Trace (Significant Brothers Book 4) by E. Davies (1)

Prologue

Dustin

“I told you to meet me naked at the door.”

Dustin raised his eyebrows slowly. “You did. I ignored you, because I’d rather not flash all my neighbors.”

He let the door swing shut behind tonight’s hookup, regretting for just a moment that it wasn’t in the guy’s face. He could probably put up with him for a few minutes, which was all he needed.

The guy—Eric?—rolled his eyes. There was nothing warm or friendly about the way he shrugged his shirt off and threw it on the floor like it had offended him.

So much for “fun, friends, and Mr. Right.” Clearly, Dustin wasn’t a candidate for either of the latter. He tried not to take it too much to heart.

“Bedroom’s this way.”

Eric shook his head. “Nah. We can do it here.”

Dustin swallowed a laugh as he looked around his front hallway. Narrow and pretty boring, but he did have a nearly-empty table near the door for his keys, a change bowl, and the mail. “If that floats your boat, sure.”

“Door’s closed. Get your pants down,” Eric told him, shrugging off his shirt to show off the rows of abs that had drawn Dustin to his profile picture.

Dustin often had his share of no-strings-attached Grindr dates, but usually with guys who had boring or blank profiles. Eric had had two entire paragraphs. He’d looked interesting… but that personality wasn’t on display tonight.

Then again, he and Eric had only messaged briefly. He ought to have known by now that that meant he was just tonight’s distraction, not potential for the friends or Mr. Right or any kind of future. Dustin shrugged off his disappointment at the same time as his shirt, then dropped his pants.

I don’t care if you don’t, he decided with a smile to himself. It was going to be an easy fuck, and it had been a while for him.

Trying not to think about the smiles on the faces of his friends in stupid long-term relationships with sex and romance and engagement rings and houses together, he reminded himself once again that he had to be practical. If he didn’t settle for what he could get, he might never get any.

So he sank to his knees as Mr. Tonight pulled his cock out, fishing a condom out of his pocket as Eric stepped out of the last of his clothes.

“You sure?” Eric asked, shifting from foot to foot, stroking himself. He was already hard and pink in his own hand.

Dustin smirked up at him. “Yeah.” He rolled it on with his mouth, mentally sighing at the latex taste.

The guy wasn’t even a moaner, but one of those weird, guttural grunters. Maybe it made him feel manlier to snort and kick the ground while he got his dick sucked. Whatever—Dustin didn’t care, as long as he got what he was here for.

The thickness in his mouth was pleasant enough. Dustin had always liked sucking cock, and he lost his thoughts for a few minutes as he bobbed his head, swirled his tongue firmly around the head, sucked his cheeks in, stroked the guy’s balls

“Show me your hole.” Eric’s voice sounded strained.

Dustin scrambled to his feet and bent over the table, licking his fingers and slowly working them inside himself.

And then Eric was moaning behind him in sharp sounds, and he felt… was that wetness across his lower back?

He glanced back. It was. Asshole hadn’t even lasted long enough to get inside him. Letting his fingers slide out, he grabbed tissues to clean up, sighing audibly. He wasn’t gonna embarrass the guy, but goddamn, some self-control was not uncalled-for.

“You weren’t supposed to suck me off, man,” Eric had the balls to complain as he shoved himself back into his pants and put his shirt on.

Dustin eyed him. “You weren’t supposed to come on me without asking, either.”

Eric grunted. “Sure. Cool. See ya.” With that, Eric was gone.

At last, even though his cock was half-hard and aching for some kind of attention, Dustin saw the humor of the situation. No wonder Eric wanted his dates to be nude at the door, so he didn’t waste a second. If he’d had the balls to say it was a choice between sucking or fucking for three minutes, they could have made the best of it. Dustin was easygoing. There were options.

This was gonna make a hell of a story to tell his friends. Dustin sank to the floor and laughed. He rolled his head back against the leg of the table with a rueful sigh when he finally caught his breath.

“Guess I’m going to the bar tonight.”
