Jaz (Stratham Shifters Book 7) by Sarah J. Stone (9)

Chapter 8

Jaz opened his eyes and tightened his arms around Libby. She cuddled closer until her back was cradled against his side. He never thought the day would come when he’d wake up with a smile on his face. He’d spent the majority of his life being underestimated and treated like shit. It had never bothered him before, but now that he’d found his other half he realized what life could be. He wasn’t generally the emotional type of man, but Libby seemed to open up that side of him. He could still be himself, but now he had something more to live for. He didn’t have to fight off his brother’s brutality or his father’s hurtful words anymore.

He turned his head toward Libby and watched her sleep. She looked as peaceful and content as he felt. Her skin was warm, and soft as he trailed his fingers along her stomach. The muscles tightened under his soft caress, but she didn’t wake.

He slid his hand lower and froze when he realized she wasn’t wearing her jeans. He licked his lips and ran his finger along the edge of her lace panties. His heart sped up, and his body hardened. His erection pressed against his pants and he groaned quietly. He shouldn’t touch her like this. But his beast raged inside of him. Her scent wrapped around him in the warmth that was just Libby. He’d only been out of hibernation a short time, but he already knew what type of person she was. And though he knew she was far too good for him, he also knew he’d be selfish and never let her go.

‘Touch her, taste her.’

What could it hurt? She was his mate, after all, and he planned to complete the bond after the demon was out of the way. With that thought, he slid his finger over the lace and nearly came undone when he felt how aroused she was. Even in her sleep, she thought of him…

She better be fucking thinking about him.

His dragon agreed as he slipped his fingers under the elastic and felt her bare pussy for the first time.

Libby moaned in her sleep and spread her legs. He glanced at her, but her eyes were still closed. Her pressed against her and massaged her nub gently. He traced her slit and shuddered when he scented her growing arousal, and felt it coat his finger. He’d barely touched her, but she was oh-so responsive. Taking initiative, he rubbed against her, feeling her thighs tense when he slid two fingers inside of her.

She gasped, and her eyes opened slowly as she raised her hips, inviting him inside of her. “Please,” she whispered sleepily.

Jaz kissed her shoulder and continued to thrust inside of her, faster and harder. She moaned and shifted restlessly. She was close.

This, he could do for her. He watched her face as she nibbled her lip. Libby slid her hand down her panties and rubbed her nub while he fucked her with his fingers. He yanked the blanket down and growled as he watched her pleasure herself. It had to have been the most erotic thing he’d ever seen.

“That’s right, baby, come for me,” he whispered.

She moaned again and moved her body faster against his hand pressing him deeper inside of her. “Oh, gods!”

Jaz kept going, even as her wall clenched against him and she twitched when he didn’t stop. Her body trembled beneath his touch and she wrapped her arm around his neck tugging his lips to her. She kissed him hard, thrusting her tongue into his mouth, and explored every inch while he slowed his fingers. She panted heavily into his mouth and he pulled his fingers from her pussy. Before he stopped himself, he ripped her panties from her body and tossed them aside.

She gasped in surprise and kissed him harder. He knew he shouldn’t do it, but he couldn’t take it anymore. The urge to mate coiled inside of him, sending him into a frenzy to make her his in every way. He wouldn’t fight it anymore if he could. He’d heard stories about the ritual of mating, but he never believed that the call could so thoroughly take over. Jaz was learning now though. And he wished he would have paid more attention. Was this how it was with all dragons? He wasn’t sure, but he was no longer able to question what he was doing. His hands shook and his gums ached. Every inch of his body flamed with need.

Jaz rolled over her crushing his body to hers. Her breasts pressed against his chest. Her skin was covered in sweat and burning with her growing desire. He felt it inside of her, as if it were his own.

“Open your eyes.”

She did. They were no longer brown. He could see that her wolf was at the surface. It triggered something deep inside of him and his eyes shifted, too.

“Please,” she whispered again. “Please don’t stop.”

He moaned when dug her nails into his back, as if she were afraid he’d disappear. he really should have listened to his to his head, not his instincts, but he couldn’t stop. His mate lay under him waiting for him, throbbing for him. All the blood left his brain and shot right to his cock. He was glad he was still wearing pants, but they chaffed him when she rubbed against him.

“Don’t.”

“I want you,” she said.

He closed his eyes, trying to gain some sort of control. He should have known that once he touched her, he wouldn’t be able to stop. The fever was on him. If he didn’t calm the hell down, he’d be more beast than man, and he had to make it good for her. He’d never cared about the women he’d been with in the past. They always had a mutual understanding. It was sex, period. There was no kissing, caressing, or anything too intimate. That’s how he always preferred it. The women he fucked were the same as him. They wanted a release. But it was different now.

“We shouldn’t do this.”

She growled. “Yes, we should. You’re the only one fighting.”

She was right. And there was no way around it. His body ached with the need to fill her. To take her and bite her. Show the world who she belonged to.

He rolled off of her and out of bed faster than he’d moved since he woke up. Before she could question him, he shoved his pants off. He didn’t give her a chance to see him in all his glory. The heat was about to burn him from the inside out.

“I won’t last.”

She smirked. “You’ll have plenty of time to make it up to me. Now, get over here.”

He obeyed her without much thought and positioned himself on top of her. She spread her legs to accommodate his larger frame, cradling him between her legs. She lifted her hips and slid her lips along his hardness.

He still had a chance to put a stop to this madness and stick to his plan. She’d be upset, but would get over it. The problem— he didn’t want to stop. All his talk about waiting until after they dealt with the demon left him. He wouldn’t be able to think straight with her being around all those unmated males. It was a distraction no one could afford. He needed to be focused.

No more fighting.

Jaz took a deep breath and sank into her in one thrust. She cried out and he froze, unsure if he hurt her or not. Her pussy clenched around him, squeezing him almost to the point of pain. She was tighter than any woman he’d ever been with.

“Are you okay?”

She laughed and gripped his ass, pulling him tighter against her.

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

“Mmm.”

He kissed her and pumped into her, loving how she gripped him. Each thrust was rougher than the one before, but she seemed to like it. The harder he rode her, the more she mumbled incoherent words. Her cries urged him on.

When she lifted her hips, their rhythms synced. He didn’t know where he ended or she started. They were truly one as he loved her with more passion than he’d ever felt in his life. When she orgasmed, he followed, growling out his release. His fangs slid from beneath his gums and he struck with no warning.

She screamed as she came again. Her body pulsed around his cock sending wave after wave of pleasure through his body. He didn’t have a chance to come down before he stiffened again and thrust into her so hard and so fast the bed frame creaked beneath them. But he didn’t care.

“I need—”

Jaz tilted his head to the side, giving her what she wanted. Just like him, she didn’t warn him before she struck, and as her teeth sunk into his neck he roared as he came again. They were locked together, riding out their pleasure.

Libby pulled her fangs from his skin and licked over the punctures. The bond filled her to a level she had no idea existed. He didn’t move as they caught their breaths. As she slowed her racing heart, she clutched Jaz’s arms afraid of what was going to happen once he came down from his release. He’d told her they couldn’t complete the bond, and yet they had. He’d lost control and taken her. Her legs still trembled under him. She loved that he let go with her. But she expected her joy would disappear once he realized what they’d done.

Jaz tensed, and Libby held back the tears that were waiting for this moment. She didn’t think she could stand it if he turned away from her. He slowly disentangled his limbs from her and rolled onto his back on the bed. Libby lay to her side, ignoring the ache between her legs. He’d been rough, but she’d reveled in his strength. She studied his face, but his eyes were closed, and she had no idea what he was thinking. She ran her gaze over his chest and gasped.

“Jaz, look!”

He opened his eyes and followed Libby’s touch.

“I guess what they say is true.”

Libby frowned at him, not understanding.

“The touch of the mate heals.”

She shook her head. “I’ve never heard that.”

He shrugged, still staring at the faint scar over his heart. “Maybe it’s a dragon thing?”

She nibbled her lip. “You’re not mad?”

He faced her then. “Mad? Why would I be mad?”

She shrugged and broke his gaze.

“No, tell me. Why would you think I was mad?”

Glancing up quickly before she studied his bare skin and traced circles on his chest. “We completed the bond.”

“Oh.”

This was it. She cringed when his hand covered hers stilling any movement.

He pulled her close and ran his fingers through her hair. “I didn’t plan for that to happen, but I’m not angry.”

“You’re not?”

“No, it just means I’m going to be even more protective. You’ll just have to bear with me.”

Libby didn’t respond. She was just glad he wasn’t pulling away from her again. Their relationship was just beginning, and he’d been adamant about not bonding yet. Not that it made any difference now. It was done, and she couldn’t—no, she wouldn’t be upset about something she wanted. Finally, she had someone who was hers, not the pack’s or the dragons’. Eventually, he would come to love her.

So she hoped.

She was willing to wait. Not that it wouldn’t be difficult. She knew she was already halfway in love with him, but she wouldn’t tell him that—not yet. He’d run the other way for sure.

She nestled closer to him enjoying the moment of silence. It wasn’t uncomfortable or awkward like she thought it would be.

Her eyes lowered as she slowly drifted off to sleep until the banging started. Mumbling she thought to ignore it and Jaz didn’t seem to disagree as he tightened his arms around her.

“It’s your cousin.”

She sighed. She had forgotten he was coming to meet Jaz. “I guess I better let him in before he breaks the door down.” She rolled out of her mate’s warmth and slid her clothes back on. “You’re coming, right?”

“If that’s what you want.” He lounged back with his arms folded behind his head looking relaxed.

“He’s here to meet you, so I suppose you better.”

“I’ll be out there in a few minutes.”

Libby nodded and left Jaz alone, shutting the door behind her before she went to let Dillion in. Part of her had been dreading this meeting because her cousin seemed to be intent on her mating with anyone else besides Jaz.

She unlocked the door and pulled it open squinting against the harsh light of the sun. Dillion stood in front of her taking in her wrinkled dress, messy hair, and flushed skin.

“You mated with him?”

She rolled her eyes and gestured for him to come inside and shut the door behind him.

“I thought he didn’t want to bond yet?”

“He changed his mind.”

“Libby—you know nothing about him, what if he is using you?”

She spun toward him and glared at him planting her hands on her hips. “And I thought we’d decided you would trust him—trust me.”

“I do trust you, but you’re gullible. You want to believe that he can change. That he could love anyone besides himself.” Dillon leaned against the door frowning at her. “What if he hands you over to the demon?”

Libby would have responded, but suddenly Jaz was by her side growling at her cousin.

“I would never hurt her.”

Dillon scoffed. “Right, and I’m just supposed to believe you.”

“You don’t have to believe me—or even like me. The only thing that matters is that Libby does.”

She smiled up at Jaz, letting him know she appreciated what he’d said. It wasn’t often someone stood up for her, and most of the time it was Dillon against the other wolves. It was nice having someone on her side. And not just because they were family. Jaz saw her as a capable woman.

Dillon sighed and held his hands up. “Okay, you’re right. It’s just hard to trust you.”

“I understand that, but I’m going to prove to Libby that she hasn’t made a mistake in trusting me. I know what I need to do in order to make that happen, but the question is…are you going to help so she’s safe?”

Libby had said enough. The question was valid, and she waited for her cousin to decide what to do. Since she thought everyone had agreed to work with Jaz not against him, she hoped that would still stand, even though he wasn’t happy they’d taken the steps to complete the bond. She didn’t get it. Dillon defended her against the dragons, told her he would give Jaz a chance, but now he acted like he had a burr stuck in his paw. She didn’t think she’d ever understand men.
