Something Borrowed (Something About Him Book 2) by Sean Ashcroft (15)

Chapter Sixteen

Rusty rolled over as he woke up, turning to face Blake and smiling. How many times had he woken up from a dream that started like this? A dream that gave him the illusion of one more night with Blake.

A night he couldn’t have asked for back then. They’d both had lives to get back to, but…

This was real, and it was good, and despite knowing it couldn’t last forever, Rusty intended to enjoy it.

He leaned in close, pressing the softest kiss to Blake’s lips, his heart skipping a beat as Blake responded, a soft, happy sound rumbling in his chest.

“Morning,” Rusty murmured, watching Blake’s eyes flutter open with awe. He was gorgeous all the time, but especially sleepy and relaxed like this.

“Morning?” Blake repeated, half greeting, half question. Rusty chuckled.

“I’d say rise and shine, but I can see you’re already up,” he said, rocking his hips to grind against Blake’s morning erection.

Blake blushed, but it didn’t stop his eyes from glittering, searching Rusty’s face as though it was the most interesting thing in the world.

“Nice to be liked.” Rusty beamed at him. He couldn’t have stopped himself from smiling if he wanted to. He felt so close to Blake right now, close in a way he very rarely felt with other people.

There was no one in his life, past or present, who made Rusty feel even a fraction this good. Blake didn’t even have to do anything. Just exist.

He’d assumed he felt that way last time because he was getting his first break away from his father in years. Now, he was starting to think there was more to it.

“You’re warm. Don’t flatter yourself,” Blake said, yawning widely. Rusty laughed again, happy to let Blake tease him as long as they got another few minutes in bed.

He felt as though there was a spell over them, and the last thing he wanted was to break it.

“You ever had an Australian kiss?” Rusty asked, pushing back the blankets to give himself room to move.

“A what?” Blake raised an eyebrow.

Rusty grinned, climbing on top of him and starting to crawl his way down, pressing a kiss over his heart, trailing down along his stomach.

“It’s like a French kiss, right? But down under.” Rusty looked up, giving him a theatrical wink before scooting back further, kissing under Blake’s bellybutton and then down his dark treasure trail, aiming for the nest of curls lower down.

“I can’t believe you said that,” Blake responded, resting a hand on Rusty’s head, his fingers combing gently through Rusty’s hair. “But I’m not gonna stop you, either.”

Rusty laughed again, pausing as he reached his goal and tilting his head to breathe warm air over Blake’s cock, thrilled when it made Blake squirm underneath him, made him tighten his fingers.

He opened his mouth, glancing up to make sure Blake was watching as he inched closer to the head of his cock.

A knock on the door made him jump.

He looked up at Blake again, who was staring at the door with wide eyes.

“Hello?” he called, his voice strained.

“Are you boys up yet?” Blake’s mother called through the door.

Rusty giggled, slapping a hand over his mouth to muffle the sound. He didn’t care about getting busted, but he got the feeling that Blake might.

He wanted to stay in Blake’s good books.

“Yeah, mom,” Blake called.

“We need all hands on deck downstairs,” she said. “There’re pancakes if you’re quick.”

Blake looked between Rusty and the door, clearly torn, and then sighed. “We’ll be down in a minute,” he called back.

“Thank you,” his mother said. Rusty listened as she walked away, waiting until he heard the stairs creak before rolling away from Blake.

As soon as his back hit the mattress, he burst into laughter. He couldn’t have stopped himself if he’d wanted to. It’d been years since he’d been in a situation where he could get caught, and this was easily the funniest close call he’d ever had.

“It’s not funny,” Blake said.

“Cockblocked by your own mum? It’s fuckin’ hilarious,” Rusty responded, not quite done laughing yet.

Blake rolled out of bed, heading for his bag to grab a clean pair of underwear.

Rusty had practically had to drag him to the bathroom last night to clean up. Once Blake was asleep, he tended to want to stay that way.

It was cute, though. Everything about Blake was cute.

“This is a good view,” Rusty said, finally forcing himself to get up and get dressed as well. “Sorry about the bruises.”

“I bruise easy. And it’s kinda hot.” Blake shrugged, pulling his jeans up. “I’m gonna eat all your pancakes if you don’t hurry up,” he said, heading for the door.

Rusty caught him by a belt loop, spinning him around to kiss the tip of his irresistibly cute nose. “Not if you want to pick up where we left off later,” he said.

Blake swallowed, his ears going red. “I will defend your pancakes with my life.”

Rusty beamed at that, his heart swelling. It was nice to be wanted.

“I’ll meet you downstairs,” Rusty promised, letting him go.

Blake smiled a warm, lazy smile at him as he closed the bedroom door.

Rusty would have done a lot of things for that smile. He’d been trying to pretend otherwise, but Blake’s presence made him happy.

He didn’t know what to do with that information yet, but he couldn’t keep lying to himself.
