Chapter 10 - Connor

The next day, we were with the horses again. I knew I was feeling strangely happy. Fucking a girl wasn’t anything new to me, but my experience with Lesley the previous night had been somehow different. Tasting her lips, feeling my fingers slide into her pussy was nothing like I’d ever felt before. I had no idea why she had the effect she had on me, but it was there. That feeling was following me around like sunshine everywhere I went.

Alex, Chris and Tony were working with me as usual. We were rolling up hay to store them in the stables for the winter. The work was exhausting and I could feel myself tiring already. The sun had been harsh all day. Besides, dinner with Alfie and Lesley was something that I looked forward to these days. I was already counting the hours before it was time to call it a day and head back to the house.

I must have had a wide smile on my face because Alex looked over at me with a grin. “You’re in a good mood today!” he exclaimed and I nodded my head. I wished I could talk to somebody about what I was feeling . . . This new feeling I had no handle over, but I didn’t want to discuss it with any of them. I didn’t even know what was going on with Lesley. Whether she was already regretting what happened.

“Yeah, I guess I am,” I said, concentrating on the work at hand. I rolled the bales together, sweat dripping down my forehead, and I turned to look when I heard Alex chuckle.

“Yeah, I’m in a pretty good mood too. That fine young thing was in her pajamas in the morning. Cooking breakfast or something,” I heard him say.

I felt my muscles stiffen. This was to be expected. We used to be a house full of men with no woman in sight and testosterone running wild. Now, with the addition of Lesley in our midst, it was only natural that the guys directed their attention to her – especially since she looked the way she did. I couldn’t blame them. She was the only woman to focus their fantasies on, and it was my fault that I hadn’t thought of this before.

What was I supposed to do now? Lock her up in her room and keep her out of their sight? Wish that she wasn’t so fucking gorgeous?

“Leave her be, Alex. She’s supposed to be Alfie’s nanny. Not your toy,” I said, trying to control the snarl in my voice. Alex was still grinning. I could see in his eyes that he was fantasizing about Lesley, and I felt the blood in my veins begin to boil.

“Nah, man. She’s too fine to leave alone. Have you taken a look at that ass?” he chuckled, and Chris and Tony chuckled along with him. I could tell that they had been discussing Lesley in my absence.

I could feel the muscles on my arms growing taut as I tried to distract myself from what I wanted to do. I wanted to wrap my hand around Alex’s throat and squeeze.

I had never been a jealous guy because I had never felt like any girl belonged to me. Just like I didn’t belong to anyone. But with Lesley, even though I didn’t know what she wanted, I felt like I couldn’t stand another man even looking at her.

“Put a lid on it, boys,” I said, keeping my eyes averted from them.

“With an ass like that, all I’d have to do is bend her over and boom!” Alex continued. This time, the other two laughed openly.

I whipped around to them, clenching my fists on either side. They saw me glaring at them and their laughter died down a little. They exchanged looks and I knew they were suspicious about why I was reacting this way.

“She’s not your woman, is she, boss?” Chris asked, stopping what he was doing. I grunted.

“No, she isn’t. Just get back to work!” I growled and then turning from them, I walked out of the stables in search for some fresh air.

No, she isn’t my woman, I repeated to myself. And that was the best way to keep it. For her sake. I didn’t do relationships very well. The only relationship – or an attempt at a relationship – I’d had was with Natalia and look how that turned out! Whether I drove her away, or whether she wasn’t interested in me to begin with wasn’t the question . . . The point was that I knew I was bad at it.

Besides, what I did to Lesley’s father meant that I didn’t deserve to have her. If she ever found out the truth behind her family’s bankruptcy, she would be out of here in a flash. And I wouldn’t blame her. The whole reason why she was being forced to work as my kid’s nanny was because of bad investments that I had purposely devised for her father. I was the cause of her family’s ruin.

I walked across the field to the edge of the ranch. I wanted to put as much distance between me and other human company as possible. I still couldn’t get the thought of Lesley’s beautiful, soft body out of my mind. How she’d trembled in my arms, how sweet her mouth had tasted. How her lips had wrapped tightly around my cock . . . I felt the movement in my pants and I growled.

Just the thought of her ignited me. Even though I didn’t want it to. I wanted to keep my hands off her. I wanted to stay as far away from her as possible. But I couldn’t help it. She had taken over my mind and body and I didn’t even know what she wanted yet.
