with his, allowing Miracle to taste herself, still on his lips. It was a taste she was becoming accustomed to and enjoyed what precipitated it very much.

As he entered and retreated, she lost herself in this man and this moment. Together, their tongues and mouths mated in conjunction with the rest of their body. When he withdrew, she tightened her hands in his.

Corvus kissed her softly. “I’m nowhere near done with you baby.”

Sliding from her body, he stood to his feet then helped her to her knees in front of him on the bed.  Corvus stepped out of his shoes and bottoms, as Miracle unbuttoned his shirt. He grabbed her face and kissed her roughly until her hands came up to his arms.

“Turn around,” he said into her mouth.

Pulling back, Miracle licked her swollen lips and turned her back to him. Corvus reached for a couple of pillows and placed them in front of her.

“I still have my dress on…” she told him quietly.

“I know, bend over Little Goddess…”

He assisted her with a hand on her back, until her ass was in the air. Miracle rested on the positioned pillows and when she felt his mouth on her behind, she turned to look back at him.

“What are you doing?”

He continued his thorough exploration of her rear with his mouth and she couldn’t contain the blush that covered her body. At certain spots, she alternated between his name and ‘Oh my god” until he filled her completely with his hot love.

Miracle now understood what the pillows were for as she clutched them for balance against the sensual strokes knocking her forward. Corvus held her hips in place for each plunge until she screamed and felt the warm liquid spill inside her body.

Corvus squeezed and kneaded her butt lovingly before separating their bodies. Slowly, he unzipped her dress and she sat up on her knees for him to remove it over her head. Tossing it aside, he kissed her back and unfastened her bra, letting it join her dress on the floor. Miracle threw her head back as his big hands came around to cradle her breasts with his mouth on her neck.

“That was the warm up,” he whispered and she blinked before turning to him.

Miracle slid her hands up his brown chest and pushed his shirt away. Boldly, she placed her tongue in his mouth and cradled his bearded face. “What’s next, my love?” she asked against his lips.

Placing a hand behind her head, he continued to kiss her until he robbed her of all breath. Miracle touched his jaw and stared at him. “Tell me…” she breathed.

  “Touch me…” he instructed.

  “Show me,” she urged.

Taking her hands, he placed them both on his manhood. “Softly?” she inquired.

“At first,” he answered. “Then, however you like.”

When she fondled him like a pro from tip to sac, he looked down at her in question.

“Uh, what’s up with that?” he asked with a frown.

  “With what?”

Corvus gave her a look. “Girl, what the hell? How do you know all that?”

Miracle smiled. “Faith said you’d like it that way.”

“What else did Faith say?” he questioned and when she blushed, he knew the answer.

He looked surprised. “What have you been waiting on?”

Miracle shrugged. “You.”

  “Me?”

“I didn’t know if that’s what you wanted,” she explained. “I didn’t just want to assume. Faith has gotten me into many embarrassing situations.”

Corvus placed both hands on her face and kissed her gently. “Listen to me…that’s not ever a question. Whatever you want to do to me, have your way with me. I will never, ever, not want you, in any way.” He assured her.

Miracle smiled at him. “And that smile makes me hard every single time,” he told her.

She reached for him again. “I see.”

After a few minutes of her initial undertaking of the task, Corvus lifted her face to his and kissed her thoroughly.

She looked at him in question and raised a brow. “Yes?”

“Oh baby, yes…” he answered lifting her to wrap her legs around him. Reaching down, he slid into her waiting body and heard her sharp intake of breath at his invasion.

“Hold on,” he told her. “It’s going to be a long ride.”

Miracle looked into his face. “I still have my shoes on,” she breathed as he moved them to the dresser that was attached to a large mirror.

“I know, spread those pretty legs, Little Goddess…”

******

Miracle awakened the next afternoon to a phone ringing. She turned and found the bed empty next to her. Reaching on the nightstand, she picked up the device causing the noise. She glanced at Corvus’ screen and read the woman’s name that she recognized.

Frowning, she sat up and pulled the covers around her. The phone stopped and Miracle sat it back on the nightstand next to hers. She ran her hands down her face and shook her head to wake herself completely.

She was about to call for Corvus, when he walked into the room carrying a tray, dressed in pajama bottoms.

“You’re awake?” he said with a smile as he came over to the bed.

Miracle nodded. “Your phone woke me up. It was ringing.”

He frowned. “I’m sorry. I thought I’d turned the ringer off.” Corvus sat the tray on her lap and looked into her face.

  “What’s wrong?” he asked concerned.

“Cynthia Walters was calling you,” she told him.

He looked confused. “From the newspaper?”

She shrugged. “I guess, unless you know another Cynthia Walters.”

Corvus reached for his phone and saw the missed call. He immediately dialed back and put the call on speaker.

“Hello?” the voice answered. “This is Cynthia.”

“This is Corvus Shaw. Did you just call me?” he asked.

Cynthia sighed. “Yes, I did. I’m sorry to call you so early.”

“Why are you calling me?” Corvus asked as Miracle watched him.

“Corvus, some information has come across my desk and I didn’t want to wait to notify you,” Cynthia explained.

“What kind of information?” he questioned.

“I think someone is trying to smear you and they’re trying to use me and the paper to do it.”

Corvus ran a hand down his face as Miracle put a hand to her mouth. “Shit,” he said quietly.

“I know the Negus and I’m assuming that this information is false, but I also want to give you the opportunity to confirm that for me. I don’t know if anyone else at another paper has received the same thing, but I think it would be wise for you to be on top of it and get your story out first.”

Cynthia continued. “I’d rather not discuss the specifics over the phone for obvious reasons.”

“Of course,” Corvus agreed. “When would you like to meet?”

“As soon as possible, this could be very damaging for you if it gets out.”

Corvus looked at Miracle. “My wife and I can meet you in a couple of hours.” He lifted a brow at Miracle and she nodded in agreement.

They concluded with the arrangement and Corvus replaced the phone on the nightstand before Miracle move the tray aside and went into his arms.

“It’s going to be okay,” she soothed him. “I’m glad she called you.”

Corvus sighed. “Yeah, me too.”

He looked at his naked wife. “You were mad. You thought she was calling me for another reason.”

Miracle looked away. “I did think it was a possibility.”

Turning her face back to his, Corvus said, “You can answer my phone, Miracle. I have nothing to hide from you.”

“What if it is one of your exes?”

Corvus took her hand. “When I started looking for my Goddess, I got a new phone and blocked the numbers of all the women I’d been involved with. Cynthia helps out the Negus a lot and gives us good press so she has all of our numbers.”

“The day that you called my office, my secretary was out and I’d transferred the business line to my phone because I was expecting an important call,” he explained. “Normally, I don’t even answer direct business calls.”

“So any other day, I wouldn’t have spoken to you, if I’d called to inquire about the land?”

He shook his head. “Probably not, but it was meant to be. You turned out to be the most important call I’ve ever taken.”

Miracle touched his face and kissed his jaw. “Thank you for breakfast.”

  “It’s more like brunch now.”

  “It looks delicious.”

He looked over her naked frame. “So do you.”

She flushed. “You should eat. I know you’re hungry and we have to meet Cynthia soon.”

“Thank you for coming with me.”

“Where else would I be, except by your side?” Miracle asked.

“I don’t know what this information is, but…”

Miracle placed a hand over his mouth. “It doesn’t matter.”

Corvus kissed her hand. “Did I tell you that I love you today?”

She shook her head. “No, I just woke up.”

“I love you Miracle,” he whispered before kissing her lips.

“I love you too, Corvus Shaw,” she replied and jumped from his lap. “And I gotta go…”

Corvus watched her naked behind as she ran to the bathroom. “While you’re in there, can you wash that crust out of your left eye?” he yelled.

“I don’t like that!” she yelled back and he laughed before snagging a slice of turkey bacon from the tray. “Damn, I love her.”

Miracle finished her business and looked in the mirror at the crust in her left eye and smiled. “I swear, I love him.”

******

At the location where they’d agreed to meet, Cynthia sat across from Corvus and Miracle.

“Congratulations,” she told the couple. “I know the ladies of Detroit are sad that all of the Negus are off the market now.”

Miracle smiled. “Yes, they are indeed.”

“Word on the street was that Corvus had been off for a little while now,” Cynthia said looking at Corvus.

“I was preparing for this Little Goddess to find me,” he said looking at Miracle.

She smiled at him and he kissed her softly.

“Well, send somebody to find me,” Cynthia told them. “Chasing stories can only occupy a woman for so long.”

The couple laughed as Cynthia produced a large envelope. She laid it on the table in front of them and waited.

“You might not want your wife to see all of this yet…” Cynthia warned.

Corvus looked at Miracle. “I have nothing to hide from her.”

Cynthia nodded and Corvus opened the envelope. Inside, he pulled out the contents and laid them on the table.

Miracle recognized the copies of real estate documents and picked up one of them. After reading it over she perused the rest. “They’re trying to say that your land deals are fraudulent.”

“That’s what it looks like,” Corvus agreed.

Miracle continued to study the papers. “It says you’re getting better deals than other buyers.”

“I negotiate all my deals personally based on my information,” he told her. “And they’re all legit.”

“What reason would they have to think you’re getting better deals and not just a good businessman?” Miracle asked.

Cynthia slid another envelope onto the table and Corvus felt the hammer drop. Miracle looked at him and he nodded for her to look first.

Both he and Cynthia watched as she opened the envelope and studied the contents. After a minute of studying them, she place them back in the envelope and handed them to Cynthia.

“That’s not Corvus in those photos.”

“Can you be sure?” Cynthia asked.

Miracle nodded. “Yes, because I know that’s not my husband.”

Cynthia shrugged. “It’s well known that this woman has had several affairs over the years and Corvus has a reputation of being quite the ladies’ man.”

Corvus reached for the envelope as Miracle continued.

“First of all, those pictures are dated like two months ago and Corvus was preparing for his Goddess so he wouldn’t have been sleeping with a married woman.”

“Second, I know my husband’s body very well and uh…that’s not even close.” Miracle told her firmly.

Cynthia raised both eyebrows. “Well, I can’t argue since I have no knowledge of that.”

Corvus looked at the pictures and shook his head. Silently he replaced them and handed the package back to Cynthia.

“Miracle’s right, that’s not me and I’ve never been with that woman. I know who she is though,” Corvus said quietly.

“I was sure you would,” Cynthia told him.

Miracle looked between the two with confusion and asked, “Who is she?”

Corvus turned to Miracle. “She sits on the DLBA committee.”

  “The DLBA?”

He explained. “The Detroit Land Bank Authority. They’re responsible for all the city owned land and properties.”

Miracle understood immediately. “So they’re trying to accuse you of getting better deals because you’re allegedly involved with her?”

Corvus nodded. “And Photoshop is a blackmailer’s playground.”

“If this gets published, no one will take the time to figure that out,” Cynthia told him. “They’ll consider both of your reputations and it will become truth.”

Miracle turned to Corvus. “Did you have affairs with married women?”

“Not if I knew they were married.”

She shook her head. “I don’t even want to delve deeper into that.” Miracle turned to Cynthia. “What should we do now?”

Cynthia looked at the couple. “I’d be willing to do a piece on Corvus, highlighting all the good he does in the city and show him in another light, as a protector of the city and a married man.”

“I have a story for you Cynthia,” Corvus told her and she perked up.

  “Hit me,”

Corvus looked at Miracle and took her hand. “It centers around a piece of land that sits near a church, that I deeded to my wife as her wedding present.”

Miracle’s eyes flew to his.
