Alpha's Bad Boy: An Mpreg Romance (Trouble In Paradise Book 3) by Austin Bates (13)

13

Ramos was a light sleeper. He wasn't sure if it came from being a cop or maybe he was just wired differently. Either way, he found it almost impossible to sleep when there was background noise. That was one of the perks of living alone. He didn't have to worry about random sounds from the other parts of the house disturbing his sleep. Which is why, when he found himself staring up at his ceiling through the darkness, he felt momentarily stuck in a haze of confusion.

His confusion quickly cleared up when he glanced towards the bedroom door and saw Logan creeping towards the bed through the moonlight.

"I...I didn't mean to wake you up," Logan whispered. His shoulders slumped the moment he realized he'd been spotted. His slender figure and messed up hair were just as attractive, if not more so, than they had been when they had first met. It took Ramos a moment to push past his sleep fueled thoughts and form a coherent sentence.

"Is everything alright?" Ramos asked as he sleepily reached for his cell phone and checked the time. It was roughly two in the morning. He groaned under his breath and set the phone back on the nightstand.

"It's...yeah, everything's fine. I just," Logan hovered uncertainly near the door. "Never mind, I'm sorry for waking you up." He turned and headed back out into the hallway.

"You can't just wake me up and then not tell me anything. What's going on?" Ramos asked. His voice was a little more annoyed than he'd intended, but unfortunately that's what happened when he was woken up that early with no explanation.

Logan half turned. He was barely visible now in the shadow of the hallway. "It's not a big deal," he said in a barely audible tone.

"Obviously it was important enough for you to come creeping in here at two in the morning. What's wrong?" His annoyance was beginning to fade away and be replaced by concern. Logan wasn't his usual self right now. Then again, the overwhelming urge he felt to pull the omega into his arms wasn't exactly normal for Ramos either.

Ramos sat up fully. The blankets fell to his waist and exposed his bare chest and shoulders. He'd always slept in his underwear. Anything else was restricting and uncomfortable to him. Right now, however, he was distinctly aware of how little he was wearing and the situation could shift in a less innocent direction very quickly if he wasn't careful.

"It's...it's stupid," said Logan, shrinking further into the shadows. "I'm sorry for waking you up. I can handle this on my own."

"Logan..."

"I had a nightmare, okay?" Logan snapped. Judging from the way he immediately lapsed into silence, he probably didn't mean to be so abrupt. "I'm sorry," he continued, in a more subdued tone. "I had a nightmare and when I woke up I was scared and alone. I was still half asleep when I came back here."

Ramos frowned. "Having a nightmare is nothing to be ashamed of. Especially after everything you went through today." Once the adrenaline was gone and the brain had had a chance to process everything it had been confronted with, it's not surprising that he'd had a nightmare. He knew plenty of people that had nightmares over things less traumatic than having a gun shoved in their face.

"It's not like my life has never been threatened before," Logan laughed, dryly.

Ramos felt his heart clench. They were alike in a lot of ways, but for a cruel twist of fate Logan likely would've ended up walking the same path he was walking now. Following in his father's footsteps as a cop. Their situations could have easily been reversed and Ramos was uncertain if he could have survived as long as Logan had managed to on the streets of La Bonita.

"Come on." Ramos reached over to the other side of the bed and pulled back the blankets. "There's plenty of room."

Logan reluctantly emerged from the shadows and crept towards the bed. Even in the pale moonlight, the blush on his cheeks was visible. He was embarrassed by the entire situation. The fact that he, a grown man and hardened street rat, would have a nightmare was probably extremely unsettling. Then to find himself crawling into the bed of a cop for comfort likely left him feeling vulnerable.

The omega had left his jeans in the living room and was wearing just his t-shirt and underwear. His hair was sticking up at odd angles and there was a look of uncertainty in his face. The moment he had crawled into the bed, Ramos reached out and pulled him into his arms.

The warmth of the smaller, more slender, body against his own was somehow reassuring to Ramos. He hoped that a feeling of reassurance radiated out to Logan as well. His emotions were running high, which was strange for him. His usual measured, calm approach that he had carefully cultivated over the years just wasn't coming through the way it normally did. Instead, he felt his heart flutter in his chest and his entire body reveled in the closeness of Logan's body to his own.

"Ramos..." Logan sounded unsure of himself as he spoke. "I don't want to feel like I did today ever again. I don't want to be that scared, running for my life, and unsure of who I can trust."

Ramos buried his face against Logan's hair and inhaled the scent of him. He smelled like soap and salt air. It was an unusual combination that made him smile slightly through the darkness. Smell had never been a big turn on for Ramos. It was probably the least utilized of his five senses if he was being honest. Living on an island your entire life you learned to just ignore the way a lot of things smelled. Right now, however, the scent of Logan sent chills down his spine.

"You can stay here for now," Ramos said at last. "Once Julio's organization is completely dismantled we'll figure out what to do next. Aguado seemed to think they'd be able to get everyone picked up over the next few days."

"What if I don't want to leave?" There was a playful edge to Logan's voice that took Ramos by surprise. The omega slid back towards him and pressed the curve of his ass right up against Ramos' groin. "What if I like it here too much?"

Ramos' body sleepily began to respond. His brain, however, struggled to keep up. The questions Logan was asking were ones he wasn't ready to answer. While his body seemed to know instinctually what it wanted, his brain was still concerned about keeping up appearances at work and with his grandparents. Dropping his carefully maintained facade wasn't something he was ready to do just yet.

"I guess we'll have to figure that out too," Ramos somehow managed to answer as Logan ground against him.

He placed his hands on Logan's hips and pressed his growing erection against the omega. Logan moaned excitedly in response and rolled to face Ramos.

Their lips met in a heated exchange that left both of them breathless. As their kiss broke, Ramos pulled Logan's shirt over his head. They reunited as soon as they could, pressing into one another in a needy embrace. Was it Logan's need that he sensed, or his own?

Ramos could feel Logan's uncertainty and fear bubbling just below the surface. An almost primal feeling burned within Ramos' chest and fueled his inner desire to show the omega that he was safe here. Everything would be okay. He wouldn't let anything happen to him.

The ferocity of that desire scared him a little. He had barely known the man in his arms for two days and already his entire world was being turned upside down. Everything he had done up to this point in his life seemed to pale in comparison to the sheer force behind the emotions burning within him. He was hesitant to call it love, but passionate desire to protect at all costs came close to describing exactly how he had begun to feel towards Logan.

As the last layers of clothing came off, Ramos was once again taken by an urge to prove himself as an alpha. Such a thing had never mattered to him before, but it mattered now. He rolled over and pinned Logan beneath him just as he had the night before.

Logan, however, had different ideas. He leaned up and pressed his lips against Ramos'. The heated kiss left the alpha feeling momentarily light headed and unguarded. That's when Logan took his chance and rolled hard to one side. In one smooth motion their positions had been reversed. Logan straddled his hips and ground against Ramos' erection with a playful smirk on his face.

Ramos felt a small flare of frustration at being on the bottom again. The ornery little omega had placed his hands on Ramos' shoulders and was keeping his mouth engaged in wet, warm kisses that seemed to drag on into eternity. Before Ramos could express his frustration at being kept down, Logan took hold of his erection and gave it a few slow strokes.

Groaning in pleasure, Ramos sank back against the pillows. He felt Logan's erection pressing against his own. Logan's hands closed around both of them, pressing them together, and began to stroke them eagerly.

His breath came in short bursts as Logan taunted both of their bodies. The pace picked up, the heat was building in Ramos' belly. For a moment he thought he would burst and reach his climax prematurely, but Logan eased off and let them both relax back into a steady rhythm.

A moment passed and Logan pressed one final kiss against Ramos’ lips before leaning away. It took Ramos a moment to realize that he had begun to dig through the night stand beside the bed.

“What are you looking for?” Ramos frowned as he tried to keep Logan from toppling off the bed.

"Are you ready for this?" Logan asked when he finally sat upright. He had recovered Ramos’ bottle of lube and was beginning to pour some out into his hand. He quickly began to shift his position on top of Ramos.

"How did you know that was in there?" Ramos asked as he held up a hand to steady Logan. The omega had begun to apply copious amounts of lube to Ramos’ erection.

"I guessed." Logan's tone was particularly playful as he looked into Ramos’ eyes. “Help me with this?” he asked as he spread poured some lube into one of Ramos’ hands. He gently guided the alpha back towards his ass.

Ramos needed no further prompting. He slathered his fingers in the lube and began to gently press them into Logan’s waiting body. It took him a moment to figure out a rhythm from this awkward position. He couldn’t help but feel that this would be much easier if Logan was lying on the bed instead of sitting unsteadily on top. The omega seemed content with the arrangement however and made no move to adjust his position as his eyes fluttered in pleasure.

“Now,” said Logan after a long moment. “Get ready for my specialty.” He took hold of Ramos' erection and held it in place. Without hesitation, he allowed his body to sink down and moaned in pleasure as Ramos entered him.

The alpha found himself at a loss for words. The warm tightness of Logan's slender body was only enhanced by the depth of penetration this position allowed him to achieve. It was such an overwhelming feeling that he again thought he would climax too soon. Logan, however, knew what to do.

Hands on Ramos' shoulders, Logan leaned forward and raised his hips in one smooth motion. The tantalizing slowness had robbed Ramos of his sense of anything other than what was being done to him right now.

Before Ramos could adapt, Logan had lowered himself once more. Several long, slow strokes like that followed suit but before the alpha could get used to it, Logan changed the pace again. Moving faster now, working up a sweat as he moved, the omega seemed determined to prolong their interaction for as long as possible. Varying the pace, never remaining in one position too long.

Ramos couldn't help but enjoy what was being done to him. Yet, something nagged at the back of his mind. A small, niggling, feeling that was confirmed when he managed to get a good look in Logan's face. The omega wasn't enjoying himself.

"Logan, Logan..." Ramos reached up and placed his hands on Logan's hips, slowing him down until he had ceased to move. There were tears streaming down Logan's face when he looked up at Ramos once more.

"I'm sorry," breathed Logan. "Don't worry, if this bothers you I can turn around so you don't have to see." He quickly rubbed away the tears on his cheeks with the back of his hand.

"No, Logan, what's wrong?" Ramos slowly sat up and gathered the omega into his arms. They remained connected as Ramos slid back towards the head board so he could lean against it while holding Logan's vulnerable form in his arms.

"It's nothing." Logan's voice was muffled as he buried his face against Ramos' chest.

"Logan, please don't do this again. You don't have to worry about keeping things from me." Ramos couldn't describe the conflicting emotions, all heightened by arousal, that were fighting for dominance in his mind. One thing was clear to him, the only thing that mattered right now was Logan.

"It's just...I just...I would do this for Julio, you know? It was just sex with him and, while I didn't hate it, it just wasn't that great. Then here I am, doing this same thing for you and I'm enjoying it. I mean, really enjoying it. But for some reason all I can think about is that bastard and how he tried to have me killed. Then I started thinking that...that maybe all you wanted from this was the sex. If that's all you want then that's fine, but...Ramos, I don't know what's wrong with me. All I know is that I want to stay with you for as long as possible." Sniffling and teary eyed, Logan looked up at him through the darkness.

"If I could never be like this with you again, I think I might die and that scares me," Logan said as he reached up and touched Ramos' cheek.

Ramos felt his chest tighten at Logan's words. His entire body quivered with some strange combination of desire and possessiveness. The omega in his arms belonged to him.
