Chapter 10

Georgie

“Push it, don’t be a pussy George.”

“I’m trying, cut me some slack.” I reply breathlessly.

“And here I thought Savvy was a horrible jogger.”

Ash told me the other day that she needed a new running partner since Savvy was unable to. I don’t think she’s been able to run for a good while and I’m surprised it took her this long to ask me. Ash doesn’t like going for runs alone. Where most people like to be one with their thoughts or listen to music, Ash loves to talk. Which I’m finding difficult at the moment.

“This is my second run and my butts outta shape. Cut me some slack.”

“Butt? How is it you don’t swear? I don’t think I’ve heard as much as an ass come out of your mouth.”

“Wanna take a break?” She keeps running. “No, okay.” I mumble.

“Swearing wasn’t allowed in the compound. So, never hearing the words how would I know to use them? But now being out, I don’t know. It feels wrong, like I’ll be dirty if I cuss.” I shrug my shoulders.

Ashlyn abruptly stops and looks at me. Not the least bit winded and it’s kind of annoying. “Okay, let’s hear it.”

“Hear what?”

“I want you to swear. It’s liberating. And from what I can tell, it could really help you out.” She gets a sober look on her face. “They don’t run your life anymore Georgie. By letting their thoughts invade your head for something as small as swearing you’re letting them win. There is nothing wrong with it, they’re just words.”

I completely agree with what she’s saying, but can I do it? Biting my lip, I try to come up with the perfect word. Got it. “Okay.” I look around to make sure nobody’s lurking. “Ass.” I whisper.

“No, shout it from the roof tops girlfriend. And for this momentous occasion you’re going big and dropping the f-bomb.”

I gasp. “No, I couldn’t.”

“You most certainly can. Reach down deep inside, find your inner truck driver and hurl it out so the whole town can hear you!”

I quickly look around. If everyone heard me what would they think? You know what? Maybe the new Georgie is a swearer? A maneater and a foul mouth go hand in hand. Okay, I can do this. Just yell it Georgie.

“Fuck!” I scream out loud. When I look up at Ash she has a proud smile on her face. “Holy moly that was awesome. FUCK!” I yell again.

I hear heavy footsteps before a deep, “You rang?” Oh crud.

When I turn around my fears are confirmed when my eyes are checking out an extremely sweaty Jayden. The laughter in his eyes has my cheeks turning a bright shade of crimson I’m sure.

“Jay, where the hell did you come from?” Ash asks.

“You see, I heard my bat call so I came a running. What’s going on? Why is my lady summoning me?” He walks up to me and throws his arms around my shoulders. Damn, he even makes sweating like a pig unbelievably sexy.

“We’re freeing ourselves from the cult. Er, Georgie is.” Ash beams another proud smile.

“By swearing? Fuck yes, that’s my favorite thing. As you are well aware of by now.” And my cheeks flame even deeper.

“Yup.” I pop the P.

“Alright, this isn’t a fucking date Jay. I have my sister for most of the day today and you aren’t cutting in on my time. It’s bad enough I haven’t seen her since your first date. I’m dying for some gossip here! So stay the hell away buddy.” Ash is holding no punches today and its making me laugh.

“Enjoy your time with the girls today baby. Come tomorrow, you’re mine.” He nips at my ear and I yelp.

He kisses me on the forehead and walks away muttering, “So fucking adorable.”

“Alright I’m just gonna say it. You guys together are so freaking cute I can barely take it. I know I warned you away from him, but I’ve never seen him like this over a girl before. You Georgie McNamara, may be the best thing to ever happen to the unobtainable Jayden Cage. THE BEAST HAS BEEN TAMED!” She yells and we giggle together.

On our run back to my house, I think about what Ashlyn said. Before we started dating I knew his track record was less than desirable. Or supposed record. Everyone told me he was a one and done kind of guy, bouncing from slut to slut every night. I’m sure every night is an exaggeration.

We haven’t exactly talked much about our feelings, but then again, it’s only been a few weeks since we started dating. Will he get bored with me? That’s always at the back of my mind. Is holding off on sex going to drive him away? Honestly, if he can’t wait until him ready he isn’t someone I’d want to be with anyway. He must feel the same as me, the chemistry we share is off the charts and there’s no way it’s one sided.

After Ash drops me off, or runs me off I suppose, she tells me to get my ass in the shower and be ready in an hour. Her and Savvy are picking me up for a girls’ breakfast because she didn’t get to grill me on the run. She promised her bestie they could do it together.

An hour on the dot later, I step out my front door and head for Ashlyn’s car. They must really be eager to hear about my dates with Jayden and you know what? I’m excited to tell them about it. This is all very Sex and the City. I recently started the first season and I’m learning so much! It’s like a dating guide!

Opening the rear passenger door, my face lights up when I see my niece looking at me.

“Hey sweet girl.” I coo at her. All she does is slobber back, but I get what she’s saying. She thinks I’m the best aunt ever.

“I hope you’re hungry, Savvy wants to head to Carl’s. They have enormous breakfasts. But it shouldn’t be too bad. Whatever we don’t eat I’m sure mama over here will finish off.”

“Hardy har har. Let’s laugh at the fat ass that can’t help but binge eat anything in site. I swear if I gain any more weight I’ll be in Zander’s weight class.” She sighs.

“Savv, you look insane! You’re all baby, don’t even worry about it.”

“Is the baby in my ass?” She questions with a straight face and I burst out laughing.

We chit chat a bit until we get to our destination. The second we walk through the door the smell hits my nose.

“Holy crap does it smell good in here.” I exclaim.

“They’re the best.” Ash nudges my shoulder signaling to follow the waitress to our seats.

Once we’re all settled in and Mia’s on her mom’s lap the girls grill me.

“Wait, so you’re telling me…” Ash can’t stop laughing. “That you kicked him in the ball sack right there in the middle of the restaurant?” She can’t breathe she’s laughing so hard.

“Sadly. It wasn’t my finest moment, it totally ruined the vibe.” I grumble.

“Apparently not if you got down to business on the side of the road.”

I giggle remembering the night of our first date. “There was one thing that happened that was a bit strange. Come to think of it, it’s happened on most of our dates.”

“What?” Ash asks curiously.

“He had this bag with him, really it was like a pocket book. After I bruised his balls, I stole it and went to the bathroom to see what was inside. I know that makes me a horrible person, but he kept taking it to the bathroom with him after everything he ate. It got me nervous so I had to look.” Well that’s my logic anyways.

“So...” Ash presses on.

“I found a plethora of oral hygiene.”

“Hmmm. He has good teeth but I’ve never seen him with a travel bag full of oral goodies.” Ash taps her chin.

“Who wants some nice fluffy pancakes? I’m starving.” Savvy says.

“Didn’t you hear what she just said? You don’t find that a bit odd?”

“Or the French toast is to die for. Maybe a nice side of crispy bacon to go with it.”

Somethings fishy. She’s looking everywhere but at me and Ash, and hasn’t even acknowledged the fact that he’s been carrying around a satchel that’s been dentist approved. That’s what it is. She isn’t surprised.

“Savannah Marie.” Ash must be thinking the same thing as I am.

“What?” She asks innocently.

Ash points a finger towards her. “What do you know? Spill!”

“Alright, alright! I’m so sorry, this is all my fault Georgie. Jay came to me asking for relationship advice. He wanted to make a good impression and ensure a second date so he asked me to help. He was desperate. So… just know he’s always giving me shit, all the time. I figured I’d exact my revenge.”

“This is gonna be good. And for the record, he gives everyone shit so I’m in favor for whatever debauchery you planned. Sorry Georgie.” Ash shrugs her shoulders then rubs her hands together.

Savvy takes a deep breath. “I may have told him you had a thing for dentists, pretty much the whole teeth cleaning process. Told him it really got you going when you watched little shop of horrors and the evil dentist came on.”

“What?” I shriek completely mortified.

“I know, I know. I shouldn’t have said anything, but it was too easy.” She looks down at the table trying not to laugh.

I find myself slightly relieved. “Thank god! You don’t even want to know where my mind went, I was so nervous he had some weird fetish where I’d have to be baptized in mouthwash.”

“That’s an idea.” Ash chimes in.

“What do you mean?” I question.

“We can work with this. And yes, I said we. Hear me out, Jay thinks you have some weird fetish and he thinks he just has to brush his teeth all the time… if you’re willing to do this, here’s the plan.”
