Riggs (Hell's Lovers MC, #3) by Crimson Syn (14)

CHAPTER THIRTEEN
RIGGS

I parked my bike near the warehouses where I had initially found Luna that dark night. It was the only place I could think of where it was isolated enough for her foster father to take her. It was nearing midnight and I knew the streets would be empty at this time of night. I had texted Wolf and Grayson with the address and then silenced my phone. I knew they were coming and they’d bring the brothers.

I lifted the seat of the bike and pulled out my P226 Sig automatic. I carried it everywhere I went and I was grateful I had kept it close. Lifting it, I traced my fingers along the sleek black handle. It had been a part of me for so long the familiar feel of it brought me comfort.

I slowly made my way up the street, listening intently to any sound that was out of the ordinary. As I rounded a corner, a piercing scream echoed through the night taking my breath away. Another scream came immediately after it and I ran, I ran knowing that was a scream of pain, of torture. They were hurting her and I wasn’t there to protect her.

I made my way towards the back of one of the warehouses until I found a door. Tugging on it, it propped open easily. I quickly made my way through the dark corridors until I found an open space. I forced my eyes to adjust to my surroundings and I could see a man standing before a chair. His pants were around his ankles and I heard whimpering behind him.

I raised my gun and pointed it at the man’s head as I walked to the other side of the space finally getting a better view of what was happening. The man, Nestor Alvarez, was in his late fifties by Grayson’s description and I’d know it was him by a missing pinky finger. I also recognized the pig since I had found him in this exact position nearly a year ago. Once again, he had his cock out and his pants around his ankles. He was trying to force himself against Luna’s lips as her head wobbled back and forth. I could make out her pretty face, marred by blood and black and blues. My blood boiled and I saw red, without thinking I pulled the trigger, but my gun was suddenly pulled up forcefully. I heard a man’s wail of agony, but didn’t have time to react.

A fist met my face, taking me off guard. And as I staggered back I looked up to find El Rubio staring back at me. I kept my eyes trained on the man we’d been searching for and I smiled darkly.

“Fuck me. I get two for one tonight.”

“I’ve been waiting for you, cabrón. You ready to have some fun?” he sneered.

I didn’t give him a chance to react and slammed into him full force. I slammed him against the floor and we both struggled before I was able to gain some leverage and punch his jaw. He shoved me off and I slammed back onto the ground. My head hit the cement, but I was too full of adrenaline to even notice the blood that was now seeping from the back of my head.

I searched the ground for my gun and spotted it lying a few feet away. I quickly got into action and swung all my strength into the next round of punches, sending him sprawling face down onto the floor. I went to reach for the gun when his foot came out and made contact with my knee, sending me sprawling onto the floor.

He tried to gain leverage on me, but I rolled and kicked him in the face. I reached up for the gun, making contact with the cold metal. As I lifted my hand to aim, he leapt out of the way and my shot ricocheted to the back of the warehouse.

“I’m going to kill you, cabrón!”

“Come out and say it to my face, you coward!” I kept one knee on the ground not wanting to expose myself. I searched the area, but he was hiding in the shadows. The echo of his voice carried across the space making it hard for me to be certain of his position.

I saw a shadow shoot out from behind a pillar and I fired, but I missed. Frustration was settling in.

“Nestor, you piece of shit, get up!” I hear him yell.

Nestor struggled to stand up straight as he pressed the palm of his hand to his side. Blood seeped through his white shirt turning it a bright red. He gripped onto the table and leaned over Luna, who had fainted.

I pointed my gun at Nestor, my finger pressed lightly on the trigger. “Don’t fucking touch her,” my voice was low and vicious.

Nestor actually had the balls to smirk at me, but he didn’t listen. He took out what looked like a standard issue blade. Lifting it up he lifted Luna’s head and flicked her neck with it. A small drop of blood appeared and as I watched it trail down her smooth neck, I turned and pointed the gun at his head.

I stood there for a moment, concentrated on the scum before me. “Step away from her, or I swear to God I’ll put a bullet through your head.”

He grunted and pressed the knife to her throat. “I don’t think so.”

Suddenly, I heard the sound of another gun being cocked and my instincts were on alert.

“I suggest you put the gun down, cabrón, before you get your face shot off.”

My eyes quickly settled on El Rubio who was standing in the shadows, the glimmer of a chrome colt 1911, shone in the dim light. I heard a scurrying around us and I knew the Hell’s Lovers had come through. From my peripheral, I saw shadows move on my right, and then I saw a pair of red lights aimed at Nestor’s and El Rubio’s heads.

I pointed my gun back to El Rubio and cocked my head to the side. “Looks like your outnumbered, vato.”

He shook the gun and took a step closer. “Fuck you.”

Without taking my gun or my eyes off of El Rubio, I spoke to Nestor. “If you’re smart Nestor, you’ll put the knife down and step away from her slowly.”

I saw El Rubio look at Nestor and he shook his head. My eyes spotted Grayson to my left, a gun pointed right at El Rubio’s head.

“You either put down the gun Rubio, or this is the end of the road for you.”

“You think I’m stupid, cabrón. I’ll shoot up the place before I leave here.”

I remained calm, knowing that one false move and he was a goner. “It’s your call, man.”

He laughed. “Now I call the shots, cabrón. And you know what, I’m fucking done with you, puto!”

As soon as his words left his lips two things happened. One was the ringing of two shots being fired, the next was a searing pain to my left side. I watched as El Rubio fell to the floor by my feet and then saw Cain and Seth bring down Nestor to the ground.

Grayson was by my side in seconds as I fell to the floor, feeling lightheaded. I stared over at Luna who was being untied by Wolf.

“Hey man, are you okay?”

I looked over at Grayson, but his voice sounded far away.

“Are you listening to me? Are you okay!”

I nodded, but a numbness started to engulf my body.

I heard Grayson scream out to Wolf. “He’s been shot!”

Wolf came over to me and they both started dragging me out. Wolf called back to Cain. “Handle this and keep me posted.”

“Luna,” I whispered.

Grayson yelled out. “Bring her with you! They need medical attention.”

I didn’t really hear anything else. I was propped on one of the bikes and told to hold on tight. I was in and out of it for what seemed like forever. I kept hearing the roar of the bikes and then I was surrounded by nurses and doctors as I was wheeled into the emergency room.

My mind kept going to Luna wanting to know if she was okay, but I was knocked out as soon as I was wheeled away on that gurney and darkness surrounded me soon after.
